If it had KYB suspension I would consider the Beta X trainer.

Right on! I think suspension is a very personal thing - really depends on where you ride, how fast you're going...etc. I've ridden a lot of different Betas over the years, as well as other bikes with KYBs... in some cases I loved it, in other cases I hated it. There have been situations where I preferred the open cartridge non-Race edition suspension, as it has a more supple feel due to fewer moving parts. In general, I think I'd personally only go KYB if the main purpose of the bike was racing enduro and harescrambles - faster speeds and hitting stuff hard. For hard enduro and trail riding, I'd probably want to valve the KYBs softer, at which point I might have as well just gone with the regular RR suspension. But that's my personal opinion, and I generally like softer (lighter springs and less damping) suspension that moves a lot. To each their own! The suspension on the Xtrainer honestly surprised me. There isn't much to it, but it's quite capable, and the chassis/balance of the bike is really good so that even when you run out of suspension the bike stays very composed.
