Lawrence Green hi, I did this strategy but laying first but offset it with 20 ticks. For some reason not only did the horse win but I lost my whole stake. I thought that once this was set up you didn’t need to stop loss manually 🤔 any suggestions? Offset with greening & stop instead?

Generally I don't just go after favourites as a way of choosing a Back to Lay. There should be a strategy where the opportunity to bail out is clear. For example You back the horses you believe will get an easy lead and this will shorten the price. Then if it gets an easy lead you will get paid. If not you can cash out - reducing or eliminating any potential lose.

The problem is when a horse drifts in the market and your lay bet doesn't get taken.

I've watched this video several times and i still can't quite understand the '40 ticks'. If the Back bet was at 6.6, should BA have made the Lay bet at 2.6?

As Peter says this is a well proven strategy if you do a bit of homework, yes you'll get a few losses but the stats over the long run is what matters. BA manages this trade strategy well.

he set up the software to lay 40 ticks below the back odds. if he layed 3.2 with £10 the profit would have been zero on all the outcomes except on indian stream. laying 3.2 with 21.25 meant that the winning price for all horses/outcomes was £11.25. if it was £20 instead he would have won a few pounds more if indian summer had won and won a few pounds less if any of the other horses won. try it yourself on betfair (you don't need to actually place any bets, as long as you have the 'what if' setting turned on in the settings)

2 years late but what youre referring to is a slightly different strategy. You're referring to scalping which is a strategy taking advantage of minor market fluctuations before the event.

It's balance between profits and losses so you have run a strategy based on that or come up with another position to mitigate it. Though the latter is generally not recommended.

Peter how do you determine who will be the frontrunner from the information that pacecards provide? As i subscribed to their trial and they gave me only odds age trainer jockey etc.

confused Rich. You do this for a living yet cant see the logic behind Peter not giving away his IP. He didn't explain why he chose this horse? He just did it randomly. There is a good chance it messed up the fences or weakened earlier on and he never got matched. He needs to explain why he chose this one, then it's useful

Your software did it again in the 3.40pm at towcester wghen dusktilldawn is backed at 2.66 and the lay bet is adjusted by myself to 1.81 but when the race is just aboput to go to inplay the lay bet is matched at 2.7 NOT 1.80! I really cannot see how I can make any money with this, and already I am down on account of using it.! Doesn't work dude!

They should switch to a more simple 0-100 betting system like Intrade. 50% odds=50cent share price. Each share that wins is redeemed for 100cents. You could buy and sell shares any time before the event ends

Yep, that's the way it works. You focus on market selection also.
