This band is so underrated! Saw them many times and was always blown away at Johnette’s energy. And that voice! Some of the best concerts of my life.

@@4nDr3X667Mad I think unless people have tried to do that, they don't realise quite how difficult it is. It's not the same as struming a 6 string and singing.

No. That’s Jim’s 90’s period sound. No one sounded like Jim Manley. Reunion tour he leaned on both very little. Genius.

First time I played God is a Bullet for my 21 year old daughter and told her it was written in 1989, she said, "Wow. That's still on point 30 years later, isn't it?" The second verse in particular struck her like a hammer.

I was on a flight with a friend who had never heard of CB and gave him the Free disc to listen (on a Discman!) during the flight. When he gave it back, he said, "That is one of the best albums I've ever heard."

Saw these guys twice at the Coach House, San Juan Capistrano, late 80s. They were great. Would never have known of them were it not for the fact that FM radio still featured bands like this vs. same old stuff we've all heard a million times over...

GOODTIMES⚡️🌎⚡️Thanks for rockin my world Concrete Blonde 🌟🌟🌟🌟There's a green plaid jacket on the back of the chair It's like a moment frozen forever there Mom and dad had a lot of big plans for their little man So proud. Mama's gone crazy 'cause her baby's shot down By some teenage car chase war out of bounds It was the wrong place wrong time wrong end of a gun. Shoot straight from the hip Gone forever in a trigger slip You know, it could have been It could have been your brother. Shoot straight shoot to kill Blame each other, blame yourselves God is a bullet have mercy on us everyone They're gonna call me sir they'll all stop picking on me Well I'm a high school grad I'm over 5 foot 3 I'll get a badge and a gun and I'll join the P.D. They'll see He didn't have to use the gun they put in his hand But when the guy came at him, well he panicked and ran And it's thirty long years before they give him another chance And it's sad sad sad John Lennon, Doctor King, Harvey Milk All for goddamn nothing God is a bullet have mercy on us everyone

This was the production of a German TV company, and they were still sensitive to referencing weapons artillary and esotericism or gnosticism. It is possible that the title didn't fly for network TV in Germany and a show producer did that. I think that error was on purpose. Parts of the Berlin Wall may have still been standing during the time of this concert. Either way the rubble was still fresh and they were wound really tight well into the 90s. Germany had some strict public image rules for 4 to 5 decades following the 2nd Great War. Johnette's homevideo from Germany that was on the DVD shows an unproud, unenthusiastic culture. It was shot during Oktoberfest and she was not amused.

The murder of George Floyd by former Officer Chauvin and his pals only miles from here… Oh, I guess in retrospect…maybe I was a bit…rough . . . Yeah, I agree now that I abused the rights of (yet another) human being under color of uniform… (And I similarly kneeled on the rights of that youngster years later…though I didn’t succeed in killing that one . . .) This is Minnesota. This is America. This is humankind. Thank you to all those people who Protect & Serve…by filming interactions!!
@williesnyder28992 жыл бұрын
correction: “…years earlier…” not “later…” Chauvin was a serial human rights abuser, having admitted (only??) two such abuses committed while in uniform. Chauvin may have thought than citizens were annoying gum stuck on his shoe sole, but they were of beating hearts such as his own; something I can only hope that he learns some day or night in…a cage. God is..
