I like to hear from people with long term experience. Most products work fine brand new. A faster router is useless if it doesn't work or drop connections all the time.

Hey Everyone, trying to pick between the Asus GT-BE-98 Pro and the TP Link GE800, if yall had an option to purchase one of these today, which one would you get? So far its 50/50 between the two.

Ok one question. Do these routers replace the ISP router? Or how do I do the installation.
@landpetАй бұрын
Yes, it’s supposed to replace your isp router, not the isp modem

Follow the directions. Check KZbin for your chosen model. Use either mobile device wirelessly or Ethernet attached computer. Save grief, use ASUS routers, the best integrated routers, past, present, and future with the best UI or go with any OpenWRT capable routers if network admin professional (likely not).

I’ve had this question for a bit but it popped up in this video here, how do the 10Gb “aggregation” ports on the Archer BE800 work? Do I get 10Gb out of one when only one is used, and 5Gb out of both when both are used?
@landpetАй бұрын
Not sure I understand, The 10Gbps port allows speeds up to 10Gbps. Assuming the other devices are capable of those speeds. Aggregation is not required. In my case, my Internet speeds are 5Gbps, so that's what I get out of it because the router allows up to 10Gbps on those 10Gbps ports. So if my internet speeds were 10Gbps, then I should be able to get 10Gbps out of this router via Ethernet.

How many walls did the be800 penetrate through at 25ft,50ft and 100ft for these speeds and what frequency’s 2.4ghz,5ghz and 6ghz were you using for these tests ?
@landpetАй бұрын
No walls for the 20, 2 walls for the 50 and 100. I always try to connect to the fastest one that’s available unless it’s MLO. Can’t remember specifically for this.

What’s the biggest difference between the rs700 vs rs300, I know the amount of speeds are gonna be better on the 700 what are the antennas and other equipment about the same?
@spencergates5766Ай бұрын
The ports are quite different. The RS300 has a 2.5Gb WAN port and four 2.5Gb LAN ports, 2 being aggregate. And then yes, speeds, coverage, connected devices is all less.
@landpetАй бұрын
RS300 is basically a lowered spec version of this RS700

@ I’m replacing my Orbi RBR40 with the NIGHTHAWK RS300, I only have 1gig fiber should be OK. I think I wonder if I notice a difference 😆
@_TrueDesire_Ай бұрын
RS300 has less coverage, 185 square meters compared to 275 meters on the RS700. RS500 might be a good middle ground depending on local pricing, 12 Gbps and 230 square meters coverage.

Does anyone know if an Orbi R870 can be connected to a wifi 7 router? I have an RB870 and was wanting to upgrade to wifi 7 for certain devices but still use my RB870 for general devices like iOT. My fiber is being upgraded from 1GB to 3GB and thought I would upgrade. Just wondering if it's possible or not.

Orbi usually don’t play nice either others. I forget if the Orbi has access point mode or not, if it does, then it should work but sometimes there are issues with those setups.

Your tests are great, thanks! But I don't understand the differences between the TP Link deco series and the Archer routers. I mean the Archer routers are also mesh capable. Compare the Deco BE63 and the Archer BE9300, which one to choose 🤷🏽♂️
@landpet28 күн бұрын
I typically prefer the deco as a mesh solution and the archer as a standalone. You could mesh the archer routers but the deco is designed as a mesh from the ground up, so I typically prefer that

Your tests and comperes are useless until you put your network under load and turn on all security systems like QoS/ IPS / IDS firewalls etc.

I’m trying to find out the max speed tests. Just a heads up, I have a ton of IoT devices that are enabled. If the cameras detect motion, they will record and upload to the cloud. However the main stuff are not in use so I can see how fast the routers can go.
@roberturbanski2797Ай бұрын
@@landpet Max speed doesn't apply to real speeds. In most cases after you turn on QoS / IPS / IDS it goes down around 40-60%. No one want to use it without proper security, right ? If you do not turn it on I see here only another advertise
@AlbertoRodriguez-ot2ylАй бұрын
That is not totally true. I own an Tp-link AX4400 and does not have any security on. The only thing I have is the guest wifi on for iot devices. I have never had a security issue.
@anthonywkho123Ай бұрын
Tp link one is good in hardware but sucks on software as an example it does not allow account and password set up for OpenVPN and wire guard. Also in terms of smb on USB external drive it does not allow more than one admin account to be set up and also no option to set limitations to which folders are allowed read and write to different users.

Nighthawk has the smallest footprint since it’s just tall. The rest take up much more space. Nighthawk looks sleek with lights off. With the LEDs, the Archer GE800 looks best. ASUS routers look beefy

I have the BE11000, which is the same size as BE800. It's really not so bad. It has one of the smallest footprints at the base, so it's easy to find a place for it. The spider looking ones are just too visually intrusive.

Why are routers getting bigger?
@lukastemberger29 күн бұрын
@@tropico56 Higher frequency (6Ghz) is harder to reach longer distances and to penetrate though walls etc. So an antenna array is necessary to provide more directionality for the signal. Also, they have a lot more processing power needed to handle many devices connected at the same time. And then you also need better cooling... It all ads up :)

The test for speed is a half truth. These routers will not increase the speed for the ISP provider; that is a fact. Measuring the speed between an IoT device and a router is fine but does not reflect reality. Note that your test were done with a singular device that matches frequency and protocols. Adding another device with lower frequencies will cause the router to initiate a balance mode whereby the over all speed and frequencies will adjust to compensate to the slowest device. Unless all devices have equal parameters the balancing mode will kick in. Distance and frequency are something that one needs to keep in mind. The higher the frequency, the shorter the distance. The wifi router is of no value if it will not work in my backyard. Remember, all that glitters is not gold.
@landpet23 күн бұрын
Yup, I mention that the router can only go as fast as your internet speeds assuming the router can even go that fast. I do internet speeds tests and local speed tests. The local speed tests do consist of most of my testing because it’s typically more consistent compared to connecting to different servers at different times for internet speeds assuming tests. The device connects at the frequency it supports and can change the frequency to the lower 2.4GHz, the further away it goes. I can do a speed test on the same SSID with two different devices connected at two different frequencies and get very different results based on the device itself. My goal is to try and find the maximum speeds these devices can handle. You can also create separate SSIDs.

What’s the difference between the two Asus ones. The 96U seems better at everything compared to the 98 and the price difference is 400$-800$ now 😂
@landpetАй бұрын
The 98 pro has the extra 2.5Gbps ports and is a quad band. It should fare better with more devices because of the extra band but the 96U is also amazing and for the price, it’s the better option if you don’t need extra things I mentioned. There are some other benefits as well like game boosting and the rgb leds with the 98
