As an avid boba drinker- if you want matcha that tastes like something you can get from a good boba cafe, get jade leaf! I love matcha, and I LOVE boba, but it gets pricey to buy boba all the time. Also, getting the cafe style jade leaf matcha powder, which is pre- sweetened, is a bit cheaper than ceremonial but still perfect for satiating my boba cravings. And you can even get a 2 pound container of it, which lasts me months!

@@RC-qf3mp Honestly, I don't necessarily disagree with you, but this also depends on how busy one's lifestyle is. For her to be able to Afford each type of tea + film would have to be done at least daily before editing and/or uploading it. Also, for me personally, I'd never spend anywhere near $20 on matcha alone. I recently found a Strawberry Matcha latte powder bag for about $7, but less than HALF the bag is filled with the Matcha 🙄-is $7 really *worth* not even a half-filled bag when I blow through it so much? Ceremonial grade Matcha is always better for drinking because it tastes the best. But you can drink culinary grade Matcha too, I do all the time because it's a lot less expensive. You get the same health benefits from both. I have found Kenko brand Matcha to be really good.
@nickhayley Жыл бұрын
The problem is, it is not regulated. Anyone can call matcha ceremonial. You have to try it and learn from others. In Australia, I buy from Zen Wonders matcha. They have an exceptional range and interestingly don't just sell the best matcha. They sell a range of quality that is appropriately priced. If you want to drink the best matcha they have, the Yukiro matcha is exceptional in every way. The matcha has no astringency, is smooth, creamy, light and earthy and leaves a gentle nutty flavour on completion of the sip. I often taste notes of raw cacao and walnuts. It is absolutely A1 grade and TRUELY a ceremonial quality 👌.
@nickhayley Жыл бұрын
And while no studies exist that I'm aware of that compare the antioxidants of lower vs higher grade matcha, higher grade matcha had a higher level of L-Theanine content which moderates caffeine effects among all the other effects.

@danielleguam2 ай бұрын
This is true! although color can sometimes be an indicator, it is not always the case because there are different blends of matcha which can impact the color. The true indicator is the taste but it really comes down to preferences. The flavor profiles of matcha can vary between earthy, fresh, bitter tones to flowery, citrusy, mild tones. It all depends on how the tea craftsmen blend them together and the process of doing so.

Honestly, my Matcha teas get clumpy too so here's a tip for those (esp. those who like it iced)-another method for this purpose: Use a Martini shaker and no I don't drink alcohol at all, but it surprisingly works. Add a small amt. of your milk of choice (or those who prefer it with water), then add matcha powder (depend. on how much u like, try to make a semi-equal, liqiud-matcha powder ration) and add about 1-3 ice cubes. And shake it gently for about 20-30 seconds or so. Also: Highly Recommend SHAKING this Over the Sink. When using a martini shaker, it is capable of flowing out of the top of it.

Jade leaf organic culinary is the best taste and value, when you get past that level most ppl can't notice unless they are some sort of tea sommelier professional!! I agree with her about Pure Chimp. It's pretty bad. 😝 I bought a jar of it last summer out of curiosity and her description is pretty on point. Not worth the price and the glass container allows the tea to oxidize quickly letting it become stale. I read reviews and also check the photos of the tea packaging and description to make sure the tea is grown in Japan, not China. There is a huge difference in color, quality and flavor.

I’m so glad you helped me find matcha sense. I’m curious as to where it would fall on this list. Thanks!

Is it possible to have decaffeinated matcha? I’m super caffeine sensitive but can’t always handle matcha’s caffeine content.

I’m sensative to caffeine, matcha doesn’t give you the jitters gives you alertness, energy and so much

11:04 made me laugh😂 Thanks for the very detailed review. I watched another review with way more views and they rated the chimp matcha high. I trust your review more than theirs because of how you compared them all visually on the white screen and included price as well👍🏼

I believe they use Ujido ceremonial blend matcha. If you're stateside, WinCo has it for $9.

While I was really happy with most of this review, the texture of the power when dry should have absolutely no impact on whether the tea is "watery" or not. If it is too watery, it means you've added too much water. If you're using identical weights of matcha for each bowl, then a finer powder will simply have a more pleasant light foam and stay in suspension much longer. A thicker powder ironically will appear more watery as you put it because instead of an even matcha distribution throughout the water, there will be clumps of matcha in smaller spaces leaving areas of water that do not have matcha within that area. Obviously, this is on a micro scale we're talking about. This has prompted me to provide more information about my own matcha experiences. If you could explain what you meant to clarify your explanation, I'd be really grateful.
