I am so glad to run across your channel. My husband and I have been resellers for six years. We did not take it too seriously until two years ago when our daughter left for pharmaceutical school. Everything we earn goes straight to help her with expenses. So we made a decision about a month ago to begin selling high end handbags. We are not at a high end level yet. There is much more of a learning curve for us to get down pat. Currently we are trying to stock up on bag of around a $100 range. With hopes to learn the market and take more risks. This is funny the first date I went on with my husband I carried a beautiful green purse. Nothing expensive. But cute. When he came to pick me up his first comment was that’s a nice purse. Lol. I did not know what to think. He is really a nice person. Now we are in our later Middle Ages. Enjoying watching our daughter step into her beautiful life. So if we can help through the love of handbags why not. Sounds fun. And we are ready to get educated. Thank you so much for sharing your expertise. My worst handbag was purchased in a lot of bags. I liked everything in the lot except for one, a fake Louis Vuitton. All I know to do it to throw it away. It’s so fake it’s embarrassing. I have kelp it tucked away but will dispose of it properly. Nothing worse than an extremely bad fake Hand bag. The lot I purchased was for handbags only so they were not trying to pass it off. So I never mentioned it to the seller. Just gave her a good rating and let it be. Would hate to hurt another reseller especially if they did not know better. She will learn in time. And hopefully not be horrified at remembering that mistake. Thank you again, Leslye

Wow, that's really helpful. I mean, no, "you can't take it with you", but maybe she prefers spending her money on other things like travel or nice restaurants. I don't think her aversion to spending is something to belittle. Some people aren't used to spending money like that even when they can afford it.

Styled4Life For me, it's a case of investing wisely. If im trying to buy my 1st home, more than just I really like it comes into play. If it's a money pit, overpriced for the area, etc you'r not gonna buy the money pit just because you like it or because you like the aesthetic outside. I'm not able to purchase these brands regularly (like most ppl) so when i do it can't be a fad. I want to spend my coin wisely on something that can be passed down for generations.

Though I like your thoughts on investment pieces I personally can not agree on limited edition items. Of the 19 designer handbags I own only 2 of them are classic for the brand: my Bottega Veneta Roma and my Gucci Boston handbag. When the Chanel Dallas - Paris Metiers D'Art came out in the USA this whole collection sold quickly especially in what we would call "western states". I purchased 3 items from this collection being that I'm Texan through and through and continue to search this collection on the resell market. My Chanel Texas Satchel was purchased for 4200USD and most recently sold on eBay by another seller for 6100USD. I'm not parting with any of my collection as I have 3 daughters that will eventually own everything of mine. Yet another example of buying limited edition items would be anyone having items from LV's collaboration with artists such as Stephen Sprouse, Yayoi Kusama, El Seed to name a few. Those collections are always searched for on the resale market and you can very well get back all your money as time passes. Anyway, nice video and as always keep filming!

Hey good to hear from you! I suggest to get a good background - you could start watching my new series on handbags as investments! I think in short either would be a good buy. Perhaps monogram has slight edge over damier - in terms of each bag. Research how long they have been in production for and look at the prices rises over time so you can work out the better investment. Similar to: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qp-9ZHdjrtZ9eaM

Hi! So I'm buying my first designer bag soon and im torn between a Louis Flower Hobo in Bordeaux or a Mulberry Zipped Bayswater in Dark Blush... would you count the Louis as a 'trend led piece?' In my mind its going to be a sentimental purchase and something i'll love forever but i like the reassurance that it'll have good resale value before spending so much money. Any advice would be much appreciated PS, thanks for the awesome and informative video!
@Timpanys6 жыл бұрын
Hey Abi - great to hear from you. I would suggest researching a few things: 1) how long each model has been produced for 2) what the prices have done over that same time period 3) what the prices are like on the second hand market. If you see the prices trending up over time and the second hand market looks strong that would be a good indicator. I would also suggest that you sell as soon as you stop using them (if you ever do!) - that way you get the most back!

When you say "investments" do you mean something you hoped to resell later to to recoup a significant amount of money or in a looser sense that it was something you spent your money on hoping it would be a good quality purchase? I have several Marc Jacobs bags that have held up well, aren't flashy and aren't seen everywhere in NYC. But I don't consider them investment pieces like a 2k and up designer bag where it will still be a good classic piece in 5-10+ years. They are more fun, casual bags to me, not serious, luxury bags. Same category as MK and RM.

I try to look at it this way. I may have spent 1600 but if I got 600 for it, then I actually bought that 1600 bag for 1000 instead. Hope that helps to ease your disappointment. Just need to look at it from the glass half full perspective.

Rochelle Amadeo I guess it’s done now now whenever I purchase a bag I look to see what the reach so value of that bag is so that I know that if I want to sell bag in the future I will definitely be able to make money off of it versus taking a financial hit on the bag.
@rochelle79017 жыл бұрын
Hi Melanie, Yes I understand what you mean. I do the same. I love luxury handbags too and I've made a few mistakes, especially in the resell area. If I take a loss I just make myself feel better by saying what I had told you earlier. It makes that ouch not so painful. Although my husband says that if handbags were like the stock market, I'd still make a killing? LOL! Happy Holidays!

I would have to respectfully disagree...Hermes crocodile Birkin bags that are bought for around £30k have been some of the most expensive bags to sell at auction. It just depends what you buy and if you use it.
@bluebird49026 жыл бұрын
I used to think this too*for bags atleast) muscle classic cars go for more than they did and some bags resell for more simply because the new ones spike up in price and thus the resale price jumps too
I just bought a JIMMY CHOO MONA style bag at GoodWill. I found GOLD right? Lol, WRONG!!!! After I resold it I found out it was. KNOCKOFF! OMG! I was so EMBARASSED! She was really nasty because she thought I did it on purpose. But honestly before I got that bag I had never seen a JIMMY CHOO anything. I'm a broke girl lol. I only paid a few dollars for it and I can get at least $50 out of it so I'm still coming out waaay ahead. I Will be researching my second hand store items from now on. 😨😇

Do you consider the LV pochette metis more of a classic bag? And also what about the Chanel mini rectangular
@Timpanys7 жыл бұрын
BEAutifulkiss21100 hey great to hear from you. I would consider a classic bag - anything that is produced season after season. It is safer as when they are produced the next year they generally go up in price. If you're looking to buy something for investment as well as love I would suggest tracking its price over time for a few years. Also above all - buy what you love! ❤️
@Timpanys7 жыл бұрын
Hey!...so sorry I tried to reply to this on my phone and maybe it didn't work. I consider a classic bag - anything that is produced year after year and therefore results in the price going up. Have a look at the production history and track the prices - this will help you deciede what to buy in to if you are looking to make wise investments! :O)
