My top 3 - 1. Esee Izula - Two blade options 1095 = 55 USD to about 75 USD and S35v - around 80-100 USD (I carry this one more so than any other knife in the S35v version) Designed and made in America, no questions asked lifetime warranty. A lot of aftermarket support for scales and sheaths. I prefer RK Custom Sheaths and Armatus Carry. 2. Mora Eldris - Fantastic functional knife for around 25 USD on sale to about 40 USD . Every thing from Bushcraft to EDC, pocketable, belt carry, neck whatever. 3. Esee 3 - Honestly I often EDC belt carry larger knives and the 3 is probably the largest knife you can get away with pocket carry but typically its best carried on the belt. Again both 1095 and S35v options are great depending on your budget and preferences. Again huge aftermarket support and no questions asked warranty.

@John5.566 ай бұрын
@@JAB671 I feel you, I still watch them for the most part when I have downtime because I’m a nerd I suppose. But I like to hear different peoples opinions on said topics. As far as knives go Taylor’s taste is a lot more expensive than mine, I’m not knocking him or his videos but I’m just looking for a quality tool. It doesn’t have to have the latest greatest super steel or keep up with the joneses so to speak. Maybe one of these days I’ll splurge on a $200+ pocket knife, but that day surely won’t be soon lol. I also understand that what a dude who reviews knives and gear on social media is going to be carrying/reviewing alot of the times isn’t going to make sense for me because I just need a tool I’m not making anything from reviewing it etc. With all that having been said I’d suggest watching the “budget” episodes Taylor does, as well as knife center and bode hq. There are 100% solid quality knives for less than $135. Don’t be discouraged.
@JAB6716 ай бұрын
@@John5.56 Oh, I watch lots of knife videos. I just have different tastes. I have spent around $150 on Esee knives (a five and a six with the contoured G10 scales) but that is just about my upper limit and only for a bigger slab of steel. Other people have different wants/tastes/needs and I like almost all knives but small knives just aren't my 'thing' to the point I want to spend a lot on them. For smaller, fixed blade knives my picks are: 1. The CRKT Minimalist series (around twenty bucks each). My favorite of those is the Katana which costs more than the others but has a much bigger blade. 2. The Cold Steel Mini-Tac series. I have the skinner (upswept blade similar to a Schrade Sharpfinger) and the Beaver Tail (broad leaf type blade - CS stopped making that one years ago). 3. The Cold Steel Spike series. I only have one of those - the one that is just called 'The Spike'. 4. And for a slightly more expensive one, the KaBar/Becker EsKabar. I have a few, other small fixed blades but those are the 'core' of that part of my collection. As for a $200 pocket knife there is exactly one folder that I will probably, eventually lay out that kind of cash to purchase. It isn't a Benchmade, a Chris Reeves, etc. it is a Buck. Specifically a Buck 110 from their custom shop. It will have nickel bolsters, stag grips, an upgraded steel and possibly a drop point blade instead of a clip point. I have a semi-custom from a batch that was sold on Amazon that has light Walnut scales and a D2, drop point blade that didn't really cost any more than the standard version. I like the drop point blade in that 110. Anyhow, the one with stag handles, etc. is a folder I will splurge on one of these days. Kind of like some folks have a barbecue gun that will be my barbecue knife - and I might get some stag inserts for my Ruger SP101 to match!

Hey Guys, Trevin from Roac! - Another incredible lineup, Taylor. It's always fun to see the current state of your Guardian 3 sheath, the patina is *chef's kiss* and the bruised denim hue just kicks it up a notch. Thanks for including us in your rundown of these models, going to have to hit to the design board on a couple of them! If I had to add more to the list, I'd say the L.T Wright Patriot & Maverick Colt deserve a look. I stayed away from the Patriot for too long because of no lanyard hole and the knobby end of the handle, but once I pulled the trigger and got it in hand I was sold. Super comfy, great little cutter, and very pocketable. I've been testing out a micro Bushcraft/Survival style pocket clip sheath setup for it, with a few purposeful bells and whistles, and will be making it available shortly. Another MUCH BIGGER run of Guardian 3 sheaths will be available soon. I've been working on a new design since last September and will be launching it very soon!

Setup for scout carry, and all for $60 Canadian.

Looked at them for years, didn’t have a lot of money but wanted a small fixed blade for neck carry so finally broke down and bought a CRKT SPEW for 25 bucks. What a handy little fixed blade; it’s light, the kidex sheath has good retention. The blade can’t be beat for piercing tasks and it handles most edc tasks I run into on a day to day basis. For some of us, over a hundred dollars is expensive so this is a cheap option. Only negative I have is that it is made in China.

If you want a great pocket carry EDC blade check out the Creely Mako. I wasn't into pocket carry fixed at the time, always went with appendix carry. When I got the Mako in magnacut I had a kydex appendix sheath made. After a month or so I had to dress up a bit and decided to try the pocket sheath. I've been using it ever since. The blade is one of the best I've ever used, been a knife guy since I earned my first cub scout folder in 1971and this blade has made it through a year of daily use on a small ranch with only 2 strops. It's so light that you don't even notice that it's there bit it is so easily accessible, especially in jeans or overalls. The handle looks a bid weird but melts into your hand. Might be a bit narrow if you have extra large hands though, good for medium-large hands. The sheath changed the way I use knives with it's deep carry uniclip. Worth a look.

I disagree. A clip makes a big difference to me. I like the pocket clip on my 940 Osborne . I've carried that knife for years. Recently I started toting a crooked river and my biggest gripe is the pocket clip.

Bekker Necker, a part of the BK line is an excellent EDC fixed blade, it does require a simple modification to the sheath.

favorite fixed blade is a chert flint knife with deer femur handle. it's the knife I carry in my pocket if I'm going to be somewhere it's not illegal for me to carry a knife but the proprietors put up metal detectors anyway. you should do a video on the tactical fixed blade Walmart paring knives :D

I have been carrying the Petes Pirate Life Skelly and II leather wrapped the handle. AMAZING knife but I am also hunting for sheath options and might have to reach out to Oak City for something. I also have the Guardian 3 and love that knife too but again the sheath is an issue. I usually carry a folder in pocket and fixed on the belt (cross carry), so I am looking for slim cross carry options too. Great video Taylor, thanks for the great content!

Bradford Guardian 3 is my favorite fixed blade. Easily. Just use original sheath. No problems.

I've been looking for a good edc fixed blade and passed on so many because of sheaths being bad. You are spot on with the sheaths being just as important. Why would I put a small fixed on my hip when I could put a larger knife on my hip. And most of them have bulky hip only sheaths
