@@jbNimble0that’s not really fair, I had a +/- 2yd tolerance on each shot so I only accepted shots from 48 to 52 yards so there wasn’t too much of a fluctuation in launch, spin and speed. It’s most important to me in these tests that the data is as accurate as possible.

Mid handicapper here. CBX and RTX from Cleveland changed my game. Great spin out of different conditions, and even off the rack playing shorter finesse shots like lob or flop they are super accurate and forgiving. Dropped 5 off the handicap in a couple months. And compared to Vokey and MG4 way better on the wallet. Highly recommend giving them a go

Thanks for the 5 wedge test. I've been a Vokey player for a long time. Mid way through the summer, I bought RTX 6 Tour Rack (50,54+1, 58+1) with KBS 610 shafts. I didn't know if they were going better than my 54D and 60k. But wow, even more solid feel with a biting groove pattern. Love the driving ball flight and consistent distance.

I recommend getting fit for every club if you’re serious about your game. I got fit by Brent in the North York location expecting I’d end up in the Vokey’s or Mizuno S23 but ended up in Jaws Raw 54 with an S grind and a full face 58. Didn’t play much this year due to work but I got in maybe 10 rounds and looked to layup to 90-100 yards for my stock 54 ended up making 15-20 birdies doing this. For my delivery the only wedges I launched under 30 degrees were the Jaws and for me I love the beveled leading edge

@steveuhg9560

not that I know anything but i would say the order of importance is: bounce/grind - then Shaft- then head - then finish on the wedge..... people dont always consider the importance of the wedge finish I have light blue eyes and dislike chrome, especially in bunkers. It is just too reflective, so I love a black or copper or rusty finish on my sand and lob wedge

Long time subscriber of the channel and the best available for detailed reviews, but one question - why do you not show close-up images of the clubs you test such as face-on view, address, leading edge etc? It would be helpful if this was done between shots or during the time looks are being discussed.

As a club where 'turf interaction' is so important for many reasons, (enough so for a whole range of sole designs to be a key part of choosing a club within a makers range)......I'm not feeling these tests are real enough when done off a studio mat guys. Ok, the tests are 'like for like' and all in the same conditions etc, but so would a 'like for like' driver test off the deck. It's just not real enough for how they are designed to and actually used.

I know you both play Vokey’s, maybe it’s due to professional relationships or maybe Bob does special fittings and sole grinds. I’ve just never got along with them, they seem like cleaner looking Ping’s. To be honest I’ve never liked cast clubs which likely contributes to my dislike of Vokey, they feel and sound ‘clicky’. Grew up mostly playing Wilson Staff and MacGregors, then custom grind Lou Ortiz, of Orlimar fame. Those are probably the best feeling wedges I’ve ever had, didn’t hurt that I met Johnny Miller, ChiChi and Jerry Heard among others at his shop as they too were getting custom wedges hand ground by Lou. The last 20 years I did have 1 year of Cleveland’s, my one and only time I had cast wedges in bag. Mostly it’s been Miura’s and Mizuno’s, currently carry a T22 48* PW and 60* LW along with 56*/14 Miura SW. I’ve custom ground some relief in backside of heel to allow me to lay them open a bit more effectively. I also have 3 Bettinardi wedges, 52/8, 54/14 & 58/10. Depending upon course length, turf and sand conditions I carry either 3 or 4 wedges; 48,54,58 or 48, 52, 56, 60. I find the Bettinardi’s to be highest spinning wedges I’ve ever used and as soft and smooth as Miura. What I really like is the sole has nice relief already at heel and a rounder profile thus no need to grind a relief. I still add a bit of lead tape out near toe but much less lead tape than I use on my T22’s. One of the features I really like on Mizuno’s is the multiple finishes. When carrying 3 or 4 wedges that all slot into same forward section of my bag, having each wedge with distinct different finish makes it easy to grab the desired club without 2nd thought as I’m pulling clubs walking to green.

I find it hard to believe that any differences in launch & spin are from the wedge itself and not the operator. I firmly believe a wedge is a wedge (especially if forged). Maybe there are different coatings for improved spin in the wet, or differences in grind to change turf interaction. But I can't see there being a statistically significant difference for the tests here which are done in a dry range setting off artificial turf.

I have the Mizuno 5606 i like the less bounce for my home course, with its tight, hard lies around the green. Its also real easy to lay it open and hit the flop shots, so i dont need a 60. I fine it to be a very versatile club.

For me personally, I used to only play ping wedges because of the hydropearl finish. I primarily play in the morning when there are dews, so having spin consistency in wet condition is very important for me. Ever since the RTX 6 came out, with the new spinsistency technology, it performs even better than the Ping, and feels way better too. 2/3 of my wedges are RTX 6 as of now and I am super happy with what I purchased. Very happy to see TXG do Cleveland justice, i truly believe Srixon/cleveland has the same, if not better quality than other major brands, at a fraction of the price too.

@rufussthoo4083
@rufussthoo4083 6 ай бұрын
@@benmoisio232 I have 2 bench grinders with a variety of stones and a linishing tool, so I'm just 'finessing a grinder'. I prefer aluminium oxide stones as I find they give an overall more even result, which makes the linishing easier. I guess, if you clamped the head properly/well, you could do it with a fime-grade cutting/grinding wheel on a hand-held grinder. I did try using a dremel tool once, but it was too small and too slow. I worked out what I like by testing different wedges and making notes on their grinds and sole shapes, and making mistakes (on old ones).

Can anyone explain why I can swing my 56° around the same club head speed but only goes maybe 80 yards max? I play around a 1 handicap and my driver club head cruises around 108-110 mph on the course.
