Brilliant! I like the idea of scavenging stuff from old knives and multi-tools and then simply adding them to the Keybar. If they don't fit properly a guy can easily modify them and make them fit. Thanks for the video and you have a new subscriber.

The great thing about keybar systems, like this, is that you can tailor them to your needs: bladeless option for travel, blade option for daily or outdoors, etc. Users need to understand that the purpose of these is system is not practicality, it's convenience and weight-saving.

Freaking love this idea I can build my dream EDC multi tool with out having 3 knives and a saw in it and put what I want in it and not a bunch of useless things that I will never need or would prefer a larger variant of (I just wish to belt cutter from klecker had a oxygen wrench and window break tool)
@derpyderp6719 Жыл бұрын
There is a product specifically made to do exactly this. Except much, much cheaper. It may not look the purtiest, and doesn't have two sides to put tools on, but it's called the Keyport Pivot. It not only has its own proprietary tools, but it's own proprietary quick switch "scales" with functional ones like a flashlight, and pocketclip. You can, of course, buy other brands of tools made for things like it, or slim tools with similar sized holes.
@lancewatson2839 Жыл бұрын
I love this concept! I have a couple of SAK’s and the Leatherman t4 but I really just want a knife, scissors, inline Phillips and flat head with possibly a package opener. I can build a Keysmart multitool with all of that and it will be fairly slim with a deep carry clip

Love the idea. Modularity allows for a ton of creativity and practicality. Ive been drilling Leatherman tools to fit in my QuietCarry Q2 keybar and love it, but it's a chore to drill and fit. Your's seems to fit the bill in a a more consumer-friendly package. Keep it up

I've been debating between the quietcarry, or a keybar. The quietcarry looks a lot smaller but I love the functionality of the keybar.
@watchncarry95935 жыл бұрын
@@Andrew-it7fb ive used both, and have also used the keysmart. I prefer the quietcarry. All 3 of them are quality made, but the quiet carry has a blocky shape which i prefer, since this covers your keys and tools better than the shape of the Keybar or Keysmart. Quietcarry has limited tool options you can add to it, but it isnt too difficult to buy a used Leatherman Micra on ebay, disassemble it, and install those tools onto the Quietcarry (the holes on Leatherman tools fit perfectly into the posts of the quietcarry).
@Andrew-it7fb5 жыл бұрын
@@watchncarry9593 yeah, covering the keys and tools better is one of the reasons I was considering the Q2. I have to wear dress pants for work and I was worried about them getting damaged from tools in the keybar.

Those scales and clip are very well done! A bit too brickyard in thickness for me though. I've never been much of a multi tool user- too many times slipping off a screwhead and closing the tool on a finger with the torque you need to apply to the tiny tool. I work with full sized hand tools in a leather belt pouch for my trade and use those. I carry a pimped out ZT 560 and keep nail clippers and a proper nail file in the truck.😃 Diggin your channel Taylor. Enjoyed the pen upgrade video very much. I'm anodizing ti now and learning a bunch. Been a full tang maker for close to 30 years and appreciate the stuff you bring to the table.

For cheaper option, a pair of Chicago screws is $1.20 or less, a few cents in washers and a small piece of what ever material you want for the scales and you can make your own, then just paying for attachments. If you can drill a hole and maybe use a small saw and sand paper, you can save yourself $50+ in a few short minutes.
@ryanlavallee63425 жыл бұрын
I actually just backed the swissqlip on indiegogo and cant wait for that. it uses the keychain hole to attach so on and off whenever you want plus does not block the toothpick and tweezers option. they also just updated to a deep carry design as well. personally I have a fieldmaster with g10 scales that I will be adding the matte black clip to and it will be perfect to carry

@BestDamnEDC5 жыл бұрын
Yep! Some of the KeySmart tools won't fit the KeyBar, since it's shorter. But KeyBar tools should fit a KeySmart. They'll just hang out of the sides of the scales a bit more than they would on a KeyBar.

@@BestDamnEDC I was just about to ask this same question. I always wondered if the KeyBar tools would work on a KeySmart as I just got a Pro about a month ago. This isn't really new. My issue is the keybar is way bigger and more expensive than a SAK. And depending on your base keybar and tools you're not too far off from a custom SAK that can probably fit more tools in a thinner space for the same price. There's guys out there still.
