When I've been going to bed recently, I start thinking, "You know, I may not have had peace a few days ago, and I may not have it a few hours from now, but darnit, I have peace right now." And it gives me a lot of gratitude for life.

What I learnt from this? When trying to be in the present don't just include things within you like your breadth or things you touch and eat, but also what is near you.. maybe the tree around you, the cat near you.

That's a beautiful insight! ✨ Being present isn't just about internal awareness, but also extending that mindfulness to the world around you. Connecting with things outside of yourself can calm down your nervous system, ground you in the present moment, and-most obviously!-make you aware of what is happening around you. 😊 Thanks for sharing! 🙏🏻

Thank you, very useful. Particularly the well made point regarding the dual awareness of the inner and outer and the inclusive of both in the present moment.

You're very welcome Martin! So glad it was helpful and I love how you worded it here! "Dual awareness" and "inclusive of both"-perhaps I should have used language like yours in my video's description. Always learning over here too! 😊

@@MorganRysdonCenterStudio I've been learning AT this year and can sense how subtle and deep it goes and to have this conveyed the way you do, in very practical and helpful ways, is greatly appreciated. 🙂

So being in the present moment doesn’t mean there’s no thoughts?
@MorganRysdonCenterStudio Жыл бұрын
Exactly! 😊 Being in the present moment doesn't mean eliminating all thoughts. It's more about being aware of your thoughts without getting caught up in them. Mindfulness involves observing your thoughts (non-judgmentally!), acknowledging them, and then gently bringing your attention back to the present moment, whether it's your breath, surroundings, or the task at hand. It's about cultivating a balanced awareness, where you're not overwhelmed or carried away by your thoughts but rather observing them with a sense of detachment. Thoughts will naturally come and go, and the key is not to let them dominate your entire experience of the present. ☺️✨
