I live in Canada and lived in the USSR for 48 years and always missed the natural taste of vegetables of Bangladesh, which I ate in the 60s and 70s and 2 years in the 80s. Cabbage, Cauliflower, and Eggplant for example in Europe and North America are almost tasteless and have no flavor, but you can eat raw cabbage or cauliflower in Bangladesh that has grown on soil without fertilizer is so tasty when you cook it with simple spices, but now it has changed, and the use of fertilizer and other pest control poisons. Vegetables are mostly cooked with Cumin, for color Turmeric powder or paste from the fresh one, ginger, and mustard seeds battered on stone with some bay leaves and sometimes added Cilantro(no Garam Massalla even). Onion and garlic must be in any dish. Bangladeshi consume so much onion that has to import mostly from India and other countries(10-20% imports). Bangladesh can grow enough onions, but in rainy season or other time difficult to preserve them. Imports In 2022, Bangladesh imported $181M in Onions, becoming the 11th largest importer of Onions in the world. In the same year, Onions was the 93rd most imported product in Bangladesh. Bangladesh imports Onions primarily from: India ($145M), China ($31.2M), Turkey ($4.08M), Burma ($1.15M), and New Zealand ($43.1k).

Some people think that Indian and Bangladeshi cuisines are same..but both have different styles of cooking and ofcourse both are tasty. Indians tend to use a large number of spice in every dish. Like they put 6 or 7 types of spice in a single 2min magi. But in Bangladesh, they never use many spices in regular food..if u watch the fish curry in this video they used just 5 basic ingredients for the cooking..Despite using fewer spices,Bangladeshi foods can still be rich and light at the same time, completely different taste from Indian foods.

The reason most Indian cuisine gets a lot of recognition, well I’m speaking for Britain, is because of all the restaurants across the country which are actually Bangladeshi. And the reason for that is when the Bangladeshi people started coming abroad and establishing in the culinary business at that time the whole country including Pakistan was known as India, then later came Pakistan then later came Bangladesh and I am speaking about independence. And the reason almost 95% of the Bangladeshi restaurants are called Indian was because for those time if they named them Bangladeshi the British people didn’t recognise it so they wouldn’t have known what these restaurants are and what type of food they make. So naming them Indian allowed them to bring western customers. But don’t get it mistaken they’re actually Bangladeshi. So next time you’re in London or somehwere on Britain and you go into an Indian restaurant known that you’re actually in a Bangladeshi restaurant

I came to read comments about how people love bangladeshi food but here everyone is fighting about India nd Bangladesh…. Ok as a Bangladeshi I just wanna say 1 thing to Indians that look if u can’t respect other country don’t disrespect atleast if we like something about ur country we appreciate it openly but u always look us like so bad nd yes everyone know the history of this three country so it’s a independent country now nd obviously the cuisines r almost same but different cooking style ndflavours ….. nd yes I went to India 3 times I thing is sure Bangladeshi people love nd eat more spicy food than others only BD Muslims other religions eat a little sweet food ❤️

I'm a Bangladeshi, and I just love Pangas fish, Ilish Fish, Shrimp ,,,, Panta Ilish is our traditional food item, the new year of Bangla calendar called ''Pohela Boishak'' is incomplete without it,,, Although that beef item isn't more popular here,,, in Bangladesh mutton kacchi biriyani is more popular.. However Pangas is very controversial fish in Bangladesh,,, Many people love this fish as well many people hated this fish a lot,,,
@Muslim_of_Bangladesh8 ай бұрын
Beef items are also so much popular, But I think you are not Muslim and you have not tried it that's why you are saying that. I don't wanna hurt your feelings, but its true that beef is an integral part of Bangladeshi (Not West Bengal) cuisine. You can't disagree that !! but ya its true that Mutton is more popular than beef across the whole sub-continent.

The chicken chup that you have shown is not traditional because in traditional chicken chup we dont use tomatoes or bell pepper nither we grill the chicken. To get the authentic flavour please visit Nazira bazar old dhaka. Instead of pangash fish , rui and katol fish is more popular in street level food, pabda fish is more famous but bit expensive then pangash fish. Beef hundi the name has been introduced only few years ago in dhaka its basically beef curry cooked in clay pot over wood fire in villages is the more authentic one. Only chingry malai curry and Elish fish is more authentic then any other over here in this vedio. Our food is way better then any Indian food sorry but i know because I have been to india in several states, their food is good but ours is better.
