The first time I saw this performance I realized that Janis Joplin has been reincarnated in Beth Hart. She was born only a few months after Janis passed and has her spirit, voice, mannerisms and ability. I about fell off my chair in realization that I may never see a better performance anywhere at any time than this one. And somewhere Janis and Etta James simply held hands and smiled. Five and a half years later, I just came back to watch this again. You are correct about all you said, and watching someone react to a video for the first time, was why I started watching "reaction" videos. Then KZbin had to go ruin it, and people that are supposed to be reacting, now pause every 15 - 30 seconds to give a 2-minute summary and just ruin it all, in my opinion. Why can't people just react instead of everyone trying to act like a vocal coach or give long drawn out explanations of why they liked something. These were the "reaction" videos that I enjoy. I would think the artists would tell KZbin to leave the reactors alone. You would think they would be glad people were sharing their music so that thousands of listeners could experience something new. Just the thoughts of an old music lover... rant over.

@jessievoisin54625 жыл бұрын
Glad you decided to jump into the Beth Hart pool... try not to drown mate :) You MUST start the rest of your journey with Am I The One (Live at Paradiso). You can't really appreciate where Beth is now without seeing her earlier masterwork. She's been playing this since the Star Search days. Beth says she made a spectacle of herself in the early days because of her bi-polar insecurity. This is hard to watch because the manic personality is RIGHT there but it is necessary to understand where she is coming from. These days, her medication is dialed in and her performances, while great are missing the CRAZY that oozes out of every frame of this video @ A Change Is Gonna Come - Now that you have a little of Beth's background you know how personal this song is to her. You know you have the vocal chops when you sound this good on someone's cell phone. All the feels! @ Baddest Blues - An ode to Billy Holiday and her Mother. Plenty of great concert performances but the acoustic version always gets me @ Leave the Light On - After Beth's complete breakdown in her late 20s she wasn't sure she could or should try to make music again. This was the first song she wrote on her way back. It hurts to watch her perform this as she bares her soul. There are many outstanding performances. Heres's one of my faves @ Tell Her You Belong To Me - My wife's favorite Beth Hart song. I went years not knowing this was about her father. Written to the woman her father married after divorcing Beth's Mom. She didn't have a relationship with her father again for nearly 20 years. There are tons of great concert performances of this song but the acoustic suits this intimate heartbreak. Goosebumps! @ Caught Out In The Rain - About being in a relationship with someone you know is T-R-O-U-B-L-E but you just can't help yourself. Video proper starts at the @ mark @ Honorable mentions: Sister Heroine, Love Is A Lie and Your Heart Is Black As Night It's always really cool to see Beth perform with Joe Bonamassa (they have released 3 albums together) but Beth REALLY deserves to have the spotlight shone on her as a solo performer. Just my two cents...

I've said this before but I do enjoy the way that you respectfully let the song play out, and how you share your thoughts once in awhile with a little cartoon strip thing above your head, super cool and sometimes funny. I think that ever since SRV'S untimely death there has not really been a blues guitarist who could play at his level, Joe is astounding and even though he uses thinner strings he plays at such a high level. I tend to feel he is the best all around blues guitarist today,and Beth has that gritty Whiskey Drinking and cigarette smoking voice. You would be hard-pressed to find a front woman and a lead guitarist doing the Blues as well as these two, I don't want to leave out how fantastic the Rhythm Section is♡

I've been waiting for you to get to this point. Glad to see you made it to Joe & Beth! Joe took Beth on once she had been in recovery for a while. Beth has had severe bipolar since childhood. From a broken home, she started self-medicating with drugs and alcohol. Said she was ashamed to have anyone know she was "nuts". Beth won Star Search in 1993. She did three albums for Atlantic Records and then they cut her loose because of her extreme behaviors. Beth was committed for a while. She has been clean for some time now. THAT'S why no one really knows that much about her. I wish her the VERY best. Her exceptional voice is probably even better as she knows what pain is ... because she's been there. SUGGESTIONS: "Mama" live at the Paradiso (which she also wrote) and "A Change is Gonna Come" live at the Echoplex.
