When that guy's daughter described being touched by seeing the conditions her father works in and how he never complains, never even mentions it out of modesty, a beautiful moment, and for all the hardships, their families seem much healthier than what we see in the West now that society has gotten so hyper materialistic and consumerist that family relations are become transactional.

@@comfusedWorldpassanger3399 Hey, my bad. I guess I missed the quotation marks in "old man". I was responding in the context of age in stead of length of time. If I read it that way, then 3 decades is indeed a long time, and for such a job it is quite daunting. As for being a teenager, I so wish I was but I'm not. If I were, I'd definitely do so many things different like use my money to travel the world instead of hoping into the rat race of life.

Even 1rst world countries are fucked when it comes to jobs and opportunities. I am Salvadorian, my ex girlfriend is Indonesian. She was 11 when she migrated to the US. We met in high school and she told me all about the tough life she and her family had to go through before coming to the US. Le doy gracias al universo por lo poco que tengo y si pudiera, yo ayudaria but even in rich countries like the US, life is tough. It's nothing like the volcano people but it gets tough and I know that anybody in the US gets my point. If only we were all equal countries where work was just an option not a must to survive. What the fuck do we work so hard for ? We work our asses off but in the end we don't live long enough. There's a lot of crazy shit going on man.

Together, all the man can build a rope transporter assembly from top to bottom. Just need some small hand pulley tackle, long rope or wire rope guide and a metal hook or simple basket to transport the goods. It's a simple operation like a rotating cycle chain, when the load slides downwards and the other end transit towards up hill. This method shall allow those man to spend less time inhaling the dust and smoke and conserve on their energy and health and increase their efficiency.

it does not falll on Elon Musk it all falls on Indonesia's government no employment contracts for those getting government permits like miners on a volcano - no saftey regs that are enforced - no minimum wage - no social welfare - no free education for children in other words its a fucked up place and yet it is very rich the government not the people

I was down there in the volcano 4 years ago. It's crazy how the locals carry the sulfur up there with rubber boots. I lifted the boxes briefly, I would never have made it up with them.

Kudos to the reporting team especially the guy holding the camera. Must be wearing a very advanced gas mask. These people's stories need to be told. Now can we please send them at least a 1 year supply of gas masks.
