Your Mom no, attack on Titan is serious and a times could really use something to break up the monotony of the seriousness. His school if the dead understands that is you go too serious you can run the vine too. And with only a set amount of episodes to show everything that it wants it doesn't have the great amount of time to make a well thought out and deep way for the seriousness to ease. It's in it's outrageousness that it break the problem of being too heavy with no reprieve. Which is one of the things that turned me off attack on Titan.

He didnt, back then many years ago when he was still relative "healthy" He pretty much suggested that he was like Nagaru Tanigawa (Suzumiya Haruhi writer) where shit grow way to big for him and pretty much decided to gave up on ever finish it .... I was also hopping that he went like Kawashima Tadashi that he literally wrote the final arc/episodes of his ironically named (and also relative gory) Alive: The Final Evolution in his deathbed before dying, It honestly bothers me that people shit on the whole thing (yeah It wasnt outright perfect) but the ending of a manga that literally deals with stuff like death and the "big picture" gets the viewpoint from someone literally dying should be noted ... sad that his very same sickness get the anime cancelled because of the uncertainty, at least when his artist Adachi Toka went make her own stuff and it got that anime adaptation (Noragami, another manga dealing with death,uh?)

Sucks that they decided to green light that shitty ecchi hitman show and not finish HOTD....
@SiMeGamer7 жыл бұрын
Enzo Matrix I mean, the artist needed money probably. The reason they went on hiatus in the first place is because Japan had an earthquake and the author didn't want to continue the series until things calmed down. There were a lot of deaths and sht so continuing a series about a ton of death which is both fun and tragic felt to him kinda disrespectful. I can't blame anyone. It's just an unfortunate set of circumstances :/

Rebel Pixels not really. In fact smart utilitarians would argue with the abundance of media compared to the amount of viewing time an individual has, more media seeing to increase enjoyment they can give to a narrow audience is a better model for making people happy than every show shooting for mass appeal. Dumb utilitarians are a different matter though, and regurally come to some spectacularly bad conclusions due to not being able to take in enough of the big picture.

While I don't think that Highschool of the Dead is a good show, I do have to say that I loved watching it. Yeah, what plot existed was horribly structured, and the characters, albeit not annoying, were very tropey. But personally, I think the show makes it very clear that it's mainly supposed to be a fun trashy romp through a sea of gore and fanservice. There are other things to comment on, but the focus really is all the flashy stuff, and honestly, I don't see anything wrong about that. I wouldn't call it a masterpiece, but sometimes, for some of us at least, we just have the base desire to watch something exciting and flashy and gory and sexy. At least the show didn't pretend to have deep and complex themes; it embraced what it was and did it well.

@DeadPig3257 жыл бұрын
I'm just going to say it. The author had PLENTY of time to finish it, there's no need to be sad. Creators like Kentaro Miura (Berserk) really need to go the Togashi (HxH, YuYuH guy) and ONE (OPM, MobPsycho guy) route and publish less detailed art to finish their fucking stories before some bullshit comes along and ends them. Look how much good Nate has done in 27 MIAMAFV videos! He would have spent upwards of 3 months making this video into one of his Best Anime Ever series! *HE ACCOMPLISHED THE SAME IN* 8 OR 10 *HOURS OF WORK.*
@night19527 жыл бұрын
The problem this manga had is that it didn't have ONE author, they were Daisuke and Shouji Satou, two brothers, and they had some personal problems and stopped working together, and now, Daisuke, the writer, has died, so yeah, there's reason to be sad. And no, the reason Miura didn't do barely any Berserk in the last few years had nothing to do with his art being too time consuming due to quality, he was just tired of doing it and now that he's back on it, he's doing steady work and with his usual quality. ONE's art is as good as he can do, he didn't choose to do low quality stuff so he can do more faster. HxH is a terrible example too, since he's currently on hiatus and he has apologized for making low quality stuff. Lowering art quality to make more shit is the worse idea i've ever heard.
@DeadPig3257 жыл бұрын
You got me on my HxH example, I forgot that the lower effort art didn't fix the hiatus problem, that the art has been as bad as it is for the past 8 or so years. Didn't know about the HSotD authors, the reasons behind its massive delay are fucked to say the least. Miura has finally returned to us and I'm glad about that, he's the only guy out of the people I mentioned that actually could tone down the detail to publish more, though I'm sure that Berserk's quality comes from the art as well as the time Miura has to cook up ideas, as he has a monthly publication. What you said about ONE is also true. All in all, you've defeated me at this internet discussion. Well done.

But BestGuyEver, you helped me see this show in a different light, and I thank you for that. The only downside to all this, is that we're probably not going to get a continuation of HOTD, since the manga creator Daisuke Sato passed away this year. It was just a show that would be enjoyed and it knows its audience very well.

I think one of the best forms of fan service in HotD was with Rei and the rest getting drunk, because that works within the narrative. Same with the moment where main character dude and Saeko end up together and almost end up sleeping together after a life or death fight. But there is a lot of fan service that breaks me out of the narrative in HotD; on the other hand, it's a popcorn flick, and I enjoy it on the surface just like I do Underworld or Resident Evil movies. They're dumb fun, but if you choose to look below the surface, you can find some pretty cool, interesting ideas.

1:35 Actually, I've seen a lot of people defending absurd boobs physic in video games saying "But that's how boobs move IRL". So, sometimes it feels important to remind people who haven't seen a lot of girls in real life that what they're watching is fiction.
@GeteMachine6 жыл бұрын
That surprises me to hear that people actually defend that scene outside of it being just ridiculous. The truth is, Japanese animators are the ones who do not know how breast physics actually work. Never did. Even that scene just went above what I could rationalize. Its like the girls are only wearing bras when they actually show them. Not to mention how painful all of that is, and the only thing Rei walked away with was a sore back?

the thing about High School of the Dead aside from other zombie apocalypse shows is that unlike many zombie apocalypse shows where the protagonist gets knocked out for a while and come back to no one being alive anymore. But the thing about high school of the dead is that we see the police and how everyone trying to survive and the police trying to keep everything under control. Everyone's huddled together, people are yelling for help etc. High School of the Dead is one of the better zombie apocalypse shows out there tbh
