Concrete Blonde makes their very first TV appearance on the second episode of a shortlived talk show called It's Fritz, broadcast 5-23-87 and featuring a short interview as well as two songs - okay, more like one and a half songs, as the cable broadcast seems to "fritz" out several times during the second song performance. The BetaGems channel also has "Concrete Blonde 5-15-92 with Tom Petersson late night TV performance, 2 songs."
BetaGems are culled from an archive of over 1000 beta video tapes recorded from 1983 into the 1990s. Most feature live music performances broadcast on television in San Diego CA, though there are also rarely seen commercials, comedy clips, and other material that doesn't seem to be anywhere else on KZbin or online. Most of the tapes were recorded on a Sony SL-HFT7 Super Beta Theater Hi-Fi Stereo - the same model was refurbished and is being used for these digital transfers and uploads.
In rare occasions where a BetaGems clip does appear elsewhere, we're only uploading if our own beta master is better quality or contains material not seen previously. Much footage comes from public television and public access broadcasts that the taper monitored nightly for several years. Some of the programming is strictly regional, mostly from the San Diego area. This upload features materials protected by the Fair Use guidelines of Section 107 of the Copyright Act. I was front row in Towson MD in 02- my balls were literally onstage. Afterwards I ran around back to their bus for pics and they autographed my Group Therapy CD. No Harry tho- he was in jail. My favorite band since I heard her do that voice cracking thing at the 3:16 mark of Joey. So many good tunes. They deserved more success than they got.

@@amo0707- It's a whole generation and their parents apparently who don't understand the meaning of the word. What is meant of course is underappreciated, or, often, why did it take me so long to discover this! Lol

This band was always years ahead of their time and classic poetry. She tops my list as American writers and her band mates top class musicians

Looks like a side gig for Fritz Coleman. He was a weather reporter for one of the local LA affiliates. I think it was NBC.

Wow, thanks for sharing this! A pretty good look at their raw early sound & show! They definitely got more polished in the studio, but it's really cool to hear what they sounded like in a small more intimate venue in their early years!

Cuz it’s for rappers and hip hoppers now. Shout out to Dolly Parton for telling them no when they wanted to put her in there. It took them like 39 years to get Randy Rhoads when it should’ve been in 1983. Dicks. “And now please welcome the man who is synonymous with rock n roll… Puff Daddy!”
