Okay, I see why people are relating this to Divergent, but I see more of why it was made for City Of Bones. If you've read the books, you'll realize that some of the things she said are actually in the book too. For example, when it says "behind this soft exterior lies a warrior" it references to the fact that Jace always thinks of her as strong yet fragile, a "glass explosive". "Let me feel the sting, the pain, the burn under my skin" references the steles they use to make runes. "Teach me how to fight" is her becoming a real Shadowhunter, training for it. "You're my mortal flaw and I'm your fatal sin" is talking about when they thought they were bro and sis, but they still loved each other. Hence "flaw" and "sin". Also the lyrics "won't let myself believe that what we feel is wrong" ties to that too. "The beauty of a broken angel" is almost literally what Clary describes Jace as. Not to mention the whole "I question/am seeing/sure of who I am" is literally her different stages through the entire book series. Like I literally could go on, but this comment is long enough. Like I said, I love Divergent, read the book too, its just I see more COB in it.

I first discovered this track in 2019, right after having a seizure that resulted in multiple injuries. In a sense, it became my "battle anthem," my motivation to keep going despite nearly losing my life. I could have quit, but I didn't. I am still fighting the seizures and had two more TBIs in the years following, but I came back stronger. Every time I feel down, I come back to this one to remind myself that I'm stronger than what has tried to break me. Thank you for this one, Beth.

@@Ash_forestz I wish I didn't know it was connected to City of Bones, because just knowing that I can't even listen to it. I envy you for that since I'll never know how good a song it is. That book was so bad it traumatized me. I can't even talk with my wife about the books without going on a rant about the inconsistency of the characters and the willful stupidity of the main character. We made it through by sheer force of will, and we have never opened about book by that author since. Having learned it was essentially fanfiction with names changed, it doesn't surprise me (author, to my understanding, did actually write this as a fanfiction of several different worlds with a Mary Sue self insert, and changed the names and such to avoid plagiarism when she went to begin publishing it; also had some plagarism issues in her past)

Whenever I hear this song my chest closes up and my heart feels like it's being crushed and makes me want to cry. It reminds me of myself because I went through A LOT in 13 years of my life and I was suicidal for 9 years. I'm 15 now and I'm the warrior because I pushed myself and I'm still here. I still have not gotten through my trauma but I'm also still here. This song really made my year.. earlier this year, near the beginning of the school year, we were gonna do a musical. The teacher decided to do something different, and she picked 3 people to make a song, or choose one off the internet, then we'd base the musical off the song.. I was one of the three people, and we were all struggling to write a song, when one night I found this song, and I emailed it to the 2 others and they loved it. This song always makes me kind of emotional every time I hear it, because it was based off of City Of Bones, and one of my best friends moved away to Florida shortly after introducing those books to me. It just reminds me of her every time, but on another note, it's really well written and sounds absolutely fabulous.

I just started reading the Mortal Instruments like a few months ago, and I’ve listened to this song for years. Then I thought (as I think with everything) that this glorious book series should be a musical. I'm going to be honest and say that I haven't read The Mortal Instruments yet, but I have read the divergent series and I am going to say that this fits more with TMI. I can connect the characters with different lines of the song. It's really amazing.

I know that song was made for the City of Bones but I see here that The Infernal Devices series. I don't know how but I see here Tessa and Will. I see that scene when he saves her in 1st part. I see here Jem who is dying. I see there the village in flames. And I see many, many things about TID. Sorry , but i don't know English very well
