Your lead guitarist just showed me how to play this intro. Usually done on keys this staccato riff paired w the guitar power chords is what really drives this song. I used to think it was just some rhythmic piece in the key of B. But now I know the secret sauce. The chord changes- in particular the D string and the pinky- staying in tempo and rhythm w the other guitar are providing little triad chords of B, D, A and E. I’m just a novice player. But I love stumbling onto things like this. Tom Petty and Mike Campbell were an incredible team. Beth and her band certainly play this w great talent and conviction. Thank you!

I had One Last Thought...Although I Can't say I "Knew" Tom Petty, or that He and I were "Friends". I did Meet Him Several Years Ago. I Dropped off a Friend at the Atlanta Airport. That is where I met him. He was By Himself awaiting a Connecting Flight to Jacksonville Florida. (3 hour Lay Over) I recognized him. It was Late at Night. Not many People were Around. I approached him to make Sure it was in Fact Him. I Said "Tom, is That You?" He Look Up and Said "Yep". I kept my Voice Down so I didn't Draw Attention to him. I told him that I Enjoyed his Music, and that Many of His Songs Marked different periods in my Life. I didn't want to Take up his Time, I tried to Excuse Myself and Leave him Alone. At that Point He Asked me if I wanted to Get a Drink at the Airport Bar, on Him. "Ahh, well Yes Sir." Long story...But, I think he would be Pleased with You and the Boys have done with one of His Songs. We had several Drinks, and Talked for 2 Hours. It was a Cool Experience. He was just a Normal Guy.
