Noted you mentioned transferring funds from OA to SA. Just wondering are you aware if the amount in SA in excess of the FRS can be withdrawn at 55?
@juznikon8 ай бұрын
There is no more SA after 55 years old. Whatever that is above FRS will then go to your OA. You can withdraw from OA.

Hi, thanks for your clarifications. Are you aware if we need to sell the UT bought with funds from SA when we reach 55?

Wonder if new policy to close SA, would result in even more CPF members losing their savings thinking they can beat the Oa 2.5% interest rate.

Pass 55, I'll withdraw all OA $$$ as cash to put in FD for better interest.
@txsics39168 ай бұрын
FD in SG is usually not higher than OA though. Except now. Which is not the norm.
@R6ex8 ай бұрын
@@txsics3916 Noted. Will put OA $$$ in FD (like OCBC 3%) using CPFIS instead of withdrawing as cash.
@R6ex8 ай бұрын
@@txsics3916 Thanks. Will go for OCBC's 3% CPF Time Deposit then.

All these constant adjustments make me reassess the credibility and sustainability of the CPF model. What we consider optimal now may not hold true in the future. In my opinion, investing in productive assets remains the most effective path to retirement.

Yes, high risk high return and low risk low return. Don’t expect NO risk for high return, such as SA shielding at about 55, particularly for the (very) rich! Why should taxpayers contribute to the rich in such manner?! Paying high interest rate to these SA balances and yet allowing for withdrawals at any time above 55 is a serious loophole - it is long overdue and must be plugged!!

2.5% in OA is NOT tiny especially from 2000 to 2022 when interest rate was mostly below 1%. The government has been very generous to CPF members for over 20 years! So, don’t start screaming just because interest rate was higher for just the past 2 years. Moreover, you can always invest your OA balance for higher returns but at a higher risk of course. Don’t expect to have the cake and eat it all the time! Learn how to appreciate!!

Government invests your money in S&P 500 and earn annualised 10%. Pay you 2.5%.
