Pop filter is WAYY too close to the mic needs to be like an inch and a half away. More effective. Nevertheless great video

with the standard type shields i've heard it's more effective to keep it about 5-7" inches from the mic

Yeah I agree, when the air passes through the pop filter it diffuses it, and a small amount still makes it through, but because of how it diffuses and scatters the air. rather than going in a specific direction it simply spreads out and diffuses into the air but if the pop filter is put up against the microphone even if the air is diffused it will still reach the diaphragm

You have to keep the pop shield at least 3 inches away, that’s why basically none of them worked. Try the test again 3-5 inches away, and it will work WAY BETTER.

@@ee1yd It depends on the mic for sure. Most people who use pop filters use microphones that already have foam wind guards out of the box, and they still have plosives without the pop filter. Most mid to high end mics don’t come naked.

If you think you need a pop filter you are too close to the mic. Just position your mic correctly and keep your money. You don't need to swallow the mic for it to pick you up properly.
