Brother, I've been in the industry a long time and like most of us I know how it all works. But I could never explain it like you did. I watch all your videos, and many videos from other videos...but, this one BY FAR the best video I've ever seen on the internet. I second that, fantastic explanation for someone researching here to get into BP’s. Probably just start out with 1 and as I pick up knowledge debate dabbling with tiny scale breeding. This perfect explanation in a video is a like, save and earned a sub!

@@cobra27ca I wouldnt waste the money bro. I did it for 23 years successfully, but now its honestly a joke. I sold my entire collection, as well as rat breeding business last year. The Govt will also eventually step in and shut it down, because no big breeder is paying the taxes they should be. Trust me, they are all being watched heavily

Another outstanding video sir. By far yours are the most straight forward and understandable on youtube. I'm currently a small time hobbyist (total of 8 in the collection) putting together some cool projects in the near future. This video really helped convince me pairing my male pastel clown to my female leopard should be the start of something special later down the road. I actually have a male calico that came from you that's ready to pair with my female spider (spiders rock!) Hopefully get a few caliders next year as well. Anyway....job well done and keep em coming!

I wish this video existed 3-4 years ago when I started purchasing my snakes. I'm in a good position now... but this would have made life so much easier back then, when trying to decide "what to buy". My Piebald male should be giving me 3 clutches of 100% het pied offspring, and another clutch of 1/2 pied (bred to a 100% het female)... and then I'm hoping to prove out my 50% het Ghost female this year... but having this information before I got all my current snakes would have saved me a TON of time. Great video, keep them coming!

MJ Axanthic was what got me into ball pythons, my little visual male is amazing. I was just wondering if people had done work with VPI/SK hets? I never hear about such double recessives (though SK is almost non-existant in Canada, its MJ or some VPI) and I was wondering if the axanthics are entirely incompatible (as in hatchlings dont make it) or its just seen as taboo amoung keeps? Thanks for the awsome videos Matt!
@OlympusReptiles7 жыл бұрын
Kind of just taboo, as it would make double hets. Then bred back no way to tell vpi, sk, or both.

Awesome videos! You do a wonderful job and your great at marketing yourself!!!! I have a question, I am finally able to start establishing a small collection to start for breeding Dom and Co-Dom projects in the future. I want to start with babies to raise and learn before I jump into something, so it will be a while before I attempt to breed. I wanna do it right and produce beautiful snakes. Do you have any advise a little bit different about breeding these genes instead of recessive? Any help or advice would be appreciated!

Hi! This was a great video, very informative! Like you I absolutely love the Spider but I’ve heard the “wobble” could be quite detrimental to the snake. I'm pretty sure the MJ line has proven incompatible with both VPI and SK. Don't forget the black axanthic (from VPI but not compatible) either! And red axanthic (even though its co-dom).
@OlympusReptiles7 жыл бұрын
DJKarll yup, black axanthic and the het red axanthic were totally different genes. I wasn't aware if they had fully tested the MJ line yet to see if it was actually SK, vpi, or joliff. while I love axanthic, the multiple lines are a PITA.

@joshualand20537 жыл бұрын
awesome video!!!
@morrisnakes5 жыл бұрын
I think the example you give has some merit if you plan on holding back a bunch of females to breed to powerhouse males, but my favorite way is to get co-dom females that have genes I want to combine with the recessive, and then create comdom het recessives to breed back to daddy recessive. Then in 2 generations you can get something more interesting than what you started with. You also don't have to worry about people lying about hets that way because you know what you bred. You can even pick females with different codoms you want to combine together later down the road with your recessive. edit: haha later in the video you talk about doing that but with codom het recessives. you are so on the ball in this video.
