Beth's Before and After Garden Story

WELCOME BACK! To my Garden Channel! While I'm waiting for my garden to fill in this summer I thought I'd share our Before and After Garden Story about how this garden was made.
It's been an amazing process building this garden and every year it seems we love it even more. I hope it inspires you to grow something green! Even if it means just 1 herb in a pot on a balcony, gardening will improve your quality of life in so many beautiful and unexpected ways. Enjoy!

Stunning! My grandmother had a large garden and many, many flower beds around their property. It truly made visiting her as a child, a magical experience to explore and admire all the flowers and plants. What a beautiful “grandmother’s house” you will have someday! This is the most amazing garden I have ever seen. It's sooooo gorgeous!!!! Both you and your husband are incredibly creative and hands on. OMG this is absolutely amazing! My parents are crazy about their garden. Now they've been owning their own house garden for three years, but before that, for almost twenty years, they've had a summer garden in the city suburban area (very East European thing in my opinion, a bunch of land divided into small squares so for people living in apartment buildings can have their own piece of land). It's always been fascinating for me to observe plants, fruit, vegetables growing and expanding and I'm really glad my parents have their own land again, and this time - forever! :)

Wonderful story! I started a similar project in an overgrown corner lot with an arts and crafts home that was swallowed by the former owner's "naturalized" yard. Logging the diseased and dying pine forest for healtier cedars and firs and spruce we began the hardscaping.Stacked stone walls, arborvitae hedges, pergola over the patio, the "Hobbit" fence and gate, perennial beds overflowing with a joyfulness, the climbing rose wall of fragrance, shade garden under the magnolia tree, garden rooms that renew us an make us long for home whenever we are away. And a vegetable garden that nutures us. 19 yrs later we don't recognize the original place. Every part of it we built ourselves. 🌻👵👴🌻😊😊

What a wonderful story, I was fortunate to visit the same castle in France almost 10 years ago and it is truly magnificent. You did fantastic job recreating the same spirit in your garden. I live in central Canada with temperatures dropping to minutes 40 degrees Celsius during winter, so our gardens are quite limited here. Love your channel and cooked many of your dishes. You are very inspirational and gifted teacher.

Thanks for showing us this part of your life and your family and the story of how your garden came to be, and while I already knew you were such a nurturing, patient, and loving person, but this video makes me and to give you a big hug right now and I would love to hang out in your garden. I’ve got to say (a) you guys have SOLVED everyone’s issue with fence height restrictions in the city! I mean, the city doesn’t have any codes about growing plants on trellises in your yard!!! Fantastic!! (b) You played the long game and won. (c) I would have loved to have seen you incorporate rain barrels with gravity fed irrigation to some of your plants. Maybe it doesn’t rain in SoCal 😬 I don’t know, honestly! Good job. It’s my dream property - small house on a larger plot of land.

Best story ever! Thanks for sharing. My husband always speak of starting a garden and I cringe at the thought because I pictured, a long traditional southern country garden with rows of dirt that went on forever.
