That was a masterclass in presenting and explaining a technical topic young man. First class. I have just got into FPV, I have a protek 35 and all I want is slow gentle cinematic flying with gentle curves the kind you see when flying over corn fields. I guess i need to set my rats so I have a very flat S. I dont need to do flips and loops, but I hope to learn a split S turn/dive at least. For now I have just adjusted my throttle to scale 65%

I think this is the best I have ever heard rates explained. Great video!! I’ve been using the same rates for almost six months. They work well for me but mid stick is to sensitive and I have to use a crazy yaw rate of 1300 degrees. due to the arthritis in my left hand I can’t hit full stick on yaw. I finally have a method of fine tuning my rates. Thank you.

Very impressed and now educated - I was a dummy until I watched this video 👍 Betaflight has got so good at tuning PID's I totally forgot about the rates. I need that little bit of extra snappy at the end of my sticks as the standard BF tune is just a tad too slow for me when flying freestyle (but fantastic in long range). Just what I was looking for!!, thanks, ill keep this one on my re-watch list until I find my ideal rates... PS: for what you explained, it seems like rates should probably be changing with you as you grow as a pilot, don't they?
@TimmyRC
@TimmyRC 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yes, as you grow as a pilot you may find that you want faster rates or that you can handle a more linear response curve. Just be wary of changing your rates too often because you have to re-learn the response of the quad every time you change your rates, which can slow down other improvements in your flying.

Hi Tim, Just subscribed to your channel. I’ve been wanting to learn about rates, but have been very hesitant in doing so because (as you said) they can be very intimidating. Your video on tuning is very well done and you’re doing an excellent job in explaining/showing how it is done. One aspects of tuning the PIDs or Rates that I’ve not seen anyone explain is what is the main difference when tuning for a 1S and a 2S or higher cell count battery? Thanks...Sam
@TimmyRC
@TimmyRC 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! There is no difference when tuning rates for different cell counts. For tuning PIDs, generally the gains are lower for higher cell counts on the same multirotor.
@samavella8831
@samavella8831 3 жыл бұрын
@@TimmyRC Thanks Timmy. It still would be interesting in illustrating this via a KZbin video - Just a suggestion. I assume that this is what EMAX has done for their TinyHawk Original, S and 2 where their PIDs and PID Profiles are designed specifically for a 1S and a 2S battery.
