She has a great voice and an interesting tone, but what really strikes me is how unique her melodic and rhythmic choices are. Typically, when I see a kid musician online, I kind of roll my eyes a bit before listening. I've seen so many that are very technically proficient, but are just imitating what they've heard because they simply don't have the experience to have found their own sound yet. Somehow, at 15, she has found a sound that is unlike anyone else and that blows my mind.

I truly appreciate your reaction, as well as your statements about "most people" regarding how they must use their tongue and throat for certain purposes. I have seen reactions from other professionals making the same claim about Diana. They all later had to retract their statements after watching her more closely. It's something you can do with her cover of "Can't Help Falling In Love." She is clearly the finest dramatic contralto performing on the planet today, and often beyond the capabilities of coaches and singers to fathom.

Your beautiful red hair reminds me of my mother, grandmother at some aunts and uncles who are all red-handed. my grandmother‘s maiden name was Foster and is my understanding that her grandparents were from Ireland. Diana recently released a original song called, The Day You….. she is now 20 years old and you will be shocked how much she has extended her range I won’t tell you what note she hits I will let it be a surprise. I’m someone who has only discovered Diana weeks ago, and became a major fan quite quickly. Like basically everyone, I had never heard such an incredibly unique tone from any singer. she was born in a dysfunctional family and literally could not or did not know how to speak much longer than ordinary children. because of this, her lungs, larynx, vocal cords and neural connections of the brain were formed in a specific way due to atrophy. therefore, later, because of the singing and because of the structure of the skull, such a unique voice turned out. a very complex and rare almost impossible combination of circumstances gave us this talent. it's almost a miracle if you don't know anatomy and neurobiology.

Beth, this vocal competition was called “You Are Super” and took place on May 12, 2019, and yes she was only 15 years old. During this performance some reactors said they wondered if Diana Ankudinova was using Auto-Tune during this performance, or some other kind of electronic vocal Manipulation. The general consensus of many other reactors, including recording sound engineers, and actual vocal professionals, all said no. No auto-tune was added, nor any other form of electronic voice manipulation. What many may not know is this, Diana Ankudinova has learned, mastered, and uses a vocal technique known as polyphonic singing which is a testament to the time and dedication Diana has put into her career at such a young age. This is also an unusual and extraordinary accomplishment for someone this young. As an aside, In 2017 when Diana was 13 years old, her vocal range was first measured and was measured from a low of D3 to a high of A5, which was unusually low for a 13 year old girl. Diana did not have her vocal range measured again until she was 18 years old on September 25, 2021, during her "Can't Help Falling In Love" performance, during the "ShowMaskGoOn!" competition. Her vocal range was again measured and Diana’s functional vocal range now goes from a low of C3 (male Tenor range) to a high of B♭5, (female Mezzo Soprano range), over 3 octaves. Many true vocal professionals were saying Diana Ankudinova was already displaying all the hallmarks of becoming a true contralto voice type, in addition to her musicality and stage presence which was well beyond the vast majority of 14 year old girls. One of the most commonly asked questions regarding Diana’s unique voice is, how does she do it? How does such a young female singer achieve such a low, rich, deep, profound, and resonant sound? Without actually scoping her vocal tract while she is producing those low notes to physically see what is happening within her vocal tract, the general conciseness of many vocal professionals is simply attributing Diana's ability to her winning the genetic lottery. Diana was just born with her unique vocal anatomy. Diana's vocal folds (vocal cords) appear to be longer and thicker than the vast majority of female singers. Her larynx, (voice box), likewise appears to be larger and similarly her pharynx, (throat), also appears to be longer than the vast majority of female singers, plus she has a large oral cavity (mouth). It’s this combination of unique vocal anatomical structure that appears to give Diana Ankudinova the ability to produce the low, deep, rich, and full sounds she is known for, but without actually scoping her vocal track to verify, there is no way to be 100% sure. Diana has many other performances on KZbin, some were competitions, some concerts, and some were during the Covid lockdown the she did from home for fun that had none of the flash, glam and glitter of a competition or concert.
