BETA SELLS OUT!!! Sorcery TCG secondary market skyrockets

Team Covenant confirmed today that they have just sold out of their remaining Beta booster boxes, being one of the last retailers with product available at MSRP in North America. Within hours the secondary market exploded with prices of some singles and sealed product increasing over 100%. Where will the market land?

Thank you for putting out this video and waiting to see what happens before posting. I enjoyed the 24 hour perspective of the secondary market. It will be interesting to see what happens over the next week. I am already seeing a slow down in orders & we are now at about the 24 hour mark. Foils def took off; but most NF are not seeing much movement at all (well, besides the A9), but even Highland Princess was not looking too bad movement and price wise. I think that there are (and will be) still plenty of NF available for building or adding to your current game deck; but yeah folks that want to 'Foil Flex' with their game deck are gonna have to stop by the gym (atm/bank) before they go to game night at their LCS. Not saying there is anything wrong with the flex, just saying the game need not be foil to enjoy the play & art. Plus, most are playin on Table Top, which I think is great & that and the discord(s) for finding other players is great way to play & learn. I see the last 24 hours as more panic foil sales/buying, and see all the coverage, as only another way to get more folks talking & interested in sorcery. There is an April 'wave' that will release, even if a lot of stuff seems to be more Europe based. We had our time in the US; and folks like @Cardboardguide & others have been struggling to get anything for pricing that was not VAT taxed to death. It seems only right that the April 'wave' should focus on supporting our European based communities; so they can have their time to share & grow their local game play community before AL releases. This is however, just my opinion and 'opinions are like butts... we all got them and they all stink" LOL.

Absolutely my pleasure, and thanks for watching! I agree that giving it some time to see what happened was important, and wanted to wait to respond to your comment to see how the market settled. I think a lot of the panic buying has definitely decreased and prices for most singles and foils have been settling. It looks like box prices continued to rise, peaking at about 300 USD and now settling around 280 on TCGPlayer. I totally agree with you related to the distribution of the product reprint for under served regions as well, I feel bad for the folks in regions that didn't have access to the same amount of product as North America. The official reprint announcement shortly after this video was uploaded was great to hear as they are trying to support those other markets. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!

I totally agree, I just rechecked some of the staples mentioned in the video and the prices are still increasing. It looks like sealed boxes are sitting around $300 USD with a few sold in that range. Foil unique prices have bumped as well, most notably the Philosopher's Stone with 3 being sold for 1150 yesterday and now only 1 is listed for $2,500 (no sales in that range yet). I've felt really bad seeing how challenging it was for everyone there to get boxes, I really wish it was easier to get them from the states to Europe. I hope the distribution problem is worked out for the AL launch.

Into the sunset for sure, prices for sealed are nearly double MSRP at this point. Interested to see how that may change with the limited reprint in Q4, though I think what we see now is probably the best it will get for a while.

The precons are a fantastic starting point, the price for 4 decks and a booster can't be beat! I was also glad to see an official announcement after TC sold out related to reprint runs, I think it will certainly help the player base especially those just joining as AL releases. Great video. Thank you! Nice to are a real time reaction over the last 24. I keep a cart of stuff on TCG to price check and buy bits and bobs of and the big pile of exceptionals I was going to get next month almost tripled in price. Mostly due to dual sites, but still, a rough early sign for the market. Long term hoping to see stabilization at only slighter higher than original rates and maybe a small rerelease or unlimited announcement. Sorcery has always been a hard sell to players around me and higher prices ain't gonna help. Cheers.

I was in the same boat as you, and was actually planning on trying to work through some of my chase cards the weekend after the sell out occurred. That plan certainly changed, it was incredible to see the prices soar. I think the official announcement of a limited reprint lined up with AL should help the market some, though I suppose it will also depend on how large the reprint it is. I think it will also impact different regions in different ways, especially those with lower initial distribution... hoping those areas can see some more reasonable prices especially for NF singles.

I made sure to get 1 of every beta unique so when beta eventually sold out, if i wanted to get a play set of the entire beta set i wouldnt have to start paying through the nose for every card. LOL

That's a great idea! The uniques definitely took off, especially the alchemy 9 ones. Having those prior to the sell out would certainly make it easier to complete the set. Hope you are able to finish it up, how many more do you need?

@@ArchivesOfTheRealm There are a couple of elites that ill need a 2nd copy of and some exceptional i either didnt manage to get a play set of or that i use in so many decks i ended up running out of the for my binder. I have my alchemy 9 accounted for. Was one of the main priorities. That and a full play set of every dual land.

@yumyumeatemup I was in a similar position as I was completing my set too, was surprised to see how many elites I only had 1 of. I've run into a similar conundrum with the exceptional cards too, I'm starting to have to shuffle cards between all of the decks I've built 🤣. I'm thinking about giving myself a 3 deck at a time limit.

💯, I had been a bit slow on some of the cards I have been looking for too. As soon as I saw the news go up I went to TCGplayer to try to order them, they disappeared from my cart right as I was about to checkout with someone buying out the entire stock. I'm hoping the prices stabilize once a few weeks pass, lots of the listings are pretty ridiculous. How many cards are you missing?

@@ArchivesOfTheRealm around a 150 hard to tell anyways without curious and promos I’m currently trying to find The Champion (Beta) can’t find it anywhere unlike (Alpha) which it’s surprising.

@@jcgrx2251 I'm surprised by the Beta Champion as well, I ended up getting lucky and winning mine at an event though have been surprised that they are harder to get compared to the Alpha ones. My guess is that because they are only available in the Social Kits for the stores (1 per kit) there have been a much smaller number printed and they are actually being used as event promos. In contrast, I haven't seen a single Alpha promo offered as a prize and the secondary market has had ample supply of them since release. Really hope that you are able to complete your set, I have a feeling things will eventually cool off though just sucks for those who legitimately want to collect the set vs. speculators.

Honestly I think people are going to be excited but I think that this is bad for the game long term. People are going to let prices skyrocket and that will slow down growth of the game. Team covent was holding prices stable now "off to the moon" in prices but not in playing the game

I tend to agree with you, I'm really hoping that when it stabilizes things come back down to a reasonable level for most of the non-foils so people can pick up what they need for their decks/sets. I think foils and sealed will be harder to predict, and they are definitely showing a large amount of inflation now. It boggles my mind that a lot of foils are being posted for higher prices than their alpha counterparts
