p.s. It makes me really sad-- probably, from what I've seen, sadder than it makes you, lol, and good on you for not letting it get to you-- that 1) all you are doing is telling the truth, and working really hard to be clear, fair and enlightening, and you're getting flack for it; and 2) you not only bend over backward, but practically turn yourself into a pretzel, trying to anticipate misunderstandings and avoid them by being extra, extra clear, yet people evidently-- based on what you said in the beginning of this video-- keep misunderstanding you. This would drive me nuts (well, it does drive me nuts...when it happens to me) and I just can't understand how people repeatedly fail to hear what you are not just saying, but underlining and highlighting again and again. So...props to you for that, too. Glad you're hangin' in...and with no sign that I can see of your wanting to say the heck with it, like some have done in the face of such reactions. Seems to me you have an important role to play as a teacher. In fact, if your occupation is not that of "teacher," maybe it should be-- but if your job is something else, I hope you get paid better than we pay our teachers. Thanks for all the great videos and for helping me keep on top of what's going on with the latest WNBA/Clark craziness.

Women cannot jump as high as men, its not an insult to lower the rim and most are not as tall as men. The rim height should be base on women's average standards. That way the ones who can do it have a legitimate shot at dunking, using the men's height nobody can. For example, if there was a women's baseball league they would not keep the same ball field dimensions, they have for men they would have to move the fences in so they would have a legitimate chance based on womens strength to hit a homerun. Otherwise, I dont think you would see very many homerunsif any if using mens standards.

My take isn't going to jibe with a lot of people because I've never much cared to watch basketball. For me, the dunking is interesting to watch initially because of the athleticism of actually doing it, but I still have never really been interested in watching basketball. Yeah, I'm one of the new 'casual' fans as they call someone like me. When I first encountered Caitlin Clark, I was enthralled with her skill, not just at shooting, but with her moves and her passing. She passes like an NFL quarterback, leading players; so they'd better get to where the ball is or they'll miss it. Full-court passes timed just perfectly to arrive where the player should be running to is really exciting to watch. Analogously, watching football players bump and grind and tackle each other is part of football, but there's something about a quarterback passing the ball that's extremely elegant and fascinating. Back to the shooting, watching someone launch a ball from beyond the three-point line is just as fun to watch as a quarterback passing, but Caitlin doing it from beyond 30 feet ... regularly ... is something I found addicting. I LOVE watching her shoot the ball from 30 feet; it's amazing. Combined with her passing and her deceptive footwork, I find her can't-miss-TV. Again, a lot of people will disagree with me, and that's fine because everybody likes different things, but I don't need to see women dunking, as I don't care about dunking. So they can leave the rim at ten feet because skilled players launching the ball from a distance is a beautiful thing to watch. But that's just me.

What’s crazy is they don’t want to lower the rims cause it’s not “all about dunking” and disrespectful to them. But they already play with a smaller ball. If they were so for equality they would use the mens sized ball. They just don’t want to assimilate to a style of play that would bring in views. Clark is literally saving them. Cause if it wasn’t for her they’d be in for another net negative year smh
@jacquescousteau2173 ай бұрын
The W ball is something like one inch in diameter smaller than the NBA. The hoop is 10 ft for both leagues, and the 3 point line is 23 ft 10:inches for NBA and 22 ft for the W - both approximate as I’m doing this off top of my head - . Reality check on the W with Clark shooting treys. She nails it from the men’s league distance possibly 75% of the time. She’s often at the logo. The ONLY a really difference for Clark, and I’m sure others is the weight of the ball. The W should in my opinion make both leagues play with the same metrics . Realize it’s more difficult to get a slightly smaller ball in the basket than a slightly larger ball when you’re playing inside. It would seem harder to get the bounce off the backboard or rim with a smaller lighter ball. Just put a small basket on the floor maybe fifteen ft away, and shoot hard balls , and larger soft balls ( baseballs obviously) . See which ball goes in your basket the most . That’s total conjecture on my part but seems logical to me . Make everything standard . Women will adapt . They may have to put on a little muscle, but it would prove very interesting. The W should try a few off season games to try it out for say a month, and see how the gals adapt …

It's just as much fun to see ankle breaking with a between the legs crossover as a dunk. The bounce pass on the money through a crowd. There are lots of ways to make the game fun. Steve Nash was fun to watch, not exactly a dunking titan. The lack of fun is why people love to watch CC. She is FUN to watch. I don't think dunking on a 9 foot hoop would be exciting anyway. It’s more to it than that. If it’s Harlem Globetrotters level of basketball. Now you got something cooking. But to me, you can’t resist half court alley oops for example, making slick passes like a sneaky bounce pass between the legs like Chris Webber once executed, watching a serious shooting display like KD did on Sunday, or a ridiculous fake out to the point that instead of making a layup, you make one of those rarely made drop passes that as routinely would be made by Stockton to Malone conversion. Otherwise, we don’t have women to that affect yet. But Caitlin do play like a dude though. Finally, u can tell see watches tape on basketball players in the past that was high octane assist makers fo sho😎
@JohnAWPBFL3 ай бұрын
False pride might make them feel insulted about the lower rim at first but when they see that they’re making more ESPN Top 10 plays and that the game is more fun for them and viewers they’ll embrace it. More viewers might mean more money in their pockets also. They would adjust to the new height much sooner than later. I did say that they can try it out for a year or 2 and if it doesn't work then they can go back. The 3-point line is shorter for the WNBA than the NBA. The basketball is smaller for the WNBA. An NBA game is 48 mins. while a WNBA game is 40 mins. The W(WE)NBA needs a new Commissioner who will take charge. A real commissioner would lower the basket 6 inches so that more women can dunk consistently. Even if they try it for a year or two to gauge the results. Men and women are equal but they are not the same.

It's the NBA's fault for pouring money into a failing league for decades. Any other league would of had to make changes to make the product more entertaining. The NBA, the NFL, MLB etc. make changes constantly to the rules to make the product more entertaining. The WNBA shouldn't dismiss any type of idea to make the league more watchable. They should of lowered the rims, added a 4 point line, made it half court, tried whatever to make it more entertaining. Instead the NBA continues to advertise for them, shoehorn them into 2k games, and NBA ads etc. Let them fail on their own.

There is nobody in the WNBA comparable to anyone in the NBA. But, legitimately, the WNBA games are better to watch than NBA games. WNBA play defense and have better basketball action than the NBA. The NBA looks like a men’s YMCA rec league. Doesn’t mean the ladies are better, but the NBA is laughable right now.

That was pissing off until you got back on track. Actually what hurt is that is was the truth until 2024 . I was a huge Celtics fan during the 1980,s .Then as I was getting older I only occasionally watched the NBA albeit only a Chicago, L.A. or my hometown San Francisco. I did however follow the playoffs but NEVER the W. Man that changed this year. CC, and Angel changed the game. I’m biased towards CC but take nothing from Reese until she started padding her stats . With that said Angel has turned that around when CC, and Angel played together for the first time professionally.

"making a living off of wild drives to the basket" - well... that does kinda sum up LeBron, except I'd add "and getting bailed out with foul calls."

If race was actually a factor as to which sports were the most popular, then hockey, Golf, Tennis, and Soccer would be the top four sports in America! ; ) The fact is that sports transcend racial issues and bring people of all skin colors and backgrounds together.... but saying that isn't going to generate clicks and create conversations for sports talk shows.

They don't have a problem with using a smaller ball than NBA, so why the problem with lowering the height of the basket.
@frankbrien44552 ай бұрын
The league should lower the rim an inch every year for the next 6 years...these players would probably think they're getting more athletic 😅
@stephenland31663 ай бұрын
First and foremost The women use a smaller basketball already, so who are they to act like? It's absurd to say. Maybe we should lower the rim a little bit for them as well. What a joke. Why isn't anyone pointing that ad to him that they have to have a smaller basketball to play.

NBA verses WNBA Facts: WNBA Smaller court, smaller ball, less games played, less clock time, less experienced refs, wnba subsidized. But no, let's not lower the rim!
@battlerapperd16542 ай бұрын
Don't lower the rim. It makes the two games different.
