Hello Sam... You absolutely have to do a reaction to her song "Rechenka" ("River"), it is mind blowing. Even though you will not understand the words (kind of ancient Russian, I guess), you won't need to because she will draw you into the spooky world of ancient earthly spirits in a very dramatic and passionate fashion. In that song, she delivers an unbelievable performance (not only singing but bringing a character to life) and her vocals are totally mesmerizing because she showcases all her wonderful vocal abilities. And along with “ Human” ( low notes to die for.. she’s a rare mezzo contralto ) and “ Wicked Game” contributed to her winning not only the kids contest for 2 consecutive years but catapulted her to international stardom. with millions of avid followers worldwide. And you might want to read a little about her tragic younger years as an orphan abandoned and tossed into a garbage can unable speak for years after she was up for adoption by her birth mother at age 3. You may want to continue your Ankudinova journey by reacting the year prior to “ rechenka” when she was 13! She entered her first kids contest in Russia where she sang a song that required masterful yodeling. It was a masterpiece, a tour de force, some say the best yodeling performance in the history of videos showcasing yodeling, but in this performance it wasn’t just her amazing yodeling but also her body movement and stage presence and incredible as this might sound ( and I’ll shortly explain the reason why) but NOT ONE CHAIR TURNED!!!! After the song was finished and the judges turned around , the audience interrupted what they were saying by giving Diana a 5 minute STANDING OVATION. After the applause, the judges had her perform a segment of a French song made famous by Edith Pief and after she sang it , the lady judge covered her face with both hands in utter shock , disbelief and SHAME. The judges said they didn’t press their buttons because they couldn’t teach her anything. She was beyond their level already. But this turned out to be a BLATANT LIE and one of the worse scandals in Russian talent contest history. Because the following day it was revealed that the contest was “ fixed” the winner was “bought” before the show started. A total travesty of justice. And the following days over 80 million who watched the contest when posted on KZbin spit on the judges. But she got her revenge the following year and year thereafter by winning not only the Russian contests in two consecutive years but 60 more awards and contests. Please ( when you get the chance) I BEG of you to at least privately react by YouTubing “ Diana Ankudinova yodeling”. And you’ll witness a yodeling masterpiece and if you stay to near the end of the judges commentary ( making excuses and lying) you will hear a brief portion of the French song the judges asked her to sing that she NAILED! And there is a video of her outside a mall at age 11 singing this same French song but the complete version and she KILLED IT!!!! And at age 13 a classic flamenco song called “ me toy” hi how she performed with amazing emotional impact. And when you’re convinced that she’s one of the best female vocalist in the world ( like millions of others including myself) you may want to react to a couple of her newer songs: ( she just turned 17 the other day) like “by your voice”. and a masterpiece titled “Tomorrow is a lie” ( 4.26 one posted by HTB with famed composer Igor at the piano). I promise you if you continue to publicly react to Diana ( “Rechenka,” “Human” , “Wicked Game”, “Yodeling”...your subscriber base will go through the roof!!!! She’s now almost as popular as the great male pop-op vocalist Dimash. And has her own Facebook fan club. And if Diana and Dimash were ever to perform together in concert one day I can assure you when the upcoming concert is announced, it will be SOLD OUT in less than an hour. Thank you for your reaction to Diana Ankudinova. Diana actually turned 16 on 31st May 2019, but was indeed 15 at the time of this performance. The show she is on here is Ты супер! (translated as "You are Super") and it is for children who have found themselves without parental care at some point in life. According to the programme, Diana was abused by her biological mother until around the age of 3 years, and ended up in an orphanage. While there, a massage nurse named Irina Ponik took care of her, and a strong bond was formed, to the extent that a year afterward Diana was adopted by Irina, and Irina has been her "Mom" ever since. It seems that for the first year or so Diana would hardly speak, and singing lessons were recommended, and the rest is history. Diana has a haunting deep contralto voice which has shocked audiences from an early age. Diana is now with a loving family, and her music training goes from strength to strength. Since winning the show, she has received much support from Igor Krutoy, the judge with the bald head who pushed his green button last, and who is one of Russia's foremost composers and song writers. You may have seen him play piano for Dimash sometimes. Diana's cover of "Rechenka" a Russian folk song, on the same show in 2018 when she was only 14 is something else, and very much worth watching. HI Sam that was great reaction & breakdown. Of all the covers on this song 3 are my favorites. The originals from Chris back in 89 ( which I fell in love with back then) Then there's Diana Ankudinova I love how she took & made a big production without letting it overwhelm her & she turned it into a great Pop song in a modern way with a little Russian folk song style to it.I believe Diana is a either a contralto profondo or a low contralto. Than there's Angelina Jordan's arrangement & composition of it, she went the exact opposite direction completely redone it & just her on her little keyboard in her room playing 3-4 cords & just telling a story using her voice just amazing. Better angle Sam--showed your "what the hell's going on?" reaction nicely! Next, her performance of "Rechenka" ("River", in Russian), on the same show. She sings with the "tongue clench", with lowered soft palate, for nasality, as you picked up on. The voice actor for Kermit the Frog does the same thing and she may have been influenced by Cher and Shakira, as well. But she has such a command of the stage and her performance, doesn't she? "Rechenka" is a Russian folk song, I understand, and will jar your ideas of vocal pedagogy, Coach! And she appears to generate her "r-r-r-r-" timbre in a very healthy way! That's what's so stunning, in a youngster, and she's going to demonstrate some skillful control between chest and head tones (that's an understatement--don't want to tip you off to what you're going to hear). Then, don't forget to go to Dimash's YT channel and review "Ogni Pietra" (Arnau concert version), the cantata written specifically for him by Russian icon, Igor Krutoy (the bald guy who was frozen in his chair and took most of the song to register his approval). I heard she was abused as a young child to the point when she was found at the age of three she was unable to speak, her adoptive mom had her go to a therapist to speak and they taught her through singing. (or so I read somewhere) Also, she used to like to yodel. I did see a video where she was yodeling.

This year, the channel announced the Super Season of the contest, she participated in it for the second time and won the Grand Prix.
