Man I’m never joining the mafia, imagine you’ve demonstrated to the police you’re not going to talk, everyone close to you knows your character and knows you won’t talk…but the guys you’ve been loyal to your whole life decide you gotta die just incase. F that.
@perpetualmotion3575 ай бұрын
Yeah, that is BS and it happened a lot. I doubt they mention that in the ceremony of getting made that even though you've been loyal, you're going to probably get whacked just in case. Just the paranoia and stress doesn't seem worth it. Too many nutcases get made, and now you are forced to associate with fellow members even if you don't like or trust them. It's not an organic circle of friends you make in a regular society. Being stuck in the company of a guy like Roy Demeo would suck. Loyalty gets thrown out the window when money is involved. Money is their god.

Tim Sizemore (RIP) plays a very good John Gotti. He was not as good as Armand Assante was, but he did a very good job. There are several scenes with Bilotti in it, and he has dialogue with Paul.

Here's a story: my grandad had 4 brothers and 2 sisters. One sister and brother died on boat coming from Naples to Croatia. After establishing there my grandad and one of his brothers went to the States to work. Being Napolitan' and sort of close to lifestyle he met Roy Demeo. Roy would regularly call him up to play darts or go bowling. As my grandad took bowling ball he sees that his hand is red as in from blood. He then took a look at Roy and he had partially bloody hands. When asked Roy said "I was painting at home didn't have time to clean up" but my grandad knew smell of blood. He said Roy gave him one of most disgusting smiles while proceeding with his alibi. Not because he's my grandad but my grandad was tough as nail and old school as they come. But since then, he told me - he never met with Roy anymore and he went to work towards west coast.

How does a street-hustling guy from Brooklyn's Flatlands gets to the top of one of Manhattan's banks?? The connections - the REACH these people had back then were unbelievable. He basically "emptied" the whole bank's capital and made it in such a way, that no one even dared to snitch on him - I'm guessing they had ALL their "fingers in the pie", so nobody could recognize him (couldn't or WOULDN'T given they would be basically pointing their fingers at themselves, too!) ...and then he simply walked away! ...like it was nothing!?... PS. By that time he didn't even develop his "reputation" yet... He probably simply "slipped right through" the fingers, right under the Feds "ever-watching eye", even the ones of the most efficient and ruthless Fed-agency - not the FBI, nor ATF or DEA ...but the IRS! 😄 ...the biggest gangsters around!...

The people aren't right in the head there, thanks to their culture who is militant and discourages any kind of independent thinking, especially today, so this society produces extremists, you never see anyone balanced, a healthy mind, and they appear to be completely ignorant of it. It's why there's so many serial killers and truly twisted individuals with countless people cheering them on. He's basically a poster child of the culture in a different era. The title 'Greatest Mafia Boss' says it all. Year's ago, I saw a documentary type show where the reporter followed around a thief as he was committing both burglarie's and car theft's. He was plying his trade right there in Canarsie, and he was very good at it. Mainly with his burglarie's. On one job, he showed how he would get into a building, and with the proper tool's, he'd show how he got into these safe's. He'd take a diamond, carbide blade and cut a hole into the side's of these safe's and make a hole big enough to reach his hand into them and remove whatever valuable's were inside of them. What wound up happening was, he wasn't kicking up to the local shot-caller's. And on top of that, he supposedly hit a Russian mob-controlled strip joint. He'd told the reporter he was going to do the job, and soon after, he disappeared. The reporter never heard from him again, and the Russian's never reported it to the police, either. The implication was, either it was the Russian owner's of the strip joint. Or, the local mobster's, whom he was disrespecting for a long time by taking down score's and not kicking up. I wish I could find that show again because I believe that maybe I could've figured out who these gangster's were that controlled that area at the time. It would've been very easy to do...

INSIDE MAN is one, and GEMINI LOUNGE is another. Both came out in 2023. I haven't seen them yet. Also, the film, ICEMAN, has scenes with DeMeo character but more with Nino Gaggi.

I've been wanting to see a movie about DeMeo forever. I have never seen one and i can't understand why thi guy isn't more popular than people like Gotti with all the people him and his crew killed and how brutal he was. The most popular mobsters that we know of were all afraid of this guy.

I grew up with Roy. Roy was a friend of ours. Roy did a lot of work. But Katz broke da rules. He had to go. Roy usually worked clean. Katz work was sloppy. Roy got there late. But Roy took pride in his craft, not like the mulyons today. And he loved a good sausage pie well done extra cheese from DeFaro's afterwards.
