When the guardian sentinels shoot missiles, you can hide under the arches for protections. The missiles come straight down, and the arches protect you well. Now the real gamer move though is to just drive under the sentinels when they fire their missiles, so they blow themselves up in the process.

A tip for those who are having troubles with guardian sentinels... upgrade your srv’s ammunition to premium. You can do this on site through the synthesising menu. Sentinels will die much quicker as you will be doing 30% more dmg. Another tip... don’t run like crazy through the guardian locations, it will make sentinels wake up all at the same time. Go slowly and you will only have to deal with 2 sentinels at a time, which makes the process a lot easier. Finally, make sure you have a point defence turret equipped in one of the up utilities slots of your ship... it will help you by shooting down sentinels missiles. I’m giving this advices just because those were the problems I had unlocking guardian stuff, I hope it will help. Stay safe cmdrs and merry Christmas to all. o7

Doing it with mates makes the sentinels easy to kill and the race to activate the pillars real easy. I brought along an SLF and could shoot both the sentinels and pillars with it. Although, if you are doing it with friends the site won't reset until everyone has logged out.

At the most, you can do things more efficiently and quickly. About Yamiks, that is just his style... I like the dude, he knows a lot about the game. It might be worth mentioning that the SRV may run out of ammo or you may blow it up fighting the drones, or even run out of fuel, so make sure to gather materials for synthesis, or... simply fill your Anaconda with more of them and change SRV's as needed. bonus points if you fit point defences on the top parts of the ship so you don't have to deal with the missiles, try to park as close the ruins as possible too, it may take a while but if you want to unlock guardian tech you're gonna be there a while anyway.

Yeah, once I learned about it, I was on it fast..So I took my halfway upgraded Keelback (with a B class FSD) out to guardian ruin space (at 17LY per jump, that took a while) When I got there and started collecting the obelisk data, I was so friggin scared I was going to trigger something (the music in those guardian areas really has that "LEAVE NOW!!! YOU DO NOT BELONG HERE!!" vibe....) and it was even worse at the actualy guardian sites because I had no idea about the sentinels, but thanfully my ship was close and had a PDT on it.... (This was a little over a year ago when I started playing ED)

Tip : scout the ruins for wide arched structures and high tail it to one when the drones come out. Their death from above missiles are a pain in the ass. (Also why he mentioned a point defense and landing as close as possible... but I find hiding in a pillbox easier)

I helped my mates out by bringing an Anaconda with an SLF bay and 4 PDs on the underside, you have to be 1km up to launch a fighter, but the Point defense cannons still have range to take out most missiles. My mates also had PDs on their ships, so It was like watching a C-RAM in Basra video

One potentially useful tip that occurs to me, having just bought my Corvette (which has been a joy), is that great as the booster is, if you're not planning on travelling great distances for a bit, storing it at a station frees up a space for something more useful right now, for a specific task like mining. You can always swap it back in once you've filled your hold.

One hearsay tip I got is that you can hop into your ship to dispatch guardian sentinels, you cant target them but you can hit them. saves fuel and ammo for SRV even though that is fairly cheap to craft on the go.

These boosters are worth the effort!! Do this grind the one time and you can buy FSD boosters to your heart's content (1 per ship)! Every ship in my fleet is going to have a 40 ly jump range!

This is still a perfectly accurate guide for how to unlock one of the most useful modules in the game. It still can't make the Asp Scout good ship, but makes it suck slightly less at least. While the guide doesn't remove the grind, it does give you a purpose for the grind. +1 Yamiks

I got mine from HIP 36781, about same distance more or less, depends on where you start the trip. There is no easier or harder way, best thing is to do with someone, I did alone and it was hard, that guardian site had rough landing edges and a bigger ship had no place near. A PD is a must. I had 2 mounted above when drones shot missiles.

Couple suggestions... If you go by the two at the front first, it allows all the others to trigger, but if you activate the two at the front last, you can avoid fighting more of them, just scoop up the goodies and relog if you're going to, or run away if you have everything you want, as the ones that spawn when you "finish" generally do so away from the spot. There will usually be one close, but he's often hidden by the structures nearby and will leave you alone, or is easy to deal with on his own. Clear the whole area of panels and data and trigger the two up top, but don't "charge" them yet. If this is your first time at the site, seek out and familiarize yourself with the locations of the pillars and grab a relic. Then you can start doing a loop that ends at the two nearest the spot, when you get the last one drop the relic at the spot and do your scan. As I explained above this will make combat with at least some of the Guardian Sentinels optional and thus save some time. This especially relevant if you're out there to "stock up" and knock all the modules out at once and will be repeating the process multiple times, as you will reach your capacity for some, and have more than enough most of the things the Sentinels drop relevant to modules....and if you're going for weapons, you'll get more then for that when you're going for that, so don't think you have to kill them for things you don't need for modules specifically.

Having one fixed beam laser on your ship may help. If you feel overwhelmed by the sentinels you can hide in the ship and shoot the sentinels with the laser. Having a friend with you (2 ships, not multicrew) can make the process faster too. One in SRV doing the "mission" and getting loot, another one in a ship with a beam laser shooting sentinels. Then relog, switch places, repeat... Until you both have the materials and blueprints. Sadly, this was the most fun I've ever had in ED coop multiplayer, at least the first iteration ;)

You need to keep shooting the pillar until it makes a cool noise and lights up like a beacon. You'll get bonus time added to the countdown if you do this correctly :)

@@Priotech I will share with you my road to success: Step 1: Get Chrome picture in picture addon (not mandatory if you have second screen/PC/TV or whatever). Step 2: Play something on your device of choice from Step 1. Step 3: Set controls of SRV to pad or something that will allow you to lay on the couch or bed. Step 4: Turn off your brain as you fight dozens of sentries on your way to Guardian Tech. Step 5: Spend ridiculous amount of time in Step 4 while questioning your life choices and deepening your anxiety and depression. Step 6: Unlock each and every module from Guardian Tech broker. Step 7: Leave Elite Dangerous for year or year and a half. Step 8: Get shivers on bare thought of Guardians. Optional step 9: Get PTSD strike while listening to squeaky latvian guy talking about Guardian tech. I hope that will help!

@Dracoth Begone Spending an hour or more shooting pylons and relogging to get an upgrade for my ship is a gap in ones experience as it is an experience in which you repeat a simple procedure over and over again with minimal input. You can literally be watching something on tv or KZbin while you do it, only half paying attention to it. It lacks any kind of interactivity outside of the most basic format. You could replace this gameplay with menus with selectable text that is time locked and it would be identical in its impact on your gaming experience. The experience lacks anything that makes it worth engaging with outside of the reward itself, which is ANATHEMA to any good game design. The entire process should be an experience from start to finish, and it should not require relogging to reach the goal. The game should simply match the reward and the goal. TLDR: If the gameplay of something is basic and lacks engaging content it should not last longer than a few minutes, if it is engaging and contains plenty of content, it should last as long as it can without getting boring. Game design is about balance the developers at FDev have no clue how to balance player experience and reward, and outside of a few minor events, have no idea how to make content engaging. ----------- 2 examples of how they could change this particular gameplay: 1. Make it short and sweet, under 10 minutes experience. 2. Make it comprehensive and worth the length it takes currently. Don't have pylons you shoot at, create more in-depth ruins that require you to explore with enemies to fight along the way. Put puzzles in these ruins that block your path and put some effort into writing some story around the ruins to engage you in the experience outside of the reward at the end. Have audio/hologram files to find in the ruins that expand on what happened, whilst also containing hints at how to get past the puzzles within them to provide people who don't care about the story of the ruins to make them still instrumental towards their goal. Have an end to the story of the ruins at the end and rather than getting materials at the end, get given a guardian tech (or blueprints you can give to a tech merchant if you still want to go down that route) that is unique to that particular ruin. So have a different ruin for each tech and have them each have their own story, with getting all of them providing a complete overarching story.

Farming in a game is a sign of a developers incompetence to make something worth experiencing whilst trying to create a sink cost attachment to the game so you won't leave it instead of creating content that keeps the player coming back (which is more expensive to do than manipulating people psychologically). You've farmed once in a game you've farmed in all of them.

I am doing Robigo Mines for some money making right now and I am 1600 ly away from the Guardian Tec region, watching what effort goes into this, I just can't be arsed to spend an entire day flying there, unlocking, and flying back (neither do I have the time). And then I wouldn't even have all the guardian stuff, so it would make sense to stay in that region and unlock all the things first before I return to normal duties? Ouch.

Well you have to consider the time you save for the rest of the time after you have that +10ly range. If you have a ship with ~50ly range, adding 10 more is basically like reducing your lifetime jumps by 20%. So for every 500 jumps you make, you're saving from having to do 100 jumps, which is even more than the jumps needed to get the guardian and come back. So it's easy to see by simple math that the guardian FSD pays off even when a person is doing a relatively small amount of traveling, because I guarantee everyone is going to travel between systems more than 500 times, much more. Even doing Robigo can benefit, because it can mean the difference between doing it all in one or two or even three jumps. If you do Robigo in 3 jumps, and do it enough times to make 500 million, you've already done more than 25-50 extra jumps. Of course extra jumps don't take long between Robigo, but it's still tedious.

The fsd booster is an extra module which gives a little more than 10 extra lightyears on size 5 (which is the biggest size). You can't run the ship on itself and will keep your fsd-drive anyway. There are however modules like the power plant that replace the other ones - I don't know about them.

I don’t remember but FSD guardian booster require energy so having also the Generator is a good thing I think no ? And in the end Engineer full custom FSD is the THING to have in the end for maximum comfort no ? I wished there was maybe videos that tell you « comfort » builds with normal , engineered or guardian stuff types like would be good for newbies , people that havent dived deep enough yet and maybe experts discussion from wich we could learn by chance some small or giant tips by luck you know ? Sometimes you know and ignore things without really knowing it

You must first get the energy pylons near the databank to pop up (by just getting close enough), only then will the other ones pop up. But once all of them are up, you can shoot/charge them in any order. You might want to find and pop up all 6 of them before starting to shoot at any of them.

I really hope they fix all the annoying ways we have to engineer and get this module when Odyssey comes out. Everything in this game takes forever... why would they torture us with such an un-immersive grind?

The fact that every single video guide for this game makes some remark about how the viewer should already know what they're talking about is just annoying for a new player. Yes I know it's more or less a "joke", but then they go on to not explain whatever it was they "jokingly" say you should already know. Already ready for all the replies this will get from lame Elite elitists, so go ahead and have fun.

Literally dude. Its why i hate the elite community. Always complaining about the lack of information in the game yet they are always the first to make a joke about someone not understanding an aspect about the game. The free anaconda is a prime example.
