Coach Rory, I’m starting to get “the obstacle is the way”, thank you for that insight. It applies everywhere.
@MikeBaas Жыл бұрын
I finally did this. It takes some time initially for the kids to get it, similar to the first time BOOTB. After all, it is just a pattern. The kids pretty quickly were able to self-organize. I thought it was good!

good set up for working on individual skills for a team. I don't like the bottom of the foot pull backs while dribbling though, I'd much prefer to see an outside foot 180. better habit to develop.

Let me know how it goes! Younger ages can take a little time to get it. And you might have to coordinate the cadence.

Hi Coach Rory - love this concept and can’t wait to use it! When you say you do minimal technical training, how do you coach dribbling and ball control skills? I typically do “technhcal” dribbling skills first in practice before moving on to group dynamic exercises focused on passing and shooting. Admittedly my U10 kids are less engaged during the first part 😊
@CoachRorySoccer Жыл бұрын
Just given the time I have each week (two 1.5 hour practices) I don’t feel it’s a great use of time doing dedicated technical stuff. Certainly there are technical aspects of everything I do. But individual technical work I put on the player to do outside of training.

This is a great setup. Already looking at how to do some passing patterns within it as well.

Yeah you can really get creative with it. My video I might show how I progressed this to a passing pattern.

I agree, this looks dope. I will try with my U9 girls. About how long per each move/foot? And how long all together to keep girls interests up? Cheers, good stuff
@CoachRorySoccer Жыл бұрын
A few cycles with each foot/move. You don’t want it to get monotonous for the players. In total probably 20 mins

What is the technical homework you give your players you mentioned in previous videos.
@CoachRorySoccer Жыл бұрын
Right now we use an app called “Techne” but I need to do a video on technical homework because I was giving them specific training before the club got the app.

Hey Coach! Another fantastic video. Do you typically go through all categories (technical, faints, and 1v1) each session? Or do you mix it up? I'd assume you spend between 20-30 minutes on this?
@CoachRorySoccer Жыл бұрын
Yeah 20 mins or so. And it depends on the level of the group. I highly skilled group can get through a lot more etc.

@@renerivera8312 sure! The passing progression I did after this removes the red and blue cones and we do a “up back through” pattern. I might do a separate video on that.

What dimensions are your outside and inside boxes for the indoor session?
@CoachRorySoccer Жыл бұрын
Inside box is 10x10 yards. Outside probably 25x25. But you can play with the dimensions depending on your groups age and skill level.

I have u7 spring team going on. With the Belgian box, would you max out at the first set of technical dribbling? 50% of my team has never played soccer, 25% is one season in. 5v5
@CoachRorySoccer Жыл бұрын
Yeah actually in that case I might do a little bit different technical training. U7 is pretty young to do Belgium Box unless you have a high level group. There is a gate setup where you have a single cone at the bottom and a single cone like 30 yards in line with it and then two sets of gates on each side. Two lines at each cone. It’s a little simpler version. Sorry kind of hard to type out vs diagram
@richardshade8999 Жыл бұрын
@@CoachRorySoccer thank you. I think I have it mapped out in my head.

So the mannequins are just there for them do all the same skills while avoiding a defender? In other words, you could do all the skills once, and then include mannequins and do them all over again?
@CoachRorySoccer Жыл бұрын
Mannequins are best for the 1v1 moves because it gives them something to go at. Vs just a blank space. It can help with the other stuff to but not really as needed.
@DinaRuehle-kb1hf Жыл бұрын
What are the min-max numbers you would do this with? I have 15 kids, wondering if I would do one or two boxes?
@CoachRorySoccer Жыл бұрын
You could do one box. Just move the kids through quickly. Like tell the line of four going next once the player in front of them is half way you start etc. Minimum number is probably 8. Max probably 16.
@MattiasHamberg7 ай бұрын
What's the point with the blue cones?
@CoachRorySoccer7 ай бұрын
So the players know what lanes to go in.
@brandongoff7655 Жыл бұрын
How do you add passing into it
@CoachRorySoccer Жыл бұрын
So several ways. If you watch the next video I turn the Belgium box into an up back through passing pattern. But you could easily incorporate passing into the box

What is a V turn?
@CoachRorySoccer Жыл бұрын
Ed ball is on your players left. Takes right foot pulls in back then takes it to the right with inside part of the foot. turning body and making a “v” shape
