Here is my Actual rates I use for 5 inch freestyle: Roll: 190 1000 0.60 Pitch: 190 1000 0.60 Yaw 200 650 0.45 I also put my throttle limit% down to 80 after selecting Scale on throttle limit. If I want a smoother throttle for more cinematic type flights ill check what my throttle is while checking in the goggle OSD and just hovering in place before I set anything else in the throttle section, mine is 35 while at a hover so I'll put in throttle mid 40 as I always add about 5 to the hovering number. In throttle expo ill set that to anything around 0.15.

Good discussion... Not changing to actual rates but they definitely make more sense. I'm not changing because I have rates that I like, but if I were I would probably switch over. Now for my rates.. Dare you to try them. These are BF rates (rc rate, super rate, Rc expo) Roll: 1.1, 0.52, 0 (458 degrees) Pitch: 1.1, 0.5, 0 (440 degrees) Yaw: 0.7, 0.24, 0 (184 degrees)

Actual IS where it’s at! Here is some samples for y’all… Smoothboi build R/P 400 1200 0.5 Y 200 400 0 IMASquirrel build R/P 120 1200 0.2 Y 120 300 0 BigBoy build R/P 200 800 0.5 Y 100 500 0 I DO have R and P different on some builds I just can’t remember each quads rates, this is just the average starting point before fine tuning. Great job Bacon man!!! 🥓❤ Edit: Actual rates is much easier when you are tuning your rate curves on different quads. I used to fiddle with Betaflight rates but it honestly took forever to get just right. WAY faster with Actual rates, I can keep my max rate constant and just fine tune the acceleration curve.
@BaconNinjaFPV2 жыл бұрын
man you running those high max rates bro!!! lol. I will have to give those a shot, and I will probably do a vid where I try a pack on different people's rates for fun. Actual rates make those manipulations so much easier since they are clearly related to degrees per second...unlike those silly old Betaflight rates, lol.
@lemonsquareFPV2 жыл бұрын
@@BaconNinjaFPV Yeah man, do it!!! I ran 1600 on half my 5” flights today. I found that that’s my natural rhythm. Previously I never tried over 1200 max rate. But half and quarter rolls become very inconsistent. I still haven’t found the perfect balance. But I guess there isn’t such a thing… my different flying styles and quads require vastly different rates. Your video inspired me. I had tons of fun experimenting today. Thank you.

I started off with bf rates of .8, .8, .3 which was 800 deg/sec if I remember right. I do a lot more racing now and adopted the 543 rates .8, .7 with .15 of expo for me. Switched over to actual rates this year using that conversion calculator 👍 I currently run Racing R/P/Y 110, 530, .6 Freestyle R/P 110, 720, .6 Y 110, 530, .6
@1997Jeep Жыл бұрын
This is such an interesting conversation. I recently built a new quad myself & had to convert to actual rates. My rates are R/P/Y 200 800 .64 I have tried reducing my rates in the past, but I haven't felt comfortable flying with lower rates. I'll have to try upping the center sensitivity with actual rates. Changing max rate messes with reflexe moves when getting out of a tight spot.
@lemonsquareFPV Жыл бұрын
@@1997Jeep My current rates on light weight precision builds are similar to what you are running right now. But they are not perfect, that’s just what I’m at currently. Seems like an always evolving thing for me. 🤷♂️ RP 290 800 0.52 Y 270 420 0 I have a hard time if my Yaw is the same as Roll and Pitch, I always have it way lower for the precision. Also, if I Yaw too fast my brain can’t keep up, Pitch and Roll I have no issue with being stupid fast.

I think 700 degrees per second would be the top end of where I am comfortable too. I really like the 600 because the ends are very predictable...which is important when I am coming out of a move and need to know exactly where I am going to be facing, lol. I always appreciate you bro!

Thanks for this. I have a question about the way your drone flies. Do you PID tune your drones. I like the way your drone has nice movement. Very sharp.
@BaconNinjaFPV2 жыл бұрын
You are very welcome! I do tune them slightly. My daily driver really only has a couple of tweaks, and the rest is basically stock betaflight. Most of the sharp movement is really just my stick inputs. It is all about knowing how much input you need to get where you want to go without having to adjust along the way. Makes it easier to just slam the stick where it needs to be without hunting around, and that is what makes it look snappy.

Bacon, you're timing is spooky sometimes, haha. I was researching and testing good sbang pilot rates yesterday. Most of them tend to fly very linear rates with 1000+ degree roll rates, which made me fly twitchy. I settled on some curve hoping it wouldn't slow my growth. These are the actual rates I settled on, but I'm going to try your rates now :) P: 200 800 0.5 R: 200 800 0.5 Y: 210 600 0.3

@BaconNinjaFPV2 жыл бұрын
I am glad you got it working one way or the other, lol. Not all rate curves convert perfectly for sure. It really all depends on how much you are using RC rate vs super rate in your BF setup. I jumped into the tool with your rates and was able to get the curves to lay on each other, although your dotted lines wont because of the lack of super in your BF rates. I came out to 150 420 0.32 in actual. I wonder how that compares to what you found doing it with a comparison in BF configurator.
