Dude, just want to tell you how much I appreciate your efforts in doing the review. This is the kind of review that is very informative and does all the things that viewers want to try on a microphone. This is more than great! Thanks!

Best review on this Alvoxcon mic!! Well done!

Hi, can you connect other lapel microphones to it, or does it have to be exactly the one that comes with the transmitter? I ask because I see that there is a special plug and I have another Lavalier that doesn't have the metal part that acts like a little screw where you connect it to the transmitter?

Why do I hear a loud hiss sound, editing with final cut. Using dslr canon 80D. Bought same mic. I saw your review on the amazon Ad/review page. Already connected to Dslr input for mic with cable provided. What could be the problem? What other wireless mics do you recommend??
@microphonereviewsies76125 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure what the problem could be. I've encountered hiss before with this same mic, but I typically was able to get rid of it by adjusting the Alvoxcon unit volume and my camera volume settings, along with changing the frequency channel. To answer your mic question, my question would be, how much are you looking to spend? Hands down for headset mics, DPA is my favorite, but those mics are hundreds, possibly over a thousand dollars. If you are looking for a mic free of belt packs, then the brand Special Projects makes the best true evo headset mic. As far as Lapel mics, I love my Synnheiser, but once again many hundreds of dollars for this system. But all these mics here still need editing in post production to get the best sound. I use Waves Mercury plugins to edit and master my audio. Even the Alvoxcon mic can sound good or even better than an unedited expensive mic if edited well. In some cases the audio editing one makes can make the biggest difference of all.

I'm not sure how helpful this comment is, but I used to use my canon t5i for video production (I'm pretty sure that's a similar vintage setup as the 80d), and canon's microphone preamps are REALLY noisy to the point where the best recommendations from people are to turn the volume all the way down to 1 (one up from mute), and then use a powered shotgun microphone with +10 gain (like some of the rode products have). Personally I got so frustrated with it that I ended up moving completely to an external recorder (a zoom h4n pro) that I plug my mic into and record into that while also recording audio with my camera and then bringing the audio and video file together in premiere and using premiere's automatic synchronization feature to match up the wave forms to sync the audio perfectly then mute the camera's audio channel and edit as normal. it's an extra step but it was the only way I found to reliably get good audio when using my canon dslr for video. I have since moved on to using panasonic mft cameras (specifically the lumix g85 and liked it so much I bought a lumix g7 for a b cam as they have identical sensors so quality/color matching is ideal, they also have the same battery and lens systems making life easy on me.) both the onboard microphones (which i've used for vlogging type content in a pinch), and the mic preamp on the mic inputs are so much higher quality and cleaner than the one found on my t5i.

Thanks for your video… few questions: - when you record what level volume did you record with? It goes up to 20 but are you on maybe 6-7-8? - also when you import the files in final cut x are you importing stereo 48hz or 44.1? Thanks bunch… I’m asking because I have such high pitched voice on my last recording which is hard to spot on final cut edit but you can heard it when imported

Hey, just wondering. If you were to use this in a basic play with the two microphones, will they both work with two people talking at the same time. If so is there a maximum on how many microphones will work at once?

Hey, great edit. Question about the volume settings. What volume level's do you suggest putting the camera and alvoxcon at?
@microphonereviewsies76125 жыл бұрын
Looking back, I don't remember exactly what I had it at. I would imagine for different cameras the settings could be different. I used a Sony a6500 to record this and I may have had the Alvoxcon mic at a higher volume level and adjusted the camera volume level based on the circumstance I was recording in, whether the background was louder or not. I acknowledge I'm not able to really answer your question here. If you haven't tried already, I would recommend trying different settings. Also the settings would probably be different for the headset too since the mic is much closer to your mouth. Thanks for asking this question. I may think about including this info when making future mic reviews

All I can say is... It's a lot better than the "RODE Wireless GO". I remember a guy reviewed the "RODE Wireless GO" a few days ago, when he talks with his back on the camera (he was facing away from the camera), the RODE Wireless GO will no longer pickups his voice, it only pickups when he was facing the RODE transmitter LOL. imaging you are buying a product like $210 and then a cheaper alternative like this on this video works better than that $210 Rode.

Duh -- never mind! I just remembered that I have an adapter that came with my phone. Whoops!
@microphonereviewsies76125 жыл бұрын
My guess is probably, you just have to get the correct adapter cable for your phone. This mic system is not too different from any other lavalier mic system out there, which I would imagine you would need an adapter cable to run most mic systems on your iphone.

HOW do you connect it to iphones?
@microphonereviewsies76125 жыл бұрын
For this you will need to buy a special adapter for this to connect to your iphone. I don't have an iphone myself and am not familiar with the settings once you do connect it. When selecting the right adapter, you could probably use whatever the connector port is for your iphone going to a TS 1/8th inch audio connection. Do not buy a TRRS 1/8th inch jack cable even though it looks like the same connector because that type of connector is mainly for Android phones.
