The Manikin is a 2006 short film which was shot at West Edmonton Mall. The film highlights many classic WEM destinations, like the Deep Sea Adventure Submarine Ride, Professor WEM's Miniature Golf, the West Mall 8 Cinemas, and Circuit Circus!
This review will touch on all the great places that are shown, and share my thoughts on the film itself! I think it's a fun little film!

I worked on this as well. Credited as 1st AD, but I ended up doing more producer-type duties. Spent the entire shoot putting out fires (sometimes literally when we set that restaurant on-fire). Shooting in WEM was a logistical nightmare. I worked on Christmas in Wonderland as well. Sometimes I wake in the middle of the night screaming. There's a ten-minute making-of video on KZbin (search Manikin behind the scenes) with more footage of the mall from that period. I'd be happy to answer any questions about filming in the mall!

Adam Gregory filmed a music video here as well you should do a video about that. He did a signing in front of HMV. Their were all these screaming girls trying to give him their bras, panties and flowers. Me and my brother just waited patiently for an autograph. He got his security to pull us inside the barriers and talked with us for like 15min and gave us a whole bunch of swag. I tell you i felt like a king in that moment. We literally thought we were going to get killed afterwards lol but we got away. I still have my signed cd in a box in the basement.

2006 might as well have been goddamn _yesterday_ as far as I'm concerned. I still vividly remember my family moving to our new home (which was technically our "old" home, just three years after we'd previously lived there for a year), the basement being renovated into a bedroom and washroom for yours truly, and me listening to old Queen songs on our computer after school. I was 13 then; I'm turning 31 in June.

A lot of great spots seen in this short film. I had come to WEM for the first time since 1985 around the time this would have been filmed. The mall had retained so much of its character in those years.

I was the kid on the scooter whom mr viggs gives me a bunch of coins for. We filmed while the mall was closed. This brings back memories
