When Sony released the 20-70mm f4 lens, I questioned that move. After using it for some time, I can see why it is such a great lens. Not GM priced, compact, light, close focusing and excellent image quality, it is a good zoom to have. If I need more range, I slip on my 70-200mm f4 Sony zoom with internal zooming. As may have said, that extra wide angle range of the 20-70 makes it more valuable.

I bought the new 70-200 f4 Macro to compliment the 20-70. It's a great go anywhere kit that gives excellent results.

Nice! I still don't know which one is right for me but very informative. Maybe that's why I have so many of these lenses as well. I've never been sorry just buying a Sony lens though.

Was thinking of buying a Sony a6400. What lens do you recommend? Thinking between sigma 18-50 mm or Tamron 17-70mm. The Tamron is quite more then the sigma so not sure

I'd highly recommend saving up for the 6700 if possible - it's a much more capable hybrid camera. If you are shooting stills only, the 6400 is adequate, but for video the 6700 is a HUGE leap forward. The Sigma 18-50 is my most used APS-C lens of all time! It's so small and light - it goes everywhere with me mounted on the FX30. The Tamron is quite a bit bigger and heavier and I don't find the tradeoff for more range worth it. Good luck!

I had the 28-200 and 20-70 and sold both. I really miss the 28-200 and regret selling it. I'm going to end up buying it again.

24-70 was my first zoom lens and to be honest it was a little expensive at first

The 24-70 is such a useful range. It's not surprise that it's the best selling lens across all brands. They are absolutely worth the higher price.
