I think that may be an element of it. Guys with more brute strength are more likely to push harder with a heavy blade, cause that probably usually works in their habits. A gal like me that's more about speed and precision's kind of got to feel what the weapon 'wants' to do more, even with mundane balance and momentum, cause there's less 'power' to try to 'steer' things (and your own balance) with, even if that was the best technique for anyone. I wouldn't be shocked if the big guys were finding it's their own reflexes and not just mental state working against them. If that makes sense.

If wielding the Darksaber is about directing a current of power through discipline and acceptance of one's feelings, perhaps Din and Paz have some issues to work through. Din was distracted by his attachment to Grogu and feelings of lacking direction in life, which likely caused him to attempt returning to his comfort zone: his cult. Paz showed his animosity towards Din and obsession with Mandalorian former glory and grudges since he was first introduced, to the point of getting jealous of Din over the Darksaber. Either way, staying with the Children of the Watch wouldn't be a good idea, since a fanatically fundamentalist cult like that doesn't exactly encourage or help in personal change and growth. Considering what would happen later down the line, Mandalorians need to change if they want to rise from the ashes.

There is also the reason why wielding the Darksaber and not your lineage determines who rules Mandalore. A greedy person or someone conflicted emotionally is not capable of wielding it, thus unworthy to rule. And according to ancient law can be easily killed in combat and replaced with someone worthy. As barbaric as that might seem it does explain a lot. And also why Mandalore fell. When lesser people started to rule and make really bad choices.

@@Jacob-xm9hf Perhaps, but the fact that she described finding the Living Water in the mines of Mandalore as Din's only way to atone for an arbitrary sin shows how limited and rigid the Children's teachings are. i believe, in addition to the point made here, Din may have had a perfectly ordinary wish not to maim or kill an ally when he fought the Armourer. if one uses a normal weapon this will not interfere with the training session because a normal weapon does not pick up your emotions and amplify them, The Darksabre does. This may be why when Paz Viszla challenged him, although still 'one of his own'. Din knew that this was a real fight; that Paz would have been happy to kill him. And Din performs a whole lot better in that fight because the Darksabre is lighter for him at that moment; rendering it usable again as a weapon. The BoBF mini-series serves is an extended “interlude” for “The Mandalorian”. This is why it has been promoted as Season 2.5. So, what is an interlude? If you have read some of the recent novels, they include “interlude” chapters, which tell a story about concurrent events elsewhere in the galaxy. The events in the interludes seem disconnected from the main story arc of the novel. The interludes provide back story info, and also tend to establish a timeline between seemingly disconnected story arcs. Din Djarin has always been the main character, make no mistake. This recent chapter serves as an interlude within the BoBF extended interlude.

But interludes have a purpose to the main story. Having us learn about the DarkSabre now, at this point in Boba Fett’s life, means that all these Mandalorian chars AND the DarkSabre will be important, will come together. The 'Rebles' scene actually calls back to when Obi-Wan was training Luke on the Falcon in the first film, if you watch when he is failing it looks like it is really heavy when he gets it right it he seems to handle this more easily. In 'Rebels' it said because of the age of the Darksaber this is magnified somehow.

Has anyone ever noticed that the mandalorian's armor looks exactly like Mandalores armor AKA Canderous from KOTOR & KOTOR2? I think it's too on the nose that this color/design scheme is the exact same and the Mandalorian is on a path to become Mandalore with the darksaber. So basically the darksaber is linked to a certain specific mentality. It's probably harder to use than even a regular lightsaber that one puts together because unlike a Saber where you and the crystal are bonded, the darksaber is seeking specific traits and mental attributes that the user must maintain consistently. (edited for typos)
@lm9682 жыл бұрын
Remember the original owner made that saber based on the old school jedi code of discipline which was strictly upheld and the ancient Mandalorian code of honor. I'm willing to bet the amount of people who can unleash the full potential of that saber can be counted on one hand.
@wolfman72842 жыл бұрын
I guess I'm in the minority here, but I don't like the idea of the saber being unwieldy because of your emotional state, etc. The thing I always seemed to read in "legends" books was that the lightsaber was hard to wield because its blade had no (ZERO) weight, so it was hard for even an experienced swordsman to use unless he trained with it extensively. I like that idea better and it makes more sense to me. You could hurt yourself with a blade like that because you lose track of where the actual blade is due to not being able to "feel" it.

I understand that they're making it different than all other sabers... but that's my point. Making it like a regular saber would be a good opportunity to show how hard it is for a non-Force wielder to use one. Grogu's path and the dark saber meshes pretty well with Grogu being the heir to the saber. You have to be in touch with your thoughts and feelings, which is kind of the opposite of the Jedi but very in tune with Mandalorians. It would make sense why only Tarre Vizsla could truly wield it. This could definitely lead to Grogu becoming the next Mandalorian Jedi.

I freaked out in episode three of The Mandalorian when I heard Pazz Visla speak. I instantly recognized the voice and knew he had to be a Visla. And seeing "Pazz Visla" in the credits confirmed he was indeed decended from Pre Visla. I wonder if we will ever see the Dark Saber attached to Din's jetpack? I remember see Pre do that multiple times so all he had to do was reach over his shoulder to grab the Dark Saber. It made sense that is was made by a Mandalorian jedi since it was designed to stick to a beskar jetpack. And it was good to have confirmation that the Dark Saber hilt is in fact made of beskar as well. I do also think the Dark Saber is a better sign of rulership as "The Mandalore" then an old helmet. With a culture that includes foundings of other races a helmet never worked as a sign of rulership.

There's also something most people forget. Lightsabers, dark saber included, are a natural gyroscope, hence why majority of lightsaber forms focus on spinning and continuous motions
@TriMarkC2 жыл бұрын
You’re gonna have to explain that one. Having had a little training is sword combat, most real saber/swords have a weight that you have to work with. Training gets you to understand that and then how to use it. A lightsaber’s weight is strictly in its hilt - the blade is weightless since made of light. And there are no spinning parts in a lightsaber. So I’m struggling with how a lightsaber is itself or is acting like a gyroscope.
@d3AdLyf32 жыл бұрын
Fun fact lightsabers we're meant to be very heavy, a two handed weapon that a force user would exert some force to wield. It's blade was meant to be thinner than depicted in film, the special effects at the time along with the practicals just couldn't nail a thinner blade. Things changed and lore has changed over time to try and reconcile some of these facts.

a little fan canon I have is that the dark saber isn't actually getting physically heavier, but rather the wielders mind get tricked into thinking the blade is heavy, which is why more focused wielders would be able to basically just go "this isn't heavy" and it isn't heavy anymore (exaggeration)

My biggest take away and "ah.....that's crazy/interesting" was this..."wielding the Darksaber is about directing a current of power through discipline and acceptance of one's feelings"(taken from another person's comment here)". You have to have discipline and control of your emotions to wield the Darksaber effectively. This is why whoever can wield the Darksaber will rule/lead Mandalore. In order to be a good/great leader, you must have discipline and control of your emotions. Lacking in either can lead to a person making poor decisions that don't align with the best interests of the greater good i.e. a lust for power causing you to plunge the clan in to a war resulting in the ultimate demise of all Mandalorians, lashing out in anger or fear of loss leading to bad decisions/actions like Anakin being afraid of losing Padme and stopping Mace Windu from killing Palpatine and turning to the dark side. Having control of your emotions means you won't act without thinking first about the bigger picture (all of Mandalore/all Mandalorians), discpline means you stand by your decision at all costs because the greater good means more than your own selfish wants or desires. At least that's what I took away from it. I think it's pretty awesome. "This is the way..."

Just a thought but... Would this explain why Darth Vader's lightsabre duels in the original trilogy was so clunky... I feel like the end story of Din Jarin will be that he gets betrayed and beaten by the Villain of the story. He will immediately lose the Dark Saber and whoever that is will become the Mandolorian leader (Evil Baddy). By this point Grogu will be trained to wield a lightsaber by Luke. He will revenge Din Jarins loss in front of all the Mandolorians and earn the Dark Saber rightfully making him the New Leader. This signifies his loyalty to Din which represents Mandolorian values. Throughout this process he will be battling the two belief systems of being Loyal and having attachments (Mandolorian) & detaching emotions from everyone (Jedi). This will prove he is more Mandolorian than Jedi and ultimately be the Star Wars GOAT 😂

I feel like the Dark Saber has gotten heavier after the fall of Mandalore. It just doesn't make much sense that Din and Paz Vizla struggled so much to wield it, Paz doesn't seem to have any internal struggles clouding his mind, Maul had a lot going on in his mind I'm sure, but it didn't reject him at all, nor did it reject Pre Vizla (that we know of). Din's reasoning makes sense, and you'd think it would've been heavier for Sabine because of all the weight she was carrying, because her family rejected her. I see some discrepancies here. The Dark Saber must have (somehow) gotten heavier after the destruction of Mandalore, that's the only explanation I could think of. 🤔
@lalxl2 жыл бұрын
It's not only about internal struggles. It's about being focused, clear of questions and irrelevant thoughts. Paz Vizla was so distracted by his imagination of his ancestry and leading Mandalore just because he picked up the blade while the fight was still going on. Maul is a force wielder and has his mind focused while fighting.
@LeonardoDaVinciLulz2 жыл бұрын
Paz obviously has internal struggles over the rule of Mandalore, so I'm not sure what you're talking about there. The saber reacts to your thoughts, so you obviously have to be focused on what you want. And even then, the saber could just do what it wants. I'd think of the saber as a sentiant type of thing.

I also think the explanation also gives more meaning to he blade and it's wielder, as in to use it you literally need to be worthy of being a leader, otherwise its just a black lightsaber which wouldn't really be worthy of the significance the mandalorians place on it.

Some kind of force curse is going on for a plasma blade to get heavy when it’s literally just a handle and magnetically contained plasma. Something else is going on because scientifically there’s no reason for it to magically get heavier. Maybe because it’s such a iconic weapon that’s been around for such a long time (and the only way it can be inherited is by trial by combat) it might’ve build up some kind of force signature because as they say in Star Wars the Force, is a living Force it is alive. Maybe the original creator of the blade the Mandalorian force-user might have embedded some kind of curse.
