I have been struggling with major depression with suicidal thoughts for many years despite medications. The past few days I have been doing mindfulness breathing taught by Thich, then came to Eckhart. Yes, the consciousness shifted. No more noise in the mind, no suicidal thoughts. There is a deep silence which I deeply appreciate. But my problems are still present at the background (eg. financial). I hope the divine consciousness will do what it needs to do while I stay as present consciousness.

The season of failure is the best time for sowing the seeds of success. ~ Paramahansa Yogananda I've had a pretty wild ride. My heart goes out to you. I've been overwhelmed by the dark and lonely harshness of this world many a night while on the streets or left for dead by society. So, trust me when I say I can relate. ❤ For what it's worth...I'm around if you need a rando friend. Fyi...check out Jung and Fromm too. 😘

I've only had one time in my life where I was truly present and I continue to strive for that type of presence without the circumstances that lead to presence. It was at the moment of my 12 year old son's death. We had leukemia and shortly into his treatment he got an infection and after standing vigil over him for a week, he passed. I have never in my life felt that type of presence. It wasn't shock... I felt intense clarity in the moment and - dare I say - peace.

I lose consciousness in social interactions. I realize a strong emanation of resistance in me. I quickly get entangled in these moments. I start fighting like a person by losing awareness of my true nature. This has been happening for 2+ decades. However, I don't overthink or replay these moments in my head when I'm alone. Granted, it's easier to stay present in private than in public. This is my personal opinion though. I deeply know that I'm going to transcend these mind attacks and emotional storm. Thanks eckhart for your timely insights. Love you.

The teachings of the great stoics are as relevant today as they were thousands of years ago. The physical body may have gone but their consciousness never will. That will exist forever and as there is only one consciousness that wisdom is within us all. It’s within every living thing for we are all one. We all come from and will return to the same place. Just stop and take a minute to see how all in nature is so intricately connected. 🙏🏼❤️ Eckhart may not see himself as one, yet he is by his nature very stoic. I believe in the future he’ll be seen as one of the great stoics.

I felt sad because i love biking but i could do nothing more than accept the current situtation and immediatelly i was feeling ok. Eventhough when i was telling to my friends what happened i was in acceptance of that and i was so peaceful. Someone who didnt know what he/she was doing stole my bike, his consciousness was not working so that's why he/she didnt know if that was good or bad to do. I dont blame anyone, it just happened. Two weeks ago i managed to buy a new one and that was a happy moment of my life (and still is), because i didnt satisfied my ego to buy something i dont need but i enjoy every moment when i take my bike either going out for shopping or exercise!

Yes a short one . A monk told me once : if you are trying to build a fire by rubbing wood sticks together to produce a flame and stop every five seconds you can try all your life and never get a fire in the end . Good luck with your one breath meditation

@@mja4752 maybe your Monk friend meant the opposite of what he seemed to say, but hid the truth right before your eyes. I see him as saying that by rubbing two sticks together, we create more friction in an already busy mind. You’ll never get a fire by rubbing two sticks together (lest you’re a Boy Scout, and even then I’d like to see it 😩). Maybe he meant that you won’t get the fire by continuing to make friction in your already busy mind, but instead, meant that one breath while aware, is both free of friction, and is also all that is needed in one’s entire life. It’s entirely possible that the monk meant something else, but if so it doesn’t matter. I would say that more friction causes more friction and will only burn 🔥 someone out. When that happens, there’s nothing more left to do except give it up, and in one brief moment of clarity, feel the lighter air that comes with surrender. One breath of awareness that never ends, is what we are all aiming for isn’t it? But that one breath is eternal, and require zero instructions (and I say this respectfully) from even a Monk, or even Eckhart. I think he would agree, and certainly wouldn’t be offended.

it is really hard to be present all the time , the ego will always fight back for its survival depends on thinking about the past and future, the struggle is real
