But then Mr Rogers Grounds me to MY True Hopes, Dreams, and Intentions of the Human I Hope that I/We Can All Be... IF We Focus our Attention to How WE Would Want to Be... Remembered... The Kindness, Truthfulness, and Necessity... of Our Words are Invaluable. I am Absolutely Terrified of the Pain... But at this point what Option Do I TRULY Have Left? Other than to face the Reckoning of My/Our Own life Choices... As well as the Choices I/We made... "When all You Were Taught was how to Shoot Somebody who Outdrew Ya' "... Jennifer C ...And yet, in so many ways, he already was. No matter what the children viewing his program had going on in their lives, they knew that they could turn to him for love, support, and gentle talk of tough topics that many "grown-ups" have always been afraid to address at all. They could watch him talking with other children -- children just like them -- and know that they're not alone. And that, so importantly, what they feel is actually normal. We could watch his program feeling safe in his wisdom and song, and could trust that he was honest, loving, and truly genuine, without judgment or shame (just the opposite)... even if, for too many children, he was the only one in their world who was. Not a warrior, not a king, not a rock star. These are not great! Fred Rogers was a great man, truly the epitome of "heart and soul", love and empathy and understanding. Humanity lost a piece of its soul when Fred Rogers passed away. But his memory remains, and I hope it continues until we as a species are long gone.

I would replace forgiveness with COMPASSION as it is far more beautiful 🙏🏽 In forgiveness we put ourselves on a higher pedestal by forgiving the other. Besides when we forgive it is consciously and the subconscious retains the hurt we were subjected to. ( the subconscious is 9 times the Concious ) Through COMPASSION we never condemn the person, however his acts are condemned. The act and the actor is not the same.

I only started watching Mr Roger's show recently, and honestly, the first time I heard him say, "There's no person in the whole world like you, and I like you just the way you are," I burst out crying. I'm 31 years old and I've spent most of my life feeling like a walking abortion. Hearing someone say that I was really wanted in this world; that I was likable, has made so much difference to me, even under lockdown. I really think people can learn so much from his emotional intelligence and if it were up to me, everyone in the world would watch his show.

There is nothing embarrassing or unmanly about honestly expressing one's feelings. Sometimes people think that they have to be tough, and there's nothing really wrong with being tough, but you don't have to be tough all the time, only when toughness is called for. If only people were more open about their emotions and didn't try to hide them away, the world would assuredly be a better place.

At 01:06 the Senator’s tone says: “Yup. Here comes another entitled celebrity asshole who’s gonna give me a song and a dance. Go ahead; I’m hardly listening.” At 02:22 his tone says: “This guy isn’t an actor. This is who he really is in real life. He’s actually genuine. I never watched Mr. Rogers when I was a kid, but recently I’ve gone through a very hard time. I realized just how horribly abused and neglected I was as a child. The realization was awful, it was more pain than I could have ever imagined, and this lead to me some of his shows. The first one I watched, Daniel Tiger sang about feeling like a mistake and it felt like all those years finally came crashing down and I just sobbed as I continued to watch, feeling more seen or heard than I have in all 17 years. I feel truly appreciated by this man, despite the fact he’s gone. I feel more love from him than my parents could ever give. Feeling truly loved and appreciated after feeling like a worthless monster, rejected by the two people who are supposed to love you the most is easily one of the purest, most raw emotion I could ever feel. Thank you, Mr. Rogers. I’ll carry this feeling with me forever.

I'm a 55yo Aussie man who never enjoyed the privilege of growing up with Mr Rogers, and yet, after only 30 mins, he has reached my inner child, and I feel loved. And I wept. And wept. With childlike joy. I am reminded by Mr Rogers that I need to pursue silence and wonder, so that this "boy can someday be a man." And in that silence and wonder, be thankful to/for everyone that has helped that boy become a man. Information and noise cannot do that for you. It's good to "Stop. Stop. Stop." I possess deep respect and high regard for his moral authority (which comes from his gentleness and patience), and his selfless spirit. What a giant of a man...

My friends lived in a condo in Delaware just south of PA in the early 80's. We were young, hung over, dead heads in tie dyed t-shirts that smelled like beer and cigarettes and stuff... We knew that Mr. Rogers also lived in the condo. We were going out early one morning to buy some smokes, and then Mr. Rogers got on the elevator and said, "Hi kids. It's a nice day, isn't it?" We looked at each other through our blood shot eyes and all we could say is "Yes, Mr.Rogers!" "Have a nice day." He said. WE WERE BLOWN AWAY! HE NEVER JUDGED US AT ALL! After all those years, reaching all those kids, no matter what color, shape or what, having one of them come back and say to you "It's you I like." must have been among the very highest points of all of Fred Rogers' entire life. We really need Mr Rogers in today’s society. There is just so much negativity and we could really lear from the wonderful man. I don’t understand why there is so much hatred and negative feelings from everyone. I see it at school, where kids fight and throw punches to deal with their anger towards people, how students threaten to bash and beat up other kids. And when kids try to act cool by being tough. I think we need this man now more than ever.

Ritabug34 "The white between the paragraphs." Thinking, feeling, understanding, and patience. Nowadays? Try to have a conversation with someone with ANY white between the paragraphs... if you can even finish one without a mobile phone chirping, TV flashing insecurity-targeted adverts, or even the very person you're talking with being too edgy and brazen to even take in what you've said. Attention spans seem to be shrinking globally. And in spite of all the online shopping and myriad of social media, is it really any wonder that we're more disconnected from each other than ever? I'm not a bitter old person. I'm neither bitter nor old. I think I am, however, a very jaded young person. And that's why I look up videos like this: to remind me that there were, and still are, truly compassionate people on this rock, and that love is real.

@@mookinbabysealfurmittens Agree as well. Fred Rogers rightly feared a society where men reacted rather than thought, where they never slept rather than pondered. Where they never love despite having more accessibility to each other than ever. He saw the storm of the modern day coming long before most of his time - or even those after him - did.

jeeloob I know you're just joking, but I still have to reply with some rhetorical prose. Cos no, he didn't use up all the love; he cultivated it, gingerly and with a pure heart. He grew it like a garden, not for profit but to share it with others, who shared their newfound love with yet others. And it blossomed just like (I optimistically hope) so many of his viewers as they grew up.

See, someone once described the internet as one big "shouting contest", and another described blog rants as "inflicting your opinions upon the world". Remember these when you pass a long, fiery rant, and remember Mr. Roger's message of diplomacy, to at least consider the opinions of others before flatly shooting them down...
