Linda: It's about Beth's father. He left her mom for another woman. As she tells it, her happy home was broken and she thought that it had something to do with her. This song is Beth's way to resolve that deep pain she felt when her family fell apart. I know how it feels; it happened to me when I was 4 or 5 years old and my parents split. Her story is a little different than mine, but it's the same hurt. I know what it means and I know what it feels like.

I saw Beth and her band perform this past weekend in Tahoe. It was an unforgettable and incredible show. If you get a chance to see her live, don't miss it. As you can see from this video, she projects a great deal of emotion to the audience. She makes you feel loved when she performs, and the audience, her true fans give it back to her. I plan to get this album. I hope they release it in a vinyl version.

She will then start moving east through the South and then she'll be in Europe where she's very popular in the spring. Check out her website, bethhart.com, for the latest info on her tour dates. Don't despair, she lives in LA, so she'll come around again. You may have to wait if you're not willing to do some serious traveling, but she is well worth waiting for.
