BUT THEY WONT DO THAT and Clark will struggle.
@jonjon50355 ай бұрын
I don't believe there is a single time a team failed to go too far against Jordan because he had enforcers. Detroit's strategy was to knock Jordan to the floor whenever he went to the basket. To say Caitlin Clark "absolutely stinks at basketball" is absurd. Look at her record at Iowa. She's taking her rookie lumps, adjusting to her team and the league. One thing not often mentioned is that she's beginning her pro career just weeks after a deep run in the NCAA tournament. At times she looks physically spent. You can't make 3's when your legs are heavy. But she'll be fine, she's a great all-around player. As for her team, the Indiana Fever, I'm not so sure.

I still don't understand why they don't want to lower down the rim from 10 feet to 9 or maybe 9'6" to see if better plays can come around. Is like if volleyball women were to try to play in an 8' net.., it would be horrible. Having no other options to get more viewers, if I were them, I would lower the rim to 9'6"
@skap_attack5 ай бұрын
I agree it is at least worth exploring...BUT. Lowering the rim SUBSTANTIALLY alters the trajectory and feel of the jump shot. So shooting touch and feel that has been "mastered" by some women would be thrown to complete shit by lowering it. So you might be enabling them to dunk, or some to dunk, but you might make their jump, shooting even worse.

To be fair to Clark, it's a bit ridiculous that WNBA players have to start their season less than a month after the draft. The NBA, meanwhile, has about four months between the draft and the regular season. Players have time to acclimate themselves to the NBA. Clark was expected to do too much too soon.

When it comes to Clark, of course she is the one drawing more attention to the WNBA. This is nothing new. Sports leagues are going to try to milk stories for as much as they can. This has happened a 100 times before. It's nothing to get mad about. If hit helps them get more ratings and revenue, ride it until the wheels fall off. Honestly, I never understood the Angel Reese hype and her defenders. IF I wasn't a fan before, why would I come one after her beef with Clark or because some people were extremely unfair to her on social media? We have been trying to overhype Angel Reese ever since then. What she said was idiotic. Others have been asked the same question, and they didn't try to make it about themselves. People try to make Reese a victim or poster child. Now I don't agree that Clark is "terrible." She's a rookie adjusting to a different level of play. She isn't the first rookie that his ever happened to. I'm sure her Freshman year in Iowa wasn't like her last two. She's getting her lumps right now. She had a decent game or two and she had some bad ones. That's going to happen. The Fever are like the Bengals and Browns used to be or the Wizards. They're one of those teams that is just always bad. I see no problem with the attention surrounding her as long as it doesn't turn into people pushing on us after a couple of seasons of her not showing anything like they do with Lebron.

Of course a woman is going to flop bruh, we don't expect them to handle pain and contact like men, women's game is never going to be the men's game, the best thing they can do is work on skill elements like shooting and dribbling, the physicality will never be there. The WNBA should be marketing Clark vs Reese every time they get the chance. Only small thinkers believe Clark would be this big without the Reese incident during the 2023 NCAA Women's Tournament Championship Game... People need to understand that Clark and Reese are linked, just like Magic and Bird. The WNBA needs to capitalize, just like the NBA did 45 years ago. ALL Chicago Sky vs Indiana Fever games should be flexed to primetime, on preferably on Thursday nights during the summer.

What that league needs is someone who can shoot a fadeaway and develop an effective mid-range and post-up game. I've been trying to wrap my head around the abysmal FG percentages across the league, and I think the basic truth is that WNBA players are just really bad at creating space on shots. They're always going straight up into the defenders, and don't have the finesse to hit contested shots at a high clip.

I usually agree with Skap, but I disagree with some of his points on this one. I don't think the WNBA or women's basketball in general is bad basketball. I can find clips of bad play from any league just like they did in "We Done With the 90s." There are lots of talented women. They just don't have the athleticism and artistry of the men. On the college level I probably watch the women more than the men. I really don't like to make the ratings comparisons of different leagues. Whether it's different leagues in different countries or different conferences in college, the ones getting less views aren't necessarily playing a bad brand of ball. There are lots of reasons why more people watch one over the other. I would imagine that there was time people listed to more MLB games on the radio that Negro League games or people paid less attention to the ABA than the NBA. In sports in general I think there is a lot of good ball in general played in smaller leagues and conferences. Now when it comes to the pay issue people have to use logic. The NBA and WNBA are not going to pay their players the same. Anyone being logical knows that if you bring more money in, you can give more money out. Despite what I said about smaller leagues, I get annoyed having to argue with people that smaller leagues and conferences shouldn't revolt because ESPN or some other sports network doesn't pay out as much as they would for someone else. I understand that there are other factors at play, but logic should tell you that you get paid based on what ROI someone thinks they will get. That was not a flop on the flagrant foul. That look way like the natural way you would foul when compared to Lebron and others

She hasn't been as bad as her regular stats make her out to be. Her PER is essentially league average. If she was the 6th Man (6th Woman?) for the best team in the league, she'd be an asset; high energy, unlimited shooting range, clutch genes. She's the #1 pick for her skills, not just her star power. Kobe struggled as a rookie too. I want to see how Caitlin adjusts. Agree on all other points.

Caitlin Clark is the only reason why crowds have broken all the attendance records and the sports TV ratings. She is the main reason why the WBA is getting all the new interest and attention. Reese is a drama queen, who is always looking for or doing things to get attention. She got her chance to get major national attention by making derogatory hand signs to Caitlin in front of the TV cameras. She knew she would make national news by taunting the best generational player to come along in years; and it worked, Reese has gotten national recognition by her gluttonous behavior. There is no connection between Clark and Reese; only by Reese, trying to create one and squeeze her own narrative to try to share in the recent fame of Clark. That’s what drama queens do. They bud into everything and want everyone to, “look at me!”.
