That's what fishermen call a Nail Knot. I serve my nocking points with the body of an old Bic pen. The body has a hexagonal cross section. I used a vice and a backsaw to carefully remove one side --a dremel would work too. Then I gently press the pen shaft onto the bowstring and make my serving/knot, the same way as your video.

Have you looked into doing this like whipping? Basically make a bight and lay it along the line, then wrap around that bight. When you’re done put the working end of the line through the bight. You can then pull the tail of the bight tight to pull both ends of the line under the wraps.

Thanks for posting this video. I dont use a nail knot, but I might give it a try. I tend to like a bit of a more pronounced nock point, I double serve my knot so that it has a profile about that of a brass nock.

We use a loop, then wrap one strand around string, through the loop 6 to 8 turns and pull it tight. It is a bobber stop knot. No need for the Sharpie, it makes it harder!

i use 2 strings, lay one where you want to wrap foming a sort of U, wrap tightly with the second one and pass the tip under the U, then pull the first string from the other end to pass the tip through the wrapping. Imo is faster
@timapple6586

That's an excellent method because you don't have to 'dress' the knot while snugging it tight. It also helps if you put a bit of masking tape on both the end of the loop and its tag ends to hold it in pace so you focus on the whipping thread. I also use the method in the video, but I use a 1" section of clear pen refill with 45º cuts on the ends, so you just stick the loose end down the centre then remove the tube. Anything hollow like a feather will do.

Historically they would place the line on top of the string, and then wrap around it while leaving a loop, then after tightening put the other end through the hoop, then pull both ends tight and pull the string that made the hoop slightly more so that where the hoop grabs the end is under, in the middle of the wrap. It is how they made tight string tool handles without any glue, held in by friction.

Sharpie is not necessary. Lay a loop along the string and wrap toward the loop. Put the open end of the string through the loop and pull the knot under the wraps. Can easily make it more clean.

The Knotles knot is a fishing knot used to present a boily on a hair rig. It is a way of tying of the line on a hook using friction only leaving a loop at the hook and an end to go to the main line. This is not a knot-less knot It looks more like a knot known as a fisherman knot used to join to lines of equal size

Works betterif you attatch a needle to the end of the string to help get it through the loops and use either a drinking straw or a round stir stick or bamboo skewer instead of a sharpie so the knot will be easier to tighten

How far shoulda bow string be away from the nocking rest ? Will different size strings change the draw poundage ?
@d0nb3x
@d0nb3x 15 күн бұрын
It's called bracing height. The amount depends on the size of your bow and, to a lesser extent, the bow geometry. Bow manufacturers usually provide guidelines specific to their risers.
@d0nb3x
@d0nb3x 15 күн бұрын
And no, different length stings won't affect the poundage, but it does affect arrow speed a bit because with a larger bracing height the string stops moving sooner. String thickness also affects the final arrow speed, because a thicker string is heavier and moves slower.

@@d0nb3x I have a 60” Bear kodiak , it’s got the original string and was curious on strings as I’ve never had to purchase one before but it’s old and thought it might be good to replace it .
@d0nb3x
@d0nb3x 15 күн бұрын
@@davescheer5038 If your string looks frayed you should definitely replace it, but otherwise it should be fine. Waxing it every couple hundred shots or so helps it last longer. I am only familiar with target bows, but Bear has a chart of string lengths for each of their bow models on their website, and your local archery shop should be able to help you source a string of the right length.
