Yeah, that's the thing. He gets so much credit for horror and I think that's really because of the movies, but really, he is just such a prolific writer. Calling him a horror writer is a travesty.

He's a great essayist too, WHY I CHOOSE BATMAN, as a Batman fan it was the best essay about the Dark Knight I ever read, Mr. King writes what people think but remain unrealized even to themselves at times; Salem's Lot was my favorite, best contemporary vampire story ever, scary as hell (as opposed to romantic/erotic or philosophical); wish he'd write more vampire and werewolf stories though, compared to his often H.P. Lovecraft themes.

He calls them The Tribe here....but in the novel they were eventually called the True Knot. I noticed a few changes he made while reading cuz like he said he was not done yet. I loved the book. Rose the Hat was a great villain. I also loved Dan and Abra's bond....the supporting characters were great too like Billy and Doctor John
@necrosunderground

Completely agree. I saw another interview with him where, during the Q&A session, someone commented on how much care and attention he gives to the supporting characters, and for my money, Doctor Sleep is the best example of that. It's an amazing book.

I am speechless. I saw E Musk KZbin. Steve Jobs KZbin. Buddha's wisdom on KZbin regarding a gift. It left me speechless. I was sure that half a fruit as a gift because it contained seeds in barren grounds was the best gift of all. I was wrong. I am speechless since I heard that eating more salt was going to stretch my life. Here I was thinking for a split of a second - that sea-saw moderation. I was wrong. I am speechless.

Why only write horror and gore? King writes science fiction and non fiction too. He wrote a popular article about his son's little league baseball team. He endorses Harry Potter and westerns. He tells people to read everything, because it all helps you to become a better writer.

Stephen King is coming to Wichita KS on 11/14/14. It has been a dream of mine (and on my Bucket List) to see him in person. AND I CAN'T GO!!! You have to have a credit card to buy tickets on-line, and I hate credit cards and will never have one. You can buy them at the store for cash, but I live 70 miles away from Wichita (in Pratt, remember "The Stand"?) and I don't have a car either. I'd already bribed someone I know to give me a ride on 11/14, but he won't take me twice! He wanted $50 to take me just the one time! I'm almost suicidal now... I don't mean to offend, and I'm also a Stephen King fan, since the beginning, when most of us read the back cover to know more about the author. Why do we overexpose everything? Can't we just enjoy the works of an artist without going overboard delving into every aspect of their lives. I don't want to know Stephen King this well. I just liked his books and occasional moves when well done from his books.
