I came to realise all the people who really dig deep into music, vocals and are professionals in music tend to naturally gravitate towards the most musical member of the group: Rosé. Her talent and expressions are just out of this world. Every note she belts, every word she sings is so emotional & you can feel the passion she has in singing. Thank you for your reaction.

For Lovesick Girls, the meaning from the music video is actually pretty dark. The girls were experiencing heartbreak or "lovesickness" and they died later on. Jennie died in a car crash. We can see this in one of the first scenes of the music video. Then on the next scene, we see Lisa with her lover on the rooftop of a tall building. She jumped off and died as well. Rose died drowning in the bathtub. We can see this from the scene in the bridge. Meanwhile, Jisoo was the only one without a lover and was trying to save all of them, but when she found out it was too late, she drowned herself from that scene in the bridge. Jisoo was also trying to bring back time as we can see her holding a broken hourglass with the dusts going back in rather than falling to the ground. (This was from the first prechorus where she was surrounded with flowers all around). And the ending scene could mean them being reunited in the afterlife. That's all. Can't wait to see more bp content.

i think listening to on the ground with the context of the music video really makes it hit harder, because when she's singing to this "you" character most would assume she's referring to an ex or a lost love. and in a sense she is, because she's singing to her past self and the genuine passion for creating music. idk for me that scene where her past self is playing piano and singing for her present self is just so gorgeous and meaningful. been loving watching your journey with discovering these girls and i'm glad you're enjoying them!

almost all blackpink mvs have a story line, but in most of them they are conceptual scenes, it can change depending on the perspective and style of each member, and when it gets to the chorus it's like a big mix of those scenes. it's a little difficult to understand the meaning of each one, but after watching it a few times you can understand the meaning of it

Lisa's song title, Lalisa, is a response to her hates, she suffers a lot of hate for not being Korean and getting so much attention. The people in Korea said a lot to her... The BP girls even had to take a stand on the xenophobia she received. Lisa is Thai, her story is very beautiful, she went to korea by herself after winning several street dance contests, until she entered YG. . So much so that the entire costume of the last part of the song refers to Thailand.

i loved these reactions! most of blackpink's music videos are connected in very subtle ways. i say "most" because i don't think how you like that, shut down or any of their solos (except rosé's gone and maybe jennie's solo) can be connected in a way. their videography tells a love story, to put it simply, starting with *whistle* (where they meet the love of their life, and because they allude to video games throughout the video, i assume that this first love is a game that will begin an eye-opening journey) - then *playing with fire* (where their mothers warn them about the ramifications of love and how it is equivalent to playing with fire) - then *stay* (funny thing is, this music video can be taken in two ways: one of them is that this song is dedicated to blinks [the fanbase] and how the girls want us to stay with them forever, and the other, in terms of storyline, is asking their "lover" to stay with them forever) - then comes *as if it's your last* (where the girls decide to go with the flow and party or have fun with their love like it's their last) - then the iconic *ddu-du ddu-du* (where because they were blindsided by the happiness they thought they were sharing with their lover in the previous mv, the lover ends up taking advantage of the girls, so they decided to retaliate by "shooting" them [hence the "ddu-du ddu-du" which is an onomatopoeia of a gun being fired]. BUT, this is like stay where it had two meanings: i just stated the storyline one, but the second one is a more meaningful one - it's a straightforward attack to the media and antis and basically call out how they twist their words, comment on their weight [jennie's first verse], abuse them for even the smallest mistake [jisoo's entire second verse and scene - she walks away from a perfect image of herself, and there are men around her not paying attention to the real her and taking photos of the image behind her, but then she trips and suddenly everyone's eyes are on her with their phones pointed at her like actual guns + the men even wearing masks to insinuate those who hide behind screens and talk crap], and how idols have to act perfect in front of cameras [rosé's first verse and cinematography of that scene with the black-dressed rosé and white-dressed rosé on a pedestal], and so much more lol. - then there's *kill this love* (which was typically another form of retaliation, and pretty much gave tomb raider + game of thrones + "if you can't love us well, then we might as well literally kill this love" vibes. you can see this with the bazooka shot during the explosion in the first chorus. you also have the pre-chorus scenes with rosé and jisoo where they both try to get rid of their "weak" selves (you see a strong-willed rosé trying to run over a feeble rosé with a car that spells "ego" on its plate), and then jisoo's second pre-chorus is the same as rosé's scene except her "strong" self loads and aims an arrow of fire at her "weaker" self who is running away. because at the end of the day, you need to be strong and resilient in order to get out of a toxic relationship. - ‼(tw//mentions of su!c!de)‼fast forward a year later and you have *lovesick girls* my fav bcs of the dark aesthetic and storyline lmao (we have another aftermath of the girls' "breakup"; i saw someone mention that this video isn't as pretty as you think it is and personally i agree, because to me it really looks like the girls (excluding jisoo, and i'll get to that soon) gave up on their loves due to mental insecurities. like, jennie purposely crashes her car because it reminds her of her ex and was admitted to a psychiatrist where she probably overdoses or kicks the bucket due to extreme insanity. after thrashing everything that is reminiscent of her ex, lisa jumps from a bridge. rosé drowns herself in a bathtub after reliving all the toxic memories with her ex. but jisoo? her role in this music video is interesting: she's the only one without a lover and realizes that the other 3 girls are suffering from a loss of love, and wants to save them (i.e. the running scene). unfortunately, she doesn't do this in time (there is a scene where she is in a field of cornflowers and she holds a broken hourglass where the sand is not falling downwards, but in reverse which technically means she wishes she could go back in time) as the other girls have already taken their lives. because of this, it can be said that she gives up. this ensues an emotional array of scenes in the afterlife with the girls having fun. or maybe those were memories? honestly never knew oof. of course, this is a dark fan theory, but the actual theory according to jisoo is about overcoming a toxic relationship and that you will eventually find love again

Their MVs are more on symbolisms. Lovesick Girls is perhaps their most story-driven MV. In Ddu-Du-Ddu-Du, they did one of the most iconic representations of kpop reality-when Jisoo was walking in a wig, people seem to not notice her and was fixated on her mural, then she trips and suddenly all phones are pointing at her like guns and with people’s ski masks on, ready to fire at her. Much like how people do-you commit a mistake and everybody is ready to capture it and attack you behind the veil of anonymity. Kill This Love has a lot of symbolisms about love and toxicity. Even their use of colors and color tones have meanings. How You Like That is actually a Greek mythology played out-that’s the story of the whole video-getting victorious over their haters (the opening shot is the statue of Nike, the Greek goddess of victory). In Lovesick Girls, the cars, the neon signs, they have hidden meanings. Even their choice of clothes have significance and meaning to the video. We can write paragraphs on what their MVs represent. It’s fun looking for Easter eggs in all their videos. Yes, I recommend you watch the behind the scenes of these MVs, they are in Blackpink’s YT channel.

To most of their videos there are storylines and deeper meaning - like How you like that is heavily based on Greek mythology (Nike statue at the opening shot, Rose embracing Persephone myth, Trojan horses etc.) to tell a story of a person who faced downfall but after everything they went through they came back stronger (honestly there’s so much to unpack I recommend you watching British priest reaction to this music video - he got his sister who has two Ivy League school diplomas to explain every reference in that music video); Whistle starts as game - that’s why at the beginning you see them putting together equipment, buying game cassette and why every new set looks so out of place, you’re literally going throughout video game levels - at the end they mimic static screen like how it used to look like in old times when you turned off tv); Kill this love follows each of them hurt and angry trying to kill the version of them who is naive and in love (we see Jennie in white dress and black outfit in the same setting referring to white and black swan story, in last shot of that scene she holds a stone with red inside resembling a heart and when she opens it for us to see Lisa comes in kicking red doors hence going into heart (heaven) with all cereal named in a way that involves “love” and she crashes the place trying to kill that love; Jisoo shot is resembling an eye - we see her looking like a goddess in the first one and then when she sings about their significant other “crying tears of blood” shot changes and she has red coral around her head - if you look at overall shot, water makes the whole scene look like a blood shot eye; Rosé’s scene is quite self explanatory. The whole video follows a story of trying to get out of toxic relationship. Sometimes you have to really follow the visual story but a lot of times it also helps to look at the lyrics (like Jisoo’s bloodshot eye) because they do like to incorporate things literally from time to time ❤ I hope it helps to get a perspective to some of the videos because I can’t possibly get into all of them 😅

So funny story Lovesick Girls actually has a pretty sad storyline where all the girls are dead. Basically due to "lovesickness" (Basically having the end of their relationships) they all end up passing away. Except for Jisoo. Jennie: Car Crash Lisa: Off a Building Rose: Drowns in the Bathtub The scene of Jisoo running is debated as either her trying to save them from dying or yelling at herself for not being able to. (This can also be inferred from the broken hourglass in her scene.) The final scene of them in pastels, driving and wandering around the feild is understood to be Heaven. Where the 4 of them can be together again with the past behind them. (Notice how they don't look at the camera during those scenes.) Edit: This theory for the storyline of the music video also stems from the initial promo pictures of Lovesick Girls where all the girls eyes are closed except for Jisoo who is looking directly at the camera.

There was a literary student who looked at the Stay MV and her explanation and analysis was so spot on. Stay MV is about the different stages of grief (particularly after a heartbreak) and the different colors correspond to the different stage. They are representing each stage and they have a predominant color pallete throughout each of their scenes. I am so sad though that you didn’t see the meaning of Jisoo’s shot in Ddu-Du-Ddu-Du MV. You even said that how hair can change one’s look. She was incognito and everyone was so fixated on her mural-an ideal image. Then she trips (makes one wrong move) and everyone suddenly had their phones pointed at her like guns and their faces hidden. Attacking her anonymously because of a single mistake. That is a very powerful treatise on today’s culture-social media and internet hate for the slightest of things because we put our idols on a pedestal.

The premise is that I never had listened to K-pop before Blackpink. I consider myself to be a kind of rock-punkrock- electronic-Brit pop person, music wise. But when I first listened to Blackpink I was immediately done. Completely submerged in the rabbit hole, and I’m still there . To me every one of them is extremely talented,it’s hard to choose a bias and I really Stan for ALL OF THEM. Yet at a first glance Queen Jisoo was my absolute favourite ( I mean can you blame me?) . Time went by and now I’m more prone to say that my ultimate bias is Rosé because her music talent brings me back all the memories about the music I used to listen when I was a kid. When she sang Don’t look back in anger by Oasis I was devastated because it was like the past mixing with the future. She’s a real musician and artist. Not to mention that being extra pretty and becoming the YSL it girls doesn’t hurt because I’m a fashion lover. Please apologise me for my English mistakes. I’m an elder Italian millennial, English is not my language.❤ thanks for the amazing video

Hey Beth! I would say that their videos do have an overarching theme, but the details are usually there to create mood, rather than a specific reference. There are exceptions, though, for example many of the scenes in HOW YOU LIKE THAT have specific references to Greek mythological characters, events and symbols. And here's a bonus mini "Easter Egg" for AS IF IT'S YOU LAST: The windows on the subway trains going by on the left side of the screen are always BLACK, the windows of the trains on the right are all PINK (BLACK/PINK!)
@lisanini68052 жыл бұрын
So... I love your Blackpink reactions so much. I saw your first video of them and I subscribed to your channel, then you reacted to all their songs and I loved you, and then when you reacted to Born Pink I rewatched the previous two videos before because I needed it, and this time, before I saw your reaction to the MVs, I saw all your reactions again, from The Album to this hahahaha. I identified with you so much that I couldn't help it. I also fell in love with the production of their music, then I saw one of their concerts and was shocked, then I listened to their full albums and felt that it was a "unique experience" and with the music videos I was impressed with the quality. As other comments have already explained to you, the narratives of the Blackpink videos are rather "conceptual", they have a story but made with metaphors. Personally, I love it for it. Blackpink has the concept of being on the one hand "pink" and on the other "black", and I feel that is reflected in everything. In the case of MVs, you can think of them as pinks and visuals, or you can go detail by detail and say “wow”. I studied cinema, so I never cease to love how even the shots and camera movements help create the plot and the "characters" of the girls. Blackpink's universe can be so deep, behind all the pink! I don't know if you're ever going to react to anything other than music about them, but if one day you want to sit down and learn more about their MVs, I recommend this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/d4K2p2lsYrGAZpY It is a very well explained film analysis. I think it is very useful for you to understand what you unconsciously noticed. I would personally LOVE to see you react to that because no reactor did and I always wanted to see someone see it. But I understand that it is a video that you might want to watch on your own. And I hope that if you do you will like it! :D I also recommend this if you're interested in finding out all the mythological references in their videos: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hn-kkoWHorNjprM Since you talked about the documentary and the girls' personalities, I imagine your next reaction will be about that. I look forward to it! I want to tell you that many have already recommended you "Blackpink guides", and although they are very useful, from the amount of reactions I saw, they tend to make the reactors a bit confused, because there are inside jokes (like that Lisa ALWAYS has bangs ). I will tell you that the guides from 2022 and 2021 talk a bit about their "careers" and basic things about their personalities, and the ones from 2020 and 2019 (or was it 2018?) are more about random moments of the girls to know little details about they. If I were you and wanted to "know" them, I would avoid the guides before watching the documentary. And in fact, whether before or after the documentary, I HIGHLY recommend "Blackpink: Journey and friendship", which is like a fan documentary. Already after that, I think the guides would be more digestible. I'm also interested to see your reaction to dance practice and dance performance (dance performance is better produced and Money almost looks like an MV). I am someone who does not dance and did not like dancing at all, until I saw them dance. Obviously there will always be "better dancers" than them. But for me the charisma and individual style of each one, even when they do the same dance, makes them the best in my eyes. To me it's not about great moves, it's about great performances. Extra: it's fun to see how as the years go by, they have more budget hahaha. I know, I talked a lot, and I'm sorry. Also, I want to clarify that English is not my first language, and I hope I didn't say something wrong. I explained all this to you because I thought you're really "into" Blackpink. I mean, almost no reactor sits here and listens to all the albums in one video or all their MVs, because they prefer to go one by one and get views, or they just don't care that much. So since you really seem genuine to me, I wanted to try to help you fully enjoy Blackpink. I would also talk about their live performances, or other recommendations, but I don't want to be more annoying than I am already hahaha. I will try the rest of your videos, to see if we have similar tastes with other artists!

As if It's Your Last - the cotton candy and scenes in front of the yellow shipping container were added because during a break they were standing there and Lisa had the cotton candy and did that head movement and the other girls loved it so much they made the production team put it in the video and did several scenes there including the Jennie ice cream scene. Also if you watch the Behind the scenes, Making of the M/V, and Blackpink reacting to their video they explain what many of the concepts are in the video. Example the Making of the Pink Venom video Jisoo explains that she is a vampire in that video. Also, Jennie is the centipede (monster truck has centipede fangs), Lisa is a venomous snake (tree of knowledge of good and evil references the serpent), Rose is a spider (the underground tunnel with butterflies in spider webs (not snow/ice) and the black sludge which is what spider venom does to it's victims innerds.

Lovesick girls theory twitter theory: Jennie, Lisa, and Rosé all committed suicide from how painful their heartbreak was. Jennie died in a car accident, Lisa jumped from the building, and Rosé drowned herself in the tub. Jisoo doesn't have a man in this mv because she represents the love of friendship. Much like her role in real life (as unnie of the group) she takes care of the other girls in the mv protecting them from harm. However, with their suicides she feels like she failed them and is now all alone. The flower field can be 2 things. 1. Jisoo is meant to represent Demeter. Some background info: Demeter is the Greek goddess of harvest and the mother of the goddess Persephone. Persephone's husband (and uncle) had kidnapped her because he fell in love with her. Long story short, Demeter found out and wanted her daughter back so she and Hades came to an agreement that Persephone will live with Hades in the underworld during the last 4 months of the year but return to her mother during the first 8 months of the year. So during the last 4 months of the year when Persephone is with Hades, Demeter grieves for her beloved daughter. Due to her grief she can't perform her duties which is how winter came about. Even though it's now spring and all of the sand in the hourglass has already reached the bottom, Persephone still has not returned. Demeter gets worried and eventually goes to try to find her daughter. Jisoo here is Demeter because she's waiting for the girls to comeback (like Demeter waited for Persephone) but they didn't (like Persephone didn't). 2) It could just be part of Jisoo's grieving process where she imagines heaven to be a field of calming blue flowers. This is her trying to convince herself that they're in a better place now. Then we see Jisoo running. This is her running to the little convenience store/ arcade/diner thing that we see in the next scene. That scene where they're all playing paintball and having a good time is the memory Jisoo is trying to chase. Finally we find Jisoo in a pool of water. She couldn't handle the guilt of not being able to protect her friends and was also heartbroken (again lovesick from friendship). So she died in a pool of rain, not from drowning, but because the sign behind her electrocuted her death in the water when it tipped over. The sign also spells NOTHING showing Jisoo had nothing left. The final FINAL scene in the field is the girls reuniting in a better place.

Lovesick Girls meaning: Jennie is in a car wreck of a relationship and stays in it and it eventually drives her crazy Lisa and Rose find out they are dating the same guy (being cheated on) so Rose destroys his apartment and guitar and Lisa destroys his car. Jisoo starts out lonely but hopeful in the flower garden but runs away from her relationship and eventually ends up regretting leaving waist deep in her own tears All of them - in the chorus they are happy and rejuvinated by each other. So much hidden meaning in their videos and lyrics they are awesome.

One thing I have asked myself is. Why do I love BP so much and I cannot really come up with and specific answer. I also have found out from watching many 'reaction videos' that most people cannot pin point a specific reason either ..it just works !They just capture you!

In the first two videos, you need to dig deep, but it hasn't had much of a story compared to their succeeding MVs. It was more on their experiments era on their debut. You can slowly see them finding their identities as the years go by and finding a deeper meaning to each one.

for most part of their music videos, rather than telling a story, they're more into using imagery in conveying their message or purpose.

I love your videos about Blackpink! I’ve been a fan since 2016 and it makes me so happy to see people falling in love with them still. I know your channel is about music, but would you consider maybe making videos getting to know their personalities and stuff like that? There are a lot of fun “guides” on youtube to see more of that

there is a theory that lovesick girls tells the story of how jennie dies in the car accident because of the fight, lisa jumps from the building and rosé in the bathtub, jisoo tries to save them with the scene where he runs and uses the clock trying to turn back the clock time, but without them it is nothing (as the signal) and commits suicid3 in the water, in the end you can see all happy together

lovesick girls theories are the best! 3 of them were actually suicidals so Jisoo running in the scene was to save them but she failed. She commited after that in the raining scene(?). It's actually heaven after the bridge part! Jennie got into an accident Lisa was on the rooftop and jumped after that Rose commited in the bathtub you can watch the theories by searching lovesick girls theories! I cannot really explain it well lol haha. Love your videos so much!!
