Hi Magnet. I am about to buy the Quadcore from Amazon. You showed a toggle for Wifi 5. But can it also do all the other ones? My Smart TV and PS4 will be wired so I guess it won’t matter for them, but my MacBook Pro(early 2013) and iPhone XS Max will be on Wifi.

Ich habe noch einen alten Speedport Hybrid (SPH) ganz in der Ecke am Fenster stehen, weil er dort den besten LTE-Empfang hat, jedoch für einen WLAN Router in der denkbar schlechtesten Position ist. Schlechter wäre es nur noch, wenn ich ihn auf den Fußboden stellen würde. Weil ich ein etwas moderneres WLAN und den Router besser aufstellen wollte, habe ich mich dazu entschlossen, den Huawei AX3 Quad-Core per LAN am SPH als WLAN AP zu betreiben und dessen WLAN zu deaktivieren. Was soll ich sagen? Der SPH ist einfach besser. Selbst in seiner unvorteilhaftesten Position ist sein Signal an allen Stellen meiner Einraumwohnung besser als oder ebenbürtig mit mit dem AX3. Beim AX3 habe ich den Eindruck, dass die Moleküle in der Luft noch das Signal beeinträchtigen können. Das Ergebnis kann ich auch gerade trotz der großen vier externen Antennen nicht nachvollziehen. In China wird das Teil, so wie ich das gehört habe, für umgerechnet knapp 20€ verscherbelt. Genau so viel sollte er auch hier kosten.

Hi Steven I've been search around the net without luck trying to get an answer. So I wonder if you might know or if you have any recommendations. It's like this, I'm searching for a "flat" router that is 30-40 mm thin, due to that is has to fit in to a cabinet and in the cabinet it won't be able to lift up the antennas 180 degrees. So do you know how this router performs without having the antennas up being closed (down)? And how thick is the router with the antennas down? Hi, is this reliable, durable, with great performance and no latency issues? Would it be good to act as a router to replace my Virgin Media Hub 3 which I want to put in modem modem mode? Does the AX3 have better components, range and performance than the Hub 3 or Hub 4? How is the security and privacy of this router? How many devices can the single and dual core hold up to maximum theoretically and does this drop in speed like the Hub 3? I notice there is no USB port on this router, is that a problem? Can we run VPN or OpenWRT on this? Could I theoretically plug this into my ISP Hub 3 in modem mode, use it as my main router and WIFI, then plug additional AX3's into the main AX3 and use it as a wireless access point? Is there a WebApp that i can use to manage the router portal or is it only an app? Would this be better than the budget TP-Link, Netgead, Belkin, Tendas or D-Link routers out there and if so, why?

As someone who's replaced their VM Hubs with AX3s, its far more reliable than VM Hubs which are prone to overheating and needing restarts. It's much faster too and more secure as it has WiFi 6 and WPA3, both of which only the Hub 5 has, 3 and 4 only have WP2 and WiFi 5. Privacy wise, the quad core version has commercial level hardware security and is certified as such, you can also set your own DNS which the VM Hubs limit you to Virgin's DNS. There is no USB port so you cannot connect a USB WWAN dongle or hard drive if you would use those things. You can run a VPN on it but you cannot install OpenWRT. The AX3 works well as a mesh device, you can connect one to your Hub which is modem mode, and link multiple AX3s wireless or with ethernet and it will act as the same network. You can manage all the device functions from a web browser without an app. Its the cheapest WiFi 6 router and its from a brand that's known for very good internet technology.

Would you recommend setting up a mesh network with this or use separate SSID's? As I'd want to configure one router as a VPN router.

AX3 will share the same settings once they are meshed so I don't believe you could configure just one router in a mesh as a VPN router. You could set up a mesh of two AX3s and connect the third to the Hub directly to have 2 networks, one with VPN and one without.

Quad Core has 256MBRAM, Dual Core has 128MB. Also the 2.4GHz does not have Amplifier apparently. "3000 Megabits" but it only has a Gigabit Ethernet port :)

@@vostfrguys With a 1Gb LAN connection, how can it ever shift 3Gbps. Its like having a Bugatti with a speed limiter set at 70MPH. With no LAG, its not even like it can be sending 1Gbps to one client and another 1Gbps to a second client. (Using MU-MIMO). And remember Wifi is Half Duplex in any case.

Also I think you misunderstood my last message, let's say you have a nas, or you have any device that shares somethings over the local network, its written it can transmit at 3gbps, let's say you're in bad conditions you might get only 500gbps... but anyway what would you transfer that requires a faster wifi ? Also its 3gbps at maxmium overall devices, but you can go higher if you have some devices that are connected using ethernet... Depends on what you want to do but chances are low you need better than this because otherwise you would have a higher budget for network hardware...

With due respect, this model is not good reasons why it is cheap. Mine is the Quad Code 1.4 Ghz version. After 1 year of using it, it keeps on disconnecting and telling your browser “network diagnostics”. My internet is 200 Mbps fiber optics. I try to contact Huawei about this issue but no solutions provided from their side except to reset and reset but doesn’t solve anything. I do not recommend it. It’s more of headache than solution.

Oho, am Schluss noch kurz gegen Fritzbox geschossen. In Österreich bringen da ja nicht wirklich was, weil man die ja nur bei wenigen Internetanbietern auch als Modem verwenden kann, aber in Deutschland sind die quasi das, was jeder für einen Aufpreis statt dem Standardmodem des Providers nutzen möchte.

haste recht, eventuell etwas falsch formuliert. Ich hab eine fritzbox LTE version als modem und muss sagen es ist das absolut stabilste modem dass ich hatte. Aber leider kein Wifi 6, ich häng den wlan router einfach an die Fritzbox und läuft :) momentan hängt aber google wifi dran. mal schauen was stabiler läuft. Muss echt sagen fritzbox ist top, aber wifi 6 bei denen dauert halt :D

Ужасный роутер! По жележу конечно вроде как все хорошо, но прошивки просто ужасны. Перепробывал уже 3 версии! Роутер работает в режиме моста, и при подключении напрямую к основному шлюзу все гугл сервисы работают нормально. При подключении через этот роутер, все сервисы гугла просто не открываются! Неоднократно проверил, дело имено в роутере! Также периодически роутер huawei просто отваливается от основого! Край цены 10 евро этому устройству!
