If it’s true that Grand Admiral Thrawn is being setup to be the Thanos-like villain in the Favreau-Filoni collaboration, then the threat he presents could provide the motivation necessary for Din to accept the mantle of the Manda’lor and unite the scattered clans and factions.

@Cad Bane Perhaps Ezra may be on Thrawn's side in the Ahsoka series, but only to help him defeat the Grysks. Perhaps Ahsoka and Sabine will mistake Ezra's intentions for joining Thrawn's side and thinking he's been corrupted by Thrawn, but Ezra really knows that the Grysks are the real threat.

@Cad Bane I have read all of the novels and I agree. But I'm speculating based on existing rumors that he will be a Thanos-like villain and that Filoni's version of Thrawn in Rebels was treated quite differently than in Timothy Zahn's novels. I prefer Zahn's version though.

Bo katan also did not receive all the support that she needed from the rest of the clans, not only for accepting the dark saber without having to fight for it, her supremacist ideas were also the causes that not all the clans supported her, she claimed to rule the rest of the Mandalorians because of her family name, also she couldn't accept outsiders, as if she thought that the Mandalorians are a race instead of a culture or creed, the first Mandalorians weren't even human and they accepted the humans to join their culture, I'm not saying that bo katan is the cause of everything, but she did make mistakes that contributed to the almost annihilation of the Mandalorians.

Grogu is technically both of Jedi and Mandalorian... even the hardliners like the Armorer would have a hard time arguing with him if he was to say, come by the Darksaber while saving Mando's life if Visla or the Armorer challenge him for it and are about to strike him down after taking control of it. He's a Mandalorian foundling *and* a force user.... that's all I'm saying.
@AeneasGemini
@AeneasGemini 2 жыл бұрын
Well, the big issue is how you define a Mandalorian. Grogu *was* a foundling, but unless he chooses to live up to the Mandalorian customs (wearing armour and never taking off his helmet etc) then he isn't both. It is kind of mutually exclusive since the Way of the Mandalore and the Jedi code are fairly at odds

Season three will explore the springs below the mines of Mandalore for sure. Din at this point doesn't have much to go off of next apart from what the Armorer had spoken to him about, and he'll need proper guidance on how to weild the darksaber. Perhaps Luke will be the one to ultimately convice Din to pursue the path the Armorer set out for him, but to make his own decision on what it truely means to be mandalorian along the way. I believe that a surviving Mythosaur may be present under the mines, and as the armorer stated in the prophetic legend, will be a major part in the unification of the mandalorian people.

All valid ideas in my opinion. But I can really see the point that the Armorer is setting up Din Djarin so she can challenge him for the Darksaber. However, by the time The Armorer does this challenge, I think Din will have grasped the use of the Darksaber and The Armorer loses. The only way I would see Din lose is that maybe the Mandalorian show is ending and they want to do another spin-off show. The way I am seeing the Mandalorian is that it still has a great deal to offer and they should consider extending this show. The Mandalorian is a hit show bringing in a great audience and that also means $$$ why would you want to end something that is making you $$$?

I think she’s trying to make him into her idealised Mandolorian successor, issue is she only sees him as he was before the journey and is incapable of seeing him as this much more confident and capable man who priotised the protection of Grogu over himself. The fact that he had been unmasked immediately changed the dynamic between he and her, so she sent him on the quest. I think that ultimately, to use the armourer terminology, that Din is much more flexible and tempered then he once was, his quality of character becoming less cultish mandolorian extremist and more of a protector of the people as a whole, even when he is battered or dinged he will be reforged. The armourer is cast iron, she is incredibly hard and Brittle and thus would shatter before she bends her ideology. That means that at some point, their beliefs will be incompatible and she will challenge him for the dark saber. Why not now? Because up to that point she hadn’t seen the change in Din, but wont tarnish her honour, she still believes he will serve the way blindly as she does. That and honour is a real big thing; she legit believes that Mandolore was razed because of a *energy sword*, that’s profoundly superstitious, but to her it’s real.

Notice that the Armourer didn't call him an "apostate" when banishing Din. That might not be a bad development for him. Just "a wait and see" stance of what he's going to do next. Maybe she's got plans for him?

She's always been very objective in her observations and interactions. She talks about the the Jedi, Empire, and Bo Katan very matter-of-factually and seemingly without judgement. She already told Din what he needs to do redeem himself. I imagine "wait and see" is correct.

Prob means that she still acknowledge Din as the rightful wielder of the Dark Saber and a potential leader, but knows that he is still not ready to be the ruler Mandalorians need due to a conflicted spirit, so she thought finding the Living waters would be the trial Din needs to be ready. To be honest although I did love Grogu, I honestly think the upcoming Mandalorian battles are no place for a baby, it’s best if for the moment Grogu remains safe with Luke, but I as well as many other Star Wars fans would love to see the reunification of all the Mandalorian clans. In legendsJango Fett was head of the at the time largest Mandalorian faction, the true Mandalorian is, and he always intended for Boba to rebuild it after it was destroyed. Although Boba may not lead it, I think it’s very probable he will be a part of his fathers dream to have a true mandalorians return. In fact maybe when the Mandalorian is deciding what to do boba will tell him of his father’s group and he may in fact choose that one to rebuild.

Agree, I think things should escalate and they should keep Grogu on the side lines for now training, then we can possibly get a Trained Talking Grogu later down the line. I am hoping that the Armourer is guiding Din down the path of his destiny with the Dark Sabre, just as she guided him to return Grogu to his kind. Anytime that he would doubt that his assignment was even possible to achieve (whether it be find a a Jedi wizard to train the foundling Grogu or attone for your sins via the living waters under the mines of Mandalore ), she just responds with "this is the way" so he will accept nothing less in his relentless pursuit to achieve it. It looks like she may have some hidden agendas/motives & obviously tells stories that fit her narrative, but it seems that it works; although Din suffers through these trials, it ultimately brings out the best in him and gets him 1 step closer. Does she possibly may know something about Din's past (his real parentage, perhaps) that fullfills in her mind another heretofore unknown prophecy, heralding in a new era for Mandalorians? Is she going to keep pushing him - even if it means ultimately that she will need to be killed by him in a final duel - in order for him to fulfill his destiny & become the true leader? Stay tuned for Season III. I have spoken.

I kinda see her in a role of a mentor. She is clearly a cultural leader and is likely grooming Din to eventually take up the mantle. She gives him trials because she sees potential in him along with acknowledges his accomplishments. As he strayed from his creed by revealing his face, she gives him more opportunities to redeem himself. The mandalorians presented here are paladin like in the characteristics of adherence to a code of honor/chivalry and also being armored.

Past two episodes made me think that the Darksaber is meant for Grogu. Dinn is not a Force user, he can't wield it properly, and he doesn't want to lead the Mandalorians. The blade was made by someone who was both a Mandalorian and a Jedi. What if Grogu decides to become both? Take both the armor and Yoda's saber. And teach Luke that the previous order was too dogmatic, that's why it had to go, and the new Jedi must be more open minded as well. Of course this means that Grogu must fight daddy Mando for it. But what if he earns it in combat by fighting at his side?

Again, when you think of it, Din did not kill Moff Gideon and still got the sabre.......Which would mean that Bo Katan does not need to kill Mando and that they could just have some sort of sparring/non lethal type fight....What would be the big deal about that? Before that episode I had assumed that season 3 would center around Mandslore, the Dark Sabre and who will rule the new Mandalore. Grogu? I figured we would see a little bit here and there with the season ending with some sort of trouble with Grogu setting up the main story line for a season 4 if there is one. I myself am ready for some season 3 Mandalore future with a little bit of Grogu, maybe a tiny bit of Boba Fett and a ton of Mandalorian culture.

If Grogu returns to Din I’m rating the Mandalorian 3/10, I do not want to see him, it’ll ruin the point of the previous Seasons. It’s a show about Din not about him. This is a similar situation in the Book of Boba, it’s like Boba is a side character in his own show, those Jedi parts should never be in the show, it doesn’t belong there, it is awesome but it ruins the show.

May I address that season 3 we'll be going to Mandalore. To the living waters of Mandalore, some place no one thinks you can go. Din Djarin is going to be a mandalorian again and learn to be a true mando in the heart of the mando culture. also the dark Sabre is more like Excalibur able to be held but not to be used except by the focused. The armorer could see the doubt and asked the question about the helmet. She understood his problem and gave him an answer to multiple issues. I actually don't think that the helmet is that important considering the Vizsla family has taken them off. However I think they are now following older teachings that the Mando should be almost faceless. something akin to the older ways and the super commando code. So I do think Din and Grogo are going to do this. Also I think in some ways the great mythosaur either is Boba Fett or boba fett will help find one on.... a strange desert planet. Just thinking. PS: Mando and empire antagonists in Mandalorian season 3.

I don't see Paz Vizla and the Armorer as Mandos, i see them as cowards. I doubt the Empire used nukes, as not all mushroom clouds are created by nuclear weapons. And the only people to not see Din Djarin as the rightful ruler of Mandalore probably is Paz and the Armorer, and they don't really have any legit claim to the darksaber, but guess who has, Mando has, and that makes him the rightful ruler of the Mandalorian people and of Mandalore. He did defeat Gideon in fair combat, and Paz showed he isn't even ready to fight with an oversized knife. The Armorer didn't even try to do anything, as she straight up turned on and abandoned her people by throwing out the rightful ruler of the Mandalorian people, which again literally is Din Djarin. Having the darksaber and not losing it in honorable battle means you are a Mandalorian. Paz might have a reason to want the darksaber, as he's related to the creator of the weapon, but as he never won it back in fair and honorable combat against Djarin, he's just a pretender, just like Bo-Katan Kryze. The only one with a legit claim to even be the rightful leader of Mandalore as planet and the Mandalorian people is Din Djarin

I'm sure that on his way to Mandalore, and once he get there, he will discover other details about Mandalorian legends, truths, and what needs to happen for Mandalorians to take their rightful place in the galaxy again (other than being bounty hunters overall). Grogu will go along with him, and probably learn things about his past and species. Maybe "Baby Yoda" becomes much more in-tune with the force. Possible dawning as the first members of a Jedi/Mandolorian allegiance that takes hold (even if only small in the beginning). Or at least an allegiance with Grogu/Yoda's species and the Mandolorians.

I also think this is a lot of wishful thinking. Filoni and Favreau are great story tellers and they will not sacrifice great story for some meta epic tale. Mando's love and loyalty to Grogu, to Boba Fett, to Ahsoka, to the Covert, and even to bokatan will set him on a collision course of adventure. Of course, Filoni did not waste that shot with Ahsoka, so Thrawn will be featured or talked about at least, and Sabine Wren will plausibly make an appearance. But if anything epic happens it's all due and in the interest of great story telling.
