I have gone through a tiresome amount of videos on the topic, to find a comprehensive, detailed, non rambling explanation is almost (to say the least) niche. Which makes me appreciate your content even more, Nonetheless I can spot a respectable amount of hard work done throughout. Thanks alot for the cheat sheets and I sincerely thank you for your quality work, without even asking for any kind of fees. Definitely liked and subbed. And thanks again for helping us with our build journey.

Dual GPU for better Rendering in Gaming (**if that is possible**) but mostly for work applications like Adobe Premiere Pro, Blender, Unreal Engine 5, etc. 3. nice vid but the cheat sheet for motherboard sizes isnt fully accurate since E-ATX motherboards dont really have a defined size and it varies from brand to brand, i have an E-ATX motherboard from asus that is the exact same size as a regular atx motherboard just with a few extra expansion slots
@ThePcOutlier2 ай бұрын
Glad you liked the video! and you're right, these are just typical sizes. The height is almost the same for E-ATX and ATX, the difference is essentially more expansion slots for the E-ATX which makes it generally more squarish and just a bit on the larger side in most cases

Any reason the asus crosshair hero x570 viii wifi as am4 and the x670e crosshair hero am5 boards are not on the high end list?
@ThePcOutlier2 ай бұрын
both of these are definitely high-end and solid options, it's just that the Crosshair series is generally more pricier for what it offers so it can end up being an overkill for most. Also, if you look at the ROG Strix boards in this range, you'll find much better options at better prices

@matthewcalifana488 from what I've seen, which isn't much, the new chips are VERY focused on less power consumption and are likely to be about the same, and in some cases, less powerful, or slower, than their predecessors. This was actually confirmed by Intels own advertisements/ stats.

Btw another thing that's more or less important in motherboards is PCB. From what I understand, generally an 8-layer PCB is recommended, because more PCB layers offer better connectivity, stability and signal integrity. Which rules out the MSI X670E Tomahawk you've mentioned a few times throughout the video, because it's only got 6 layers of PCB Source: am choosing a motherboard for a workstation right now, was going to buy the X670E Tomahawk one, and dropped it once I realized it's got a 6-layer PCB (and there are reports of stability issues with it), and there are better options from ASRock for a similar price - there is a trade-off in the shape of the outdated Realtek ALC897 codec, but I'm planning on buying a separate sound card anyway
@ThePcOutlier2 ай бұрын
Great info! thank you for highlighting this. I've updated it, the Asrock x670e taichi is defo a better alternative but a bit more expensive tho
@OlegWoronin2 ай бұрын
@@ThePcOutlier good one, it even has a post code display instead of simple LED indicators! But IIRC it has double x16 PCIe slot supporting x8+x8 mode, and no other PCIe slots, which means plugging even something as simple as an x1 network card will limit the GPU to x8 - which may still be good for most GPUs in a PCIe 5.0 slot, but still something to keep in mind (especially with the upcoming generations of GPUs likely requiring PCIe 5.0 to run at full capacity)

Great video straight to the point but i noticed you didn't talk about the amd b550 or b450 motherboards. would have been interesting to know.
@ThePcOutlierКүн бұрын
Thanks! b550 is still a great option in 2025 for budget builds. The difference is essentially pcie 3.0 and 4.0 but honestly I wouldn’t recommend going below b550 in 2025 since motherboards in this range are already very affordable plus pcie 3.0 on b450 can be limiting for todays builds.

Your board is a 4 dimmer and pcb is only a 6 layer so not great for memory oc. The vrm isn't great. Hardly anything for a heat sync and the boards power delivery is probably not good from an ocing stand point. It'll power your chip that's probably it.

Not really helping, might as well go watch a specific video on the board you want for the CPU you want. I just recently watched a video where they tested every B650 AM5 card, and some run so hot it would cause CPU throttling.

@@ThePcOutlier Yes, of course i have reasons. It's not really about the content i guess, but the AI voice is just bad and showing a picture from same guy again and again doesn't make it any better. Guess it would be much more watchable without these elements. But well, it might be useful for those who actually have minimal knowledge about what mainboards are doing. Personally i was more looking or hoping for a guide about the latest boards and their pros and cons and eventually some recommendations, tbh, i guess it would be more helpfull in the end. The title sounds much like that, maybe another name would be more suitable. Another point might be that the voice is quite fast and there is more talking than needed, I'd recommend to try to cut it down to a more essential information, i mean it's a guide for people quite new to PC building and i guess it could be easily overwhelming to a lot of them. Well, the overall radiation is quite cold all in all. But you clearly put in some work and the information overall is useful too. So, its just the presentation, that i think lacks a lot of charisma and some simplicity as well.
