Another thing to notice is these guys had to change momentum and direction in a split second to make some of those catches. There are a few more videos show wicket keeper catches as well . Also There are a few other clos catching positions in cricket that require really good reaction time. Some of them include Silly mid Off, Silly mid on, Point ,and slips.

They will also know the batter - so if the batsman has a weak shot that could lead to a catch behind, or a favored shot that if mis-timed will lead to a dismissal, the fielding team is likely to exploit those.

Chatting is disadvantageous as it will give away the bowler's strategy. They use secret signs and codes to communicate with fielders. Also, if the bowler reveals the seam during the run up the keeper would know which direction it will turn

One catch that they missed here is Sarah Taylor's catch when standing up to the stumps, insane grab. And no the bowler normally doesn't tell the wicket keeper what ball they are bowling each time, the keeper has to guess just like the batsman. They have the advantage of knowing the bowler more and standing further back, so therefore having more time to adjust.

To answer your question most wicket keepers know to read their bowlers from playing together especially with the national teams but if there’s like a new bowler on debut they can take a while to adjust

wicketkeepers normally know how bowlers bowl. the bowler normally sets the fielders accordingly. so a pace bowler might be bowling an inswinger, outswinger, or one that nips back off the seam. its depends on the grip of the ball and/or wrist action. all stuff that you'll learn as you go along

Keeper and bowler don’t talk between balls. They might have a quick chat between overs though. The keeper stands well back to fast bowlers which gives them time to react to what the bowler does, what the batsmen does, and what the ball does off the pitch.

In situations like these, wicket keepers go off of experience of bowlers. For spinners, each spinner usually can only spin in one direction and if they’re in your team then you know which way the ball will spin so the wicket keeper might stand behind the stumps accordingly. Wicket keeping is very hard and they make it look damn easy cuz it’s very hard to process and react like that in a matter of seconds, you have to be very focused on the ball. Some wicket keepers and bowlers would talk/scream from across the stumps (for example an Australian player might start talking to his fellow players in English assuming that the person who is batting can’t speak or understand English and in this case, the wicket keeper will tell the bowler how to bowl…sometimes it’s an instinct and sometimes it’s just a simple process of trial and error until you get a wicket)

There has been general discussion before the game, and between the captain and the bowler, and sometimes wicket keeper between overs, about strategy. However, there is no ball to ball communication between WK and bowler like there is in baseball. Very occasionally, and it is very rare, you will see the WK come to the bowler between balls and talk, which generally means he has seen something and is offering a suggestion. The bowler almost certainly wont respond to that on the next ball because he/she won't want to give away a new strategy. So the WK is watching the bowler's hand closely looking for what is coming. The most spectacular dismissals usually are between bowler and WK when they have been together for enough time for the WK to anticipate well what the bowler is doing.

Wicket keepers onow their bowlers. They should be able to respond instinctively to their bowler and the bowling they will likely perform. As for the speed of catching, fielding is instinctive and you don't have time to think. You find yourself just moving on instinct and your hand is in the right spot, no thinking.

Knowing which way to go is by experience, practice and skill alone. Occasionally there is talk between the bowler and wicket-keeper and they set something up, but that's not the norm, and none of the catches in the video would have fallen into that category.

Wicket-keepers also spend a lot of time 'standing up' which means, with relatively slower bowlers in action, they are only 2-3 feet behind the wicket. Sadly the video didn't show any catches in that scenario; they may not be 'leaping salmon' catches but are amazing reflex catches by really high-class keepers. They didn't show any great female keepers either.

Yes cricket is a stragedy game like chess. They are planning before and while the game with wicket keeper and other fielders about their fielding positions and type of balls needs to bowl eg: yoker, inswing,outswing, off spin etc...

Sometimes the field placements can entice batsmen to try to hit in a particular area. For example, if there is no fielder behind the batsman to defend the boundary, the batsman will try to score easy runs in that area. The bowler can sometimes bowl a ball to entice the batsman to play and to edge the ball to get those easy runs, the wicketkeeper is aware of this and so is the bowler. It can be a tactic that is discussed between Overs if they think the batsman is vulnerable for that type of dismissal. Generally though, I think the wicketkeeper is always watching the direction of the ball out of the bowlers hand and where it lands on the pitch, I assume he is also watching the body language of the batsman to predict the direction of the moving ball. Like with anything, if you do something thousands of times it becomes easier to read and predict.
