Bad signal wire connection from the FC to the ESC can cause the arming flag. I've had the jumper wire plug between the boards come loose, but the power wires still had contact. The ESC and FC both made tones, but it gave me the RPM warning when I tried to arm. Once I seated the plug back in it was good to go.
@TheDro4 жыл бұрын
i had a bad wire where the wire was broken on the inside of the sleeve so it looked fine but i kept getting random rpm filter warnings and twice the quad just shut off mid air during a flip (probably from the wire moving and then a failsafe occured) so yea, definitely check wires too! sometimes rebooting does fix it though!
@XenFPV4 жыл бұрын
Yeah that was my issue, turned out the pins and socket between the FC and ESC was totally ripped off the board and was just about making enough contact to kind of work most of the time.

@BruceLuckcuck4 жыл бұрын
I've only ever seen the intermittent RPMFILTER warning (that goes away with a power cycle) on BLHeli32 and in particular with F3-based ESCs. It's caused by a timing problem on the DSHOT reply packet. The problem actually happens on all BLHeli32 ESCs but the faster F3 processors seem to be worse. That's why there's a 32.7.2 BLHeli32 version as it addresses this timing problem.

I've been having an interesting issue with RPM filter warning on a blheliS 4in1 running JESC. I've noticed that if I have the quad sitting on some surfaces before take off like my drone backpack that has some flexibility I can get this warning and occasionally one motor will not spin up and it's not always the same motor. If I just pick up the quad and hold it firmly in my hand it will arm no problem with no warning and all motors spin. If I take off from a smooth firm surface like concrete I never have a warning. One more detail is I'm using 3 blade folding 4" props. **new info** I folded some small pieces of aluminum tape around my motor wires that are very close and crossing my FC to ESC wire harness to try and stop interference. So far after around 15 or so arming and power cycles I have not been able to re create the rpm warning. Also this is BF 4.4

I think you're onto a bug in BetaFlight. My quad randomly throws an Rpmfilter flag that will persist until the next power cycle. BLheli32 on a luminear esc with a luminear lux f7 fc. Its fine until I'm racing and I do a pack change and I have to run back out and powercycle it. If any Devs are reading this my advice is check if the incoming buffer can get an invalid byte in it that then doesn't get cleared because a buffer overrun occurs.

What I find annoying is sometimes when using GPS rescue the quad won't arm even with enough sats. I know sometimes there are still not enough good signaled sats and it will show more but less than are shown are usable to satisfy the min sats variable but there is another scenario where no matter how long you leave it it will just not arm. If you power cycle it immediately reconnects and arms. Now if it takes more than a few minutes I always power cycle.

So are you saying for the stock BLHeli S we can use version 16.71 or newer to enable rmp filtering or is that for the jazzmaverick firmware and if it is for stock BLHeli S is there a reason you recommend jesc over stock BLHeli S? Thanks for the info

It turns out that blheli_s 16.71 is jazzmaverick, just "official" and easy to flash using existing tools. Thank you again Joshua Bardwell. I didn't have this issue, but I now know why I can't get bidirectional dshot to work. I'm guessing that for it, the ESC needs telemetry? I have also lost the ability to get any response from Ghost in the reciever tab. I went through the troubleshooting for it on immersionrc's website, and it still doesn't work. The receiver is showing bound and I have telemetry working with the nano tramp; I've been able to change the video channel.
