I got the Z890M Ice board from Gigabyte and it's great. I would have been tempted by the Asrock mATX board except for the position of its primary pcie slot. It's moved one spacing down for some reason, and I don't think thats good considering how large graphics cards get these days. Seems like the GPU might struggle more for airflow in this position than it should.

I think it depends on the game. Gamers Nexus has added Stellaris to their CPU testing for games, where they time how long it takes a CPU to process a simulation. Now if just the Core Ultra processors were worth buying then we would be more interested in the motherboards. But given the current problems with stability, performance and power draw in addition to the high initial prices they really isn't all that interesting for the gamer or non professional user. If you do 3D design and rendering then they seem perfectly fine, when they get the stability and windows 24H2 compatibility problems fixed. But for gaming they are most probably never going to be the right choice. Well unless you are playing Totalwar: Warhammer as Intel says they have 28% better performance than Core i9 14900K in that particular game. But for the huge majority of games it is more in line with the Core i5 14600K.
