Putting it out there that if you do NONE of these things in this season with young kids in your home... THAT'S OKAY TOO ❤What's realistic for every family is going to be different and what works for me may not work for you! You're doing a great job. 👏🏻

So I hate cleaning. But I impulse bought one of those Tineco wet dry mops for $250 from Target like an hour after watching this video. I've never done that before, but so glad I did. My 3 year old "helped push" and we got all but one tiled floor done before the battery ran out. Much better.

When my daughter was around 18 months old I started teaching her to pick up her toys at the end of the day. Of course I help her, but just having her help has been awesome. 😊

Great tips :) something that makes a huge impact for me is having a list of 7 weekly tasks that I take 10 minutes on. I choose one of them to do each day and am flexible in terms of which tasks get done on which days and at what times. I only spend 10 minutes so if there's more to do, I just make sure to hit that area the next week.

One of my favorite tidying tips is having a dedicated playroom for my toddler. We had an awkward sized room in our house and didn’t know what to do with it, so it became her playroom with a diaper and nursing station for our upcoming baby. Her toys used to be in every room as she wanted to play where we were. While this still happens sometimes, we have a rocking chair in the playroom so that we can sit in there with her and this has helped keep 90% of her toys in the playroom and out from under our feet!

Thanks for sharing these tips! It was fun to watch you clean. We do a "reset" twice a day. After lunch, the kids help me pick up the living room and their bedrooms. During nap I clean the kitchen/ eating area. Then before bed we do the same thing.

I love your ideas. Going to use most of them. I have a 7 year old, 5 year old, 16 month old and a 4 month old. And its so hard for me to do any deep cleaning done especially because of my youngest two. I only get to the general cleaning of everyday like tidying up, vacuuming, wiping counters, sweeping, laundry every day! I hope your tips really help.

I would add that I wash each kids load separately so there is no sorting needed. Each kid has a basket in their room that is taken to the laundry room when full and then returned with the folded laundry. We use our TV time to fold laundry together too.

I do a lot of the same things as you Beth, I also try to keep a schedule of course weather and other circumstances can apply at times lol ! Being in Florida we don’t have as many seasons so we are outside a lot so I have to balance keeping g the outside play yard screened area and turf play yard kept up as well as the inside. I make as much use as I can if nap or quiet time and first thing in the morning I am up before everyone and I am dressed showered ready and have done my devotions. Then when everyone is up I set to wiping bathrooms and vacuuming before breakfast. Then we make breakfast clean the kitchen and sit down for a little pre preschool and books before starting any of the days activities. So far this works and helps me to keep a flow in all housework beyond the usual. Thinking of you and keeping you in prayers as always! Much love from sunny FLA ! 🩷

I love cleaning too! One of my best friends always said to me how seeing how pristine I kept my home is why she was able to do the same with six kids, and telling moms that there is no excuse for a mess (and that if she could do it, they could). I feel you and I probably tackle things similarly. Not everyone is built like us. We have made conscious habits that come naturally to us over time, while other people have to build those habits. I tell my boys they can't play any games or do what they want until they first do what they have to do. Therefore, they eat, get dressed, wash their faces, brush their teeth and hair, and make their beds to start out their day. I tell them instilling this routine will help them for the day that they live without me and that it will make their future spouses happy too.

Vacuuming and mopping the floors is definitely too much already for me in 3rd trimester. After baby's birth I absolutely want a steam vacuum or a wet vacuum, especially before he starts to crawl... I also have a pet leaving traces here and there. This is great advice and the other tips are useful as well... you need to save time and effort while keeping the home tidy and pleasant.

I do all these things too! But the one difference is the deep cleaning stuff. It was overwhelming me too much so we invest in a monthly cleaning service for all that stuff and it’s been a game changer. Not everyone can/wants to pay for that but it’s been so worth it for us!

I only have a 2 year old but I'm currently pregnant and my motivation to clean has been extremely low, as I am still working full time as well. I've had extreme guilt because most times during the week I am too exhausted to clean and my partner has been picking up a lot of my slack. These tips helped me alot, especially by living in a cramped 2 bed 2 bath apartment. I'm definitely going to be getting more baskets to keep things organized.

Hang in there! I was in the same boat and now that baby has been born and we've gotten through the initial transition phase, I have more energy to get stuff done again. Not ALL of it (mostly from a time perspective) but at least getting something done doesn't leave me exhausted like it did during pregnancy.

We don’t do any proper folding with baby and young kids clothes. Drawers are very clearly organized but things are thrown in. Easy when they want to help dress themselves (you’re not frustrated when they “mess up” folding) also they wiggle so much that wrinkles won’t last long

I like to place things that need to go upstairs in a basket on the stairs and then whenever I go up that’s convenient and makes sense I just take the basket up rather than constantly go and up and down for little things
@joselynfulbright812811 ай бұрын
Kind of piggy backing on your idea of taking things into a room if you are already going.. but sometimes if I have lots of things everywhere that need to go to different places, I'll grab my laundry basket and get everything that needs to "go home" and carry the basket around to put everything away. Before I did this, I did SO much back and forth and would get distracted easily.
@kathleenmcnaughton339210 ай бұрын
I do laundry baby room. So each room has a basket and when it’s full enough I begin a load. Then it dries in it’s own cycle and gets folded in its own basket. So one room per basket.

Looks like the Ikea flisat book display. Not sure if it isn't sold in the US anymore, I haven't seen it in a while. Currently very pricey on second hand options. We returned ours when we tried it with our first child. I found it really awkward and our (back then) toddler had trouble putting the books back by herself. A simple basket on the floor with a dozen books in it was so much more functional and easy to handle. We have our third kid now and still use baskets for books while they are so young.

My tip…is if a mom asks for help from children… mom needs to accept how they do it and the results. If mom gets mad that it’s not done to her standards and ends up correcting or scolding the children, then it was pointless to ask for help and should have done it herself in the first place. Children are still learning. 😅

This is why i don't agree with people who pay their kids who do chores! Kids should not be paid to do chores that are part of being a family like picking up their toys,etc. Now if it is something unusual that they don't normally do then that is one thing. But not for doing regular chores.
