I like sculpey 3 for charms I will say it is hard to work with but definitely do holes or the metal charm little loop things first I’d say its okay for charms and modeling more love it for modeling though cause it soft and adds kinda smoothing effect which I like the problem I have usually with it is finger prints a little but thats all really haven’t really tried it with like gemstones yet but will plan on trying just to see (edit its also a bit soft so you have to watch that a little I help my mom with fondant on cakes so thats why I’m probably used to it more)
@roxyroadclayco.82433 жыл бұрын
Ive never thought about it for charms. I’ve been thinking about making little charms so I’ll keep that in mind because I have a few bricks of sculpey 3! To help with finger prints you can wear gloves….just make sure they are smooth ones like the blue surgical ones.

@@roxyroadclayco.8243 Its more of like small type cute charms I made terraria trophies from a videogame into little charms and they came out perfectly I find when you bake it a little more it hardens a bit better like if it needs 30m or something I still do 45m-1hr cause I can usually tell if it not 100% right obviously without burning but I’m surprised how well it hardens when I did it but I didn’t do like really thin pieces like a medium thick thin pieces I can see breaking I use wires a lot for more like arms and stuff cause I’m more on I want to know it secure but really is good for starter charms if you get those straight wires with the circle ring I forgot what there called really

Yes, you can. I prefer to use Sculpey soufflé or premo over fimo!

Great Video but I have to disagree with your Sculpey III comment. At least in my case I haven’t had any problems. I pre-bore my holes (ie before the oven) and with any clay the thickness affects its durability.

Haii, just a little tip, no idea if you already know this: but if you put your head up, so your neck is all the way straight up, your throat closes! and i noticed in this video you tended to do that a lot, which makes it so you can't keep sentences going for too long. It's a little tip i got from singing class! see what you do with it, i subscribed and am curious as to what you will do with the channel! Greetings, MJ

You missed Fimo Soft which was that one I want to know about :(
@roxyroadclayco.82433 жыл бұрын
Hi there! Fimo soft is a good clay too. Personally I find myself reaching for sculpey products more often, but if you can’t get your hands on sculpey (soufflé or premo) then Fimo soft is a good choice too! Sometimes I find myself having to condition it more than other clays or sometimes it’s a little crumbly for me. If that happens to you just add clay softener or liquid clay! I hope this help! If you have any further questions feel free to ask! :)
@hollyhope72273 жыл бұрын
I just bought a big pack of black fimo soft! And I am so diappointed. It is way too soft, it smears, it stretches. I cannot put it into a silikon form, unless it stretches up to the moon, when trying to get it out. I hate it. It frustrates me so bad, that I really think of throwing it into the garbage. Actually I wanted to design wine glasses with it to look epic. But just to touch it gives me a feeling of throwing up. You have an idea how to get that s...harder??
@roxyroadclayco.82433 жыл бұрын
Personally for me in the summer months I can’t work with fimo soft. It’s just too soft for me. I have tired freezing it for a bit I usually do 10 minutes to 45 minutes depending on how inpatient I am. It just helps firm it up a bit but if I do not do this I can’t work with it in the summer. Majority of the time for me when it starts to stick & get gooey like I have over worked it, it’s too warm, or it could have too much oil in it. If its got to much oil in it, just roll it out on printer paper and it will leach it :) I hope this helps!!

@roxyroadclayco.82432 жыл бұрын
I personally don’t like fimo soft that much as it’s too soft for me. I’ve used it a few times and i haven’t had a problem with the durability of it or baking it. I personally find it a bit difficult to work with as it can be too soft sometimes.

Can I mix two different brands of clay together ?
@roxyroadclayco.82433 жыл бұрын
Which two brands are you looking to mix? You can mix premo & soufflé together with no problems. If you mix sculpey with fimo just take in consideration that fimo bakes at a lower temperature. I would test it before you make a big batch just mix a little piece and bake it. Bake it at the highest temperature out of the 2 and make sure you “tent” your work. Tenting means to take a piece of foil and make a little tent over your creation that way it doesn’t burn.
