Hi Phil - This game showed we have steel and determination as well as very skilful players. RLB clearly sees benefits in using same players regularly to improve team understanding. With a doctorate in sport physiology and biomechanics from Rennes University, I think he'll rotate when necessary.

Hi Phil, absolutely our best win of the season no doubt about it. Two cracking goals and to be fair even the Luton goal was a good one. Patto was good and was Mepham and Luke. Let’s not let ourselves down on Saturday.

We've still got a fair bit of midfield cover with Aleksic, and to a degree Aouchiche. Always could switch to 4-4-2 as well. That was a horrible game to watch with constant route one football by Luton, and because of the size of the pitch, there's not much space, so the penalty area was very congested. Great resilience shown by the Lads 👍

Last 3 games if we picked up 1 or 2 points we couldn’t really complain. The fact we picked up 7 is a testament to the team spirit and the fact we now have players who can score with odd half chances. That tends to be difference between teams who go up and those who don’t

Biggest win of the season by a mile. I fully expected us to get bullied yesterday, so it was a very pleasant surprise.

Best game of the season for me, too. Total character. Basically, 100 minutes of near constant pressure and Kenilworth does not suit this Sunlun side. But they ground it out. This is what winners do. When did we last see a Sunlun side do this?

Great win. League one all over again. Dreadful stuff, but we rose to the aerial bombardment.

Phil you mentioned the January window, there’s stories of KLD telling Sunderland fans at Euston station after the Watford game they going to spend big in January. Have you heard anything to the contrary? One thing stood out last night for me was the distance of Patterson’s kicking. Could we utilise that better and mixing our play up? The yellow cards has me concerned, do we limit the risk by playing either Rigg or Jobe behind Isidore, taking them out of the equation? We know the league has its shithousery teams we can’t drop them so utilise them in a different role/position.

I’ve been thinking this, we always look like we play it short, so when we come up against front foot teams they start with a high defensive line and players ready to press our short goal kicks. We then have Patterson lump it over the high defensive line to the striker (especially because you can’t be offside from a goal kick). Either works as a 1 time thing or keeps the opposition guessing and more cautious in the press

Jobe, O'Nien, Rigg and Hume are all on 4 cards

Luton have just not adapted from 2 seasons ago its just lump it up & intimidate the opposition with the big guys !!!! O.k. it was never a classic !!!but we overcame the pressure & found them out with 2 gr8 goals from Chris & Romaine bring on Oxford 😊😊😊

Would he not just play Aleksic if they both got booked with Browne in too

if you have every Luton player instructed to launch the ball into the opponents box every time they get it, then the majority of the game will be paid in the opponents half. Having said that this is Tony Pulis tactics from years ago, I really did hope it had died out by now but no, Luton still use hoofball

They seemed to revert back to the long ball game when Ross Barclay moved on. I think they were praised last season in the Premiership with their possession based football

What a luxury, not to have to rush Dan back from injury, ensuring his full recovery 👍

You always defend Neil - gave the ball away in dangerous positions, missed an early opportunity and defended like an Under 8s for Luton goal. Needs to step up or be dropped!

He was man of the match v Hull, 2 assists in 2 from a 6 role. Been quality since his Watford mistake. Entitled to your opinion but not sure football is the right sport for you.

@@LDHallstar Motm v Hull ?? - and what was his assist - giving the ball to Isador 80 metres out!!! As a midfielder he doesn’t score goals. Jobe has goals, even Brown has goals, Riggas goals - but nothing from Neil despite many chances. As for football not been my sport. ! Signed professionally as a player and coached a semi professional team. Over to you!

On one of the occasions he gave it away he got a clear shove in the back, and throughout the game we barely had the ball on the floor

We have played better teams than Luton 😂
@davidbudding583618 сағат бұрын
Maybe so but it is their intensity in their press and the long ball which means you are under the cosh for large parts of the game. I don't think Luton had a lot of skill about them and the real class moments came from the two Sunderland goals.

I can only see Sunderland improving and gaining more momentum as the season progresses. As players come back from injury, depth of squad deepens and the January transfer window looms, I feel very confident of an automatic place at present This team is a seriously formidable unit with a very intelligent, forward planning manager. I'm fancying a bet on our chances right now Phil ❤🤍
